soo... a landscaper i am NOT! however, yesterday we needed a bush trimmed back (the bush became somewhat of a tree and nobody could walk on the sidewalk up to our front door, they had to walk on the grass) Sooo i went to daddys and got a chainsaw, clippers etc etc.. i wanted to be prepared cuz i knew there were some thick branches hahah!! well i got a little clip happy and took down the whole dang thing.. Then i realized that there was another "bush" that used to be 2 feet high and now was up past the windows at least clearing 7 feet. Needless to say i took it down.. Our front yard is BARE. not a plant not a tree nothing.. i took it all down.. hehehehe FH pulled up and i swear i heard him go VANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNA!!!! and i walk out and go really coyly, "it was suposed to be a surprise, what do you think' Let me just tell you, there is a good 12 foot spot where the 7 foot tall "tree" was "shadowing" and there is no grass there or anything, just weeds and dirt!
hahaha i personally think it will be much better after i finish, yes I because fh said "van, im just not the handy type and im sure not a landscaper, hire somebody" but me being stubborn, im an able body and wont hire someone to do what i am capable of..
you should have seen me and my giant clippings, the neighbors kept walking by and asking if they could help hahahaah ill try to post a picture

You go girl!
I took on a plumbing project once and as a result, the same week, my SIL hung a ceiling fan by herself :)

LOL, that's funny. So now what are you going to do with the bare spots where the bushes once stood?
Are you up for hire? I have some trees that need "triming" too!! HEHE

I love clipping! When we have to clip our hedges I definitely get overzealous and make them look bare. Hubby thinks it looks bad, but those hedge clippers are therapeutic!

umm i am going to look at some pictures today to see what i want to do out front. im thinking thats gonna have to be while he is away too. I know its definatly going to involve multch some pretty stones. ill show a picture of the front of the house in a minute. it is from BEFORE we moved in so ill "draw" where the "bush" was up to.

Good going Vanna!
I'm the same way, I'll at least try to do it myself if I believe Im capable....then I'll hire someone if it turns out I can't:grinhappy:
maybe plant some grass seed or flowers where the "bushes" were.
It won't always be bare:)

In a way, you should be happy that you didn't make him happy with it! You'd be doing all the landscaping if you did.
Just to show FH I could, I insisted on putting together our DVD rack. Two DVD racks and a bookshelf later, I realized that trying to be a handywoman worked against me.

I feel your pain, I got out in the backyard last Wednesday to weed eat at bit....and an hour later I gave up....the line kept snapping off the weedeater b/c the grass (sawgrass) was sooo thick! And it was starting to look like it wanted to rain. But it took a day or so for me to feel it but once I did it felt like I couldn't lift my arms above my head! lol
Good job on your handy woman work though!:)
