My husband's birthday is coming up. We have this gift certificate to the hotel. We never used it for the wedding so I thought about up grading to a hot tub room, ect. I'm also going to decorate it, ect. You guys think he will like this. Or is it a waste of my time? Have any of you guys done this for your man?

I don't see anything wrong with this plan. A romantic night at a hotel should be nice. Do you think he would not be happy with this?

Who knows? He likes staying home.

I say absolutely go for it. And go all out... buy something that makes you feel sexy, have the champagne chilled, take him for a nice dinner. More than anything, I think the effort you put into it is what's going to bowl him over and make him feel special... and yeah, set the stage - get a few nice scented candles, maybe even order up a special cake (not necessarily birthday cake) or see if you can have chocolate and strawberries brought by room service.

Frederick's has something cool, too.... they have a vanilla scented candle (in a little tin with a lid) that as it melts, it melts into massage oil (it comes with a little spoon to spoon it out)... (I picked one up for the honeymoon over the weekend; I haven't burned it yet obviously, but it smells wonderful in the tin!).

I did something similar to this for FH bday last December. He too is one not to spend anything and stay home or, close to home. So, I booked a room at the Hard Rock Hotel in Chicago, booked Amtrak tickets so we wouldn't have to drive and go tickets to the Chicago Blackhawks because neither of us have ever seen an NHL game. We even splurged and got room service. It was a ton of fun!!!

I'd say go for it. I thought he was going to be anti-spending money and doing things, but he had so much fun!
