So after showing off the jewelry I made in other places, several people have told me I sould make jewelry to sell. Well I've kind of pondered this and I really like to focus on swarovski and silver items. I guess my question is are you allowed to sell things like that on etsy? I'm not sure where the handmade line is drawn... because I'm obviously not able to hand make the components I'd like to use for my jewelry.

Just know that there are ALOT of jewelry vendors there. If you are ok with that then, go for it! The key is to promote, get involved in the Etsy community and don't forget to take great photos of your items. If you head to the forums, you can ask questions or pick up lots of tips.

You don't need to make all the items that go into your piece ..... but your piece has to be hand made. You can also buy and sell supplies there.

Hehe, there's a lot of jewelry vendors everywhere.

So yeah, I'm not sure if it would really go anywhere, but it might be worth it to come up with a few items in my spare time and see where it goes.

Ryan thought it would be a good idea for me since I enjoyed making the jewelry for the wedding, so again we'll see.

I feel sorry for some of them only because it's hard to get noticed in a big sea of fishies. :)

Make a quality product, price your stuff fairly (don't undersell your time) and be exceptional in the customer service department.

I am also on etsy with my canvas and i do hear a lot of people saying it is hard to seel jewlery on there because of so many people making it.
But i agree, if you have great photos and fair prices...you should dook.
It cant hurt, marketing, is marketing, and it doesnt cost more than .20 to list an item.

I notice that when i am on etsy, if i am active in the forums, my sales and views def. go up.
Good luck
Stephanie

Its a great community of hand crafters
...you should join your local team and get to know other sellers
in your area
there is alot of jewlery on the site
..yet in your local area you might do well
you have nothing to really lose
the handcrafters are some of the coolist folks i have ever met, and if nothing else you'll make some great creative friends....

The guidelines on Etsy are that they must be hand-made or assembled by hand.

Yes, you are allowed. I sell Swarovski crystal and sterling silver pieces on etsy. If you would like to ask me anything in particular about etsy feel free to do so.

I love scoping jewelry out on Etsy! I usually only make it through the first 50 pages though....

Yeah, I just noticed the date. :laugh2: It was at the top of category, so I thought it was new.

It is not that big of a deal I guess; I just wonder how such old threads get found sometimes ;)
