embossing help!!!!!!!!

So I am trying to emboss a palm tree on my invites, I have the handy dandy little heat tool and powder and ink how to you know when its "embossed"?

About how long do you keep that heat tool on it?

You should be able to see it 'melting' as you heat it up. You shouldnt have to heat it up for too long (wave the heating tool back and forth a bit..if you put it too close or concentrate it in only one spot, it could spread the melted powder, or scorch your paper) - it only takes a few seconds. It should have a kind of glossy/shiny look to it and be a little bit raised up (wait til its cooled to feel it). Have you tried to do this yet? (because you really should be able to tell)

I had 2 colors, and when I first tried it was the purple color, and it didnt change much, but then I tried the clear and got it.
