Ok.....yall want a good laugh? Listen to what I did! I have been coloring my hair forever (at home). I have been using the same stuff from the beginning, but last night when I went to get it, they didnt have the kind I wanted, so I got a different brand......same color (well at least the name was the same - Dark Auburn). Anyway.....now my hair is really brassy on top. What can I do to tone the brassy color down a little? Its not really bad looking, I just dont like it so brassy!
Please Help!!!!!!

Normally I would say to give it time or to just wait a day or two and get an ash tone to "cover up" with. However, you are DAYS before your wedding. Do yourself a favor and call a professional.

Oh yes Cindy, do what Lacey said, and get in touch with a cosmetologist to help you out. Usually when you try to fix hair things on your own it only gets messed up worse. One time I got my hair colored my a new stylist. I told her I wanted red highlights which I had gotten many times before. They were bright red! I decided when I got home that I would do what you are not supposed to do with red lights that soon and wash my hair in hot water to try to take some of the color out. Well instead of bright red lights I had bright pink lights I should have just went back and had a professional fix it!

I would say for sure go in and see a hair colourist at the salon you normally go to. Or somewhere a friend you trust goes.
If you don't want to do that. Sometimes the hair colour box has a help line you can call and they will tell you what colour to buy and use to fix the problem. A friend had a problem once with it and they told her to go buy a reaaally light blond. It came out much better after she did that.
Anyways.... good luck with getting it fixed!

Cindy - I used to color my hair too and one time (right before prom - not as important as the wedding, but...) I had the same problem. If it's just brassiness - you can buy hair rinses that evens out the color. I used Fanci-Full Color Refreshing Rinse. You pour it in your hair and shampoo it out and it gets rid of the brassiness. On the bottle it says "even tones or removes brassiness." Just look for your hair color. And there are many other kinds of rinses out there that should remove the brassiness, I just really liked this one.

Yeah. Go pro... I'm afraid to fix my color on my own because I'm going a different color. I'm doing mine the week before the wedding to give my hair a week to calm down. Also, a word of advice. If you can, try not to wash your hair for 5 days. Brush it lots too with a nataral bristle brush.. Wash it the night before the wedding, and then style it however you want. The nataral oils will condition your hair and make it beautiful.. And squeaky clean hair won't hold style as well as hair that is a little dirty.

:bbeek: My hair would look AWEFUL! But I have heard to not wash your hair for a day before you get it styled for the wedding.

I have messed up my color a few times before, since you are so close to the wedding I would definitely go to a pro to make sure you don't have funky colored hair for the big day ;)

My hair would be gross if i didn't wash it for 5 days. But yes you really shouldn't wash it the day before because dirty hair is easier to style.

Mine would be too! Im going to wash mine the night before, but since Im not getting ready until about 5pm, it will have plenty of time to get dirty!

I think the hair stylist is going to wash our hair the day of the wedding, but they are going to put all those sticky gels on it so that it holds for the updo.

Last time I got an updo the stylist said not to wash my hair the day before ... and she didn't wash it when I got there. She said that not only does slightly 'dirty' hair hold better, but also the updo takes so much time that she didn't want to add to it with a shampoo and blow dry. Plus with the whole frizz factor and having to add more product to 'clean' hair.

Well, she didn't mention that in our consultation and when we signed the contract. I guess we'll see.

A lot probably depends on your hair type. If you've got hair like mine that is really soft and fine it is hard to get into an updo. It is hard to hold and it can give a person fits. If it is a little bit dirty then it stays together better because of the natural oils produced by the scalp. When you wash your hair you wash the oils out. It is just a control factor.

Well I have rather thick and sometimes frizzy hair, so I don't think this was why. Who knows, maybe it varies by stylist.

Here are some tips I found ...

- Three months before: Schedule a consultation for your hair. At the consultation you will want to book your appointment for the day of the event to assure that you will have plenty of time. Also check with the bridal party to see how many want their hair done and schedule their appointments as well. It is easier to book out a day for your whole party in advance.
- One to two weeks before: Have your color or highlights done so they will be fresh for the big day.
- The morning of the rehearsal: Treat yourself to a spa manicure and a spa pedicure to relax.
- The day of the wedding: Come with clean, dry hair and wear a button up shirt and relax!

Another tip that wasn't mentioned here ... Bring any hair accessories and your veil!

Hey Cindy, glad you got your hair fixed! Got a picture of your new do?
