My grandparents 50th wedding anniversary is on the 21st of September, and my cousins and I are holding a big party for them on October 4th. It is a surprise party and since it is their 50th anniversary we are going to do it in 1950's theme. We are currently in the planning stages and getting everything together. Does anyone have any ideas for decorations, or food,and things that were popular back then. I have googled and researched as much as I can but thought it would be great to come to you ladies since you are so helpful and reliable. Of course I will share pictures and how it all went and keep you ladies updated with the progress. Here are a couple things we have so far:
1) everyone must come dressed from the 50's i.e. poodle skirts, leather jackets etc.
2) candy from the 50's as favors---- chiclets gum, fireballs, smarties, mary janes, and bazooka bubblegum
3) hot pink and black decorations
4) pigs in a blanket, root beer floats and popcorn for some of the foods(we want to keep it all finger foods)
5) 50's music(we are trying to gather it all, its pretty hard) a lot of dancing, the hokie pokie, the jitterbug, the bunny hop, the stroll
