Hey everyone I'm jessie, my fiance lee and i are getting married in destin, fl on 5-5-10, but live in columbus, ohio. I know i have tons of time to plan, but I am in the middle of finishing two degrees, so the sooner i get things done the better! I feel so stressed out already, but i can't wait to start swapping ideas with you ladies!!
A little background on our wedding, my mom lives 2 hours away, and is readily available to help me anytime. My fmil is 15 minutes away and no help at all, and my moh lives in south lake tahoe now and she is trying all she can.
We are planning on renting a beach house in destin for the 20 or so relatives of mine that are going to florida. And getting married in front of the beach house with a party afterwards for all my family that is going (his family lives down there, so they will all be there. )
After our honeymoon in st lucia we are planning on having a reception near my home town for everyone that wasn't able to go to our wedding.
Any advice would be wonderful!!!

well i have tons of questions...
1. i am having problems finding a ocean front beach house that will allow weddings and can accomadate all of us.
2. my father is not very much in the picture, but my step dad is, we are not very close though. I have asked my brother to walk me down the isle, but kind of feel bad towards both my dad's for doing this. I have also invited the grandparents i am closer too, but not my real dad's mom and step dad or my step dad's parents, is this wrong? very confusing situation
3.i am trying to figure out how to mix the fact that we are getting married on the beach and the wine theme i want for the reception
4. i found a hall, but am undecided on what food to serve, my aunts are doing all of the cooking for the reception
this is a start to all the crazy things that are running through my head, thanks for any info

hmmmm ....

Here are some sites I found by searching "Destin Beach Wedding"
www.destinweddings.org
www.abeachwedding.net
www.ultimatebeachweddings.com
www.sugarbeachweddings.com

If you want the escort and giveaway thing, maybe have both dads do it ... or get your mom to do it.
3.i am trying to figure out how to mix the fact that we are getting married on the beach and the wine theme i want for the receptionhmmm ... not sure there; kind of two different themes I think. What are the colors you want to use; same for the wedding and reception?
4. i found a hall, but am undecided on what food to serve, my aunts are doing all of the cooking for the reception
This could go many different ways. What time of the day is a factor; and will the event be formal or casual or inbetween is also a factor. I assume it would be a buffet, so that might limit some of your choices too since certain things won't sit as well *dunno* What do you and your FH like? Maybe talk to your Aunts and get their ideas and suggestions and then talk with your honey about what you guys want.
All the best :)

as of now im not sure if my real dad will even be there or not, one of those dad's that says oh yeah ill do that and then something comes up....whatever.. then i already know who i am using as a coordinator down there, patti terjak of surf side brides, but i am only using her as an officiate and a consultant, my mom and i are doing the decor for the beach as well as the reception. Im pretty sure my colors are going to be a light coral and sea green, for both the wedding and reception. I think the only way i am tying the beach theme with the wine theme is that i am buying starfish wine bottle toppers for favors.
we are getting married at sunset ( i am thinking sea food for this). when we get back and have the reception the dinner will also start around 5 or 6 ( i was thinking lasagna and red potatos and green beans, but no other ideas).
both will be informal

Congrats on the engagement! I actually know about 2 other brides getting married in Destin, pretty crazy. I have no idea what the draw is, lol.
I think that walking alone might be nice, or choosing your mom would be really sweet.

1. I dont' know why the beach house itself has to allow weddings... wouldn't you go through someone else to have the beach wedding approved?
2. I think you should invite people at your wedding that will uplift you, not stress you out. And you could always honor your dads in a different way - in the program, with other jobs, etc.
3. I think beach and wine go great together - two classy things! Maybe you can have people get a glass of wine before the ceremony starts, while they're waiting for it to begin?
4. Keep the food easy! And thank your aunts a lot!!!

sorry havent replied to you ladies sooner for your ideas, we've been out of power for a week here in columbus!! anyways i absolutely love the idea of my guest enjoying a glass of wine during the ceremony!!! I wanted the beach house to be directly on the beach because my ideas was to walk out the patio down the beach steps and onto the beach... and then the guests would be at the house already for the after party since we are having the technical reception a month later back home.
