Up the street, another huge tree came down and wiped out part of ANOTHER tree, and took down the electrical wires

Debris in the streets - in some areas, you can't tell the difference between the street and the yards, there's so much debris

Ok, this was creepy... their widening the main road by our house, and just put in a new drainage system (this road runs along the river) -- the water table is SO high, that it literally pushed the new drainage tubes up out of the ground!!

This was the only home (a couple blocks away) that we saw that was damaged - tree looks like it was either struck by lightning OR was diseased and weak, and came down on the front corner of their house.

Wowza! That is very scary! And to think, Eddie and I were amazed when a thunderstorm blew in and uprooted a couple of little tiny pine trees.

We are totally and 100% fine. We were without electricity for about 21 hours, but not a single tree down, no damage to the house or even the yard. Just a lot of debris, small branches, etc... we were very, very, VERY lucky. :grinhappy:

Holy! I can't get over the size of those trees and yet only one house (that you could see) damaged!
I am glad to hear that everyone is safe but I think I would be cutting down anything that might fall on my house if it happened again. That is just too scary!

I am very glad you're safe, and that it sounds like nobody you know was hurt. Up here we don't get hurricanes, but we do get bad storms and tornados that cause damage that looks exactly like what you're dealing with, so I know what you're going through!
Congrats on not being killed, and I hope that life gets back to normal sooner rather than later.

Ah, there's no way I'd cut down the trees. We live in an older area with lots of trees (and wildlife... owls, bats, squirrels, foxes, etc....) and much bigger lots/pieces of land than in newer areas. Not only is it really pretty and peaceful, but all the trees also keep our electric bills reasonable. :)

Thanks ladies... yeah, we're back to normal now. I spent the day yesterday cleaning up the yard debris, so now you'd never even know there was a storm. :)
