I will be an Aunt! My sister called last night to tell me that her doctor said that if she makes it to her next appointment on Monday, she will induce her on Tuesday.
I went to a sonogram three weeks ago with my sis and bil, the baby was 5 lbs. She had a sonogram late last week, they're estimating that the baby is now 8 lbs. Her due date is May 11th. The doc said that she doesn't want to let her go another 2.5 weeks and have the baby get too big. My sis keeps telling my bil that this is all his fault - big babies run in his family.
I told my sister that Aunt Stacey is going to be the coolest Aunt ever!!
Now, I need suggestions for gifts to take to the hospital - something for the new parents and something for baby (they don't know if it's a boy or girl yet). Any suggestions?

Congratulations, Aunt Stacey! They can always use diapers, and they are usually not gender specific. Good luck!

Yeah Karens right.......you can NEVER have enough diapers. AND.....if they dont open the package, most places will let them bring them back to exchange them for the next size up. If shes going to breastfeed, one of those pillows for the mom to rest her arm and the baby on are great. The cloth diapers make AWSOME burp rags. Receiving blankets are something else you pretty much cant have enough of. They always seem to get spit up on so youre always needing a clean one. Onsies are good to have too. My kids lived in them. Diaper wipes and a wipe warmer are a good gift too. And the baby bath and lotion and stuff. You dont realized how quick you go through it!
Congrats!!! Babies are always soooo much fun. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_2_79.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm414CPUS)

ohh how exciting! Congrats!
a nice gift for the parents might be aa home made coupon for 1 night of babysitting, so they can get some rest and sleep,
I could have used something like that, lol
and for the baby a nice a cuddly blanket, maybe some booties and a hat, hospitals are sometimes chilly!
I can't wait to hear what she has!

Those are great suggestions, Cindy! I especially like the diaper suggestion, I could have used it when my grandbaby was born. We bought a ton of newborn diapers (tiny) and he grew out of them in like a week. We couldn't exchange them because they were all open. We ended up giving them away. So my suggestion would be not to get a ton of newborn diapers; or, if you do, keep the receipt, and don't open the box.

If they already know the baby is big, Id start with size 1. NBs only fit up to 10 lbs anyway.

Something my sister said she used when my niece was a baby was mittens, so the baby doesn't scratch it's face. So maybe a cute little mitten and bootie set and a warm blanket.
Congrat, Aunt Stacey :D

How about matching pj's for Mommy and Baby? (maybe Daddy too?)

When my neice was born i brought a little baby lamb stuffed animal. My brother in law always remembered that. She slept with it in her crib for a long time. Not very useful, but i like that is was specail to John.
Definatly a pillow for holding the baby more comfortably. Also maybe a hat to go with the mits. Keep their little head warm.
Congrats on becoming an Aunt! It's so exsiting!

First of all, Congratulations on the new baby that is going to be joining your family!
I agree with a lot of the ideas the other ladies have given. Another idea for your sister and BIL, offer to make dinner one night and may be clean up the house for them. It will be one less thing for them to worry about while taking care of the baby. I know when a friend of mine had a baby last year, cleaning and making a nice dinner was the LAST thing on her mind.
Hope this helps a little. Let us now how things go!!!

Congratulations! All the ideas here are great. I have one more for the mom. Pregnancy can really run a girl down. Then with a new baby you don't have much time to think about yourself. So why not get her a gift certificate for a facial or a message or something to pamper herself. Maybe a manicure and peticure.
