So I need to start putting together some guest bags to leave in people's hotel rooms. Most people are checking in the day of the wedding. Any ideas on what to stick in them?

Wow.....um...let me think........if they are going to hanging around town long, you might want to put in an attractions map so that they can sight see before going home. Maybe coupons and/or passes to something they might like to see and/or do. Even a post card from your city so they have something from the trip besides the wedding favor.
Maybe some little snacks too, if the room doesnt provide them or room service is tooo expensive.
This is just my idea.....hope it helps!

I woudl stick in some little snacks like Cindy suggested! Perhaps a bottle of wine with glasses. Maps to local attractions along with maps to good place to eat! SOmething saying Thank you of course! Maybe a little something with your names and wedding date on it. If it were me I'd do like a cheese and crackers type basket with wine and like I said directions on how to get to places that serve good food!! :)

I was thinking about the snacks; some little bags of chips, granola bars, maybe bottles of water and some sodas. Something like that along with a list of attractions. (Although I don't think many people are staying past Sunday with he wedding on Saturday). I have a ton of left over directin cards I was going to tuck in there too. Anything else?

* A list of local restaurants
* Maybe a phone number list of contacts (yours, your parents, taxi cabs)
* Snacks are a great idea
* Slippers

Oh ya:
* A welcome note would be very nice
* Maybe a list of other out-of-town guests, if they all want to do something
* Disposable camera

Rachael Ray, my favorite Food Network personality, put a bottle of her favorite wine, playing cards with pictures of her and her then fiance on them, map of the city, and the bag itself was this cool compactable backpack. It was all pretty neat.

My first thought was those little travel packages of kleenex. I'm thinking, some people get really emotional at weddings. I dunno that they would think to grab a couple tissues before they leave but if they see one they might be inclined to take a mini package with them.
Also... maybe a little sewing repair kit. incase the seam fell out of somthing or they lost a button.
Have fun making your packages!

Well I don't know what else to add other than what the others have already said ... expect maybe a local weather forecast?
I would have said the snacks (maybe something that is special to your city/state?) the local map and directions, the mini sewing kit and tissues is a great idea as well as the disposable camera.
Good luck with everything!

If you're going to include tissues, Joe and I found the cutest personal packages of tissues - they're called "Sniffs" and they have a ton of different prints. There were some beautiful bride and groom styles - each tissue is printed with the picture.
We thought of maybe using bride and groom packages as wedding favors and attaching a thank you tag to them, but we're still kicking that around.

Lacey, I was thinking of doing the same type of thing with the out-of-town guests who booked at the hotel that I reserved the block at. The breakfast wasn't included, so I am thinking of including maybe a loaf of bread from my bread machine or some mini-muffins for breakfast.
I LOVE all the other ideas on here! The welcome note is a definite must! And I am definitely considering the forecast, especially since we're supposed to be outdoors!
I'm trying to keep mine as inexpensive as possible. Good luck with yours! What type of "bag" are you using? I thought of getting baskets or something...I'm not sure.
Along the same lines sort of, I read somewhere the suggestion to put a little basket of mini-necessities in the ladies' room. I got some lotion, hairspray, and clear nail polish to put in a little basket on the sink. Just a suggestion.

I was thinking of making a little basket like this for the washroom at the reception hall. I wasn't sure if they would have anything like that in there. But i did notice they have no machines to buy anything if you needed.
Some of my favourite perfume and hand cream. Maybe some mints. I'm not sure. I'm sure Mark will think i'm crazy for this idea. :D

For an idea like that, pads and sanitary napkins can always come in handy! :) One sometimes never knows when Aunt flo is going to visit! :bbcry: They may not get used but then again you never know! I love it when I go into a washroom and there are baskets like that, it makes you feel like they've thought of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE!! :wink:

Here's my list of ideas:
Water & Juice
Snacks (Perhaps include some Local Goodies? ;))
Take out/Delivery Menus
Bottle of good wine & cheap glasses (Ikea!)
Tourist Info
Travel Tags with your Names and the Wedding Date on them I've seen people include the kleenex, sewing kit, sanitary products, etc. in a basket in the bathroom at the reception.. You might consider getting a couple of nice soaps and lotions for the bathrooms if your location provides the pink soap.
