I typed EVERYTHING then accidentally closed the window. Hiss! Boo!

Oh, well! Here we go - again...

I thought I'd share a little about Mel and me by creating a journal. We were married in Gatlinburg, TN on 08/08/08 and are doing it again on 8/8/9, but next time we're getting married in our home state in our church by one of our pastors. Our first wedding was an intimate affair: just us and the chapel staff. The next one will be a vow renewal and family gathering/reunion of sorts. ALL of my family is on the East Coast, so the two sides haven't met yet. His whole family is right here in the area where we live.

I'm taking a short break from planning next year's shindig, but not too long of a break, because I want to get my first choice in vendors - venue is already booked. Hmm, I've been so out of wedding mode and into back-to-school mode, we haven't ordered our professional pix yet. We have a ton of pix online and around the house, but those are the ones DH took when we got back to our cabin on the big day.

Here's the story of our proposal. As a joke, I wrote a note to DH (Mel) asking if he'd be my boyfriend. The note said "Will you be my boyfriend? Check 'yes', 'no', 'maybe'". Well, the night of the proposal, I knew something was up, because it was our 5-year dating and BFF anniversary AND he asked his grandma to keep our kids (I have three from my previous marriage and he has a daughter who lives with us). After dinner, he took me to my favorite park overlooking the Ohio River. We talked for a few minutes and then gave me the note that I'd previously given to him. He had crossed out "boyfriend" and written "wife".

I checked "yes", but just to be crystal clear, I wrote "hell yes" as well! I've scanned the note for my OW family to see. The "hell yes" isn't incredibly legible, since my pen poked a hole through the note - I was using my purse as a clipboard.

I will update my journal as time permits. All four kids are back in school and their activity schedules are in full effect, so "extra" time is scarce. *sigh*

That is so sweet! I don't know what I like best, that he saved your note, or that he even thought to use it!

Thanks, Vicky. It is a cute story. DH gets cool points for that one. :D

Jan, I'm still trying to figure out which is best, too. I had no clue he'd keep the note, let alone give it back to me as a proposal. I guess the saying "you walked right into that" isn't always bad.

What a cute story! Take your time with this party! Don't worry, it will be a fun time anyway!

Thanks. :)

I was really leaning away from the full church reception (minus alcohol - we don't drink anyway) and toward a huge outdoor event. I figured since I haven't seen many of my relatives in years and because none of my family has ever met DH's family we could make it a reunion. I'm a bit concered about the weather though. August is hot, but I'm more worried about it raining on our family olympics.

Like you said, it will be a fun time, so I'll have to remember to not stress out about it. I love and miss my family so much I just want them to have a great time. :)

You look so cute together! I loved reading the proposal story-so sweet of him that he kept the note. Congratulations on being married and good luck planning your vow renewal!
