As if it isn't bad enough that we're sharring our day with another couple in regards to the priest and church, but now our rehearsal is at 7pm the night before the Wedding!

It really upsets me because it's as if the other couple is getting the better end of the deal and We were the ones who had the paperwork in for the Church first!! :irked:

I really wish it was earlier.. I mean.. who goes out to dinner around 8 at night??? :purplex:

We have mostly adults in the wedding party, except the ring bearer and flower girl of coarse... so do you think it would be wrong to maybe get a sitter for the kids after the rehearsal and go out to dinner with the rest of the wedding party? The reason for not including them is because the place i wanted to go is like an Adult club.. they have slot machines.. Adult games... a bar.. similar to an Adult Chucky Cheese... lol

Does anybody have an opinion on if this would be acceptable.. i mean... 7pm for a rehearsal is late...then to have dinner at 8pm..well, that's why i thought this would be a fun idea!... idk! :bbconfused:

I'm sorry to hear you have to share your church/ priest with another couple... frustrating! I don't know where in NY you are, but in my area, a 7pm rehearsal isn't rare. Even when I make plans for dinner out with friends, we typically meet up at 7pm or later.. so I think 8pm for dinner would be fine. I think getting a sitter and having the "Adult Chuck E. Cheese" place is a perfect set up with the time. Hope all goes well!

I am sorry you feel like you are getting the short end of the stick. We are having our rehearsal dinner at 8, so I don't think its so late.

Sorry your stressing over this. Kudos to your for thinking ahead about a sitter for the kids alot of time this gets overlooked and some people feel left out if they are unable to continue in the festivities for lack of a sitter:grinhappy:

As to the time. I don't think 8 is too late for a rehearsal dinner at all. Some people will be getttin off work at 5 or 6, so 8 would give them plenty of time to get themselves together for the evening.

Our rehearsal was at 7pm. We just had the dinner before we had to be at the chapel.

Snowgdss: I'm in Buffalo, NY...

Hearing that you girls have around the same time ... i guess it isn't that uncommon. I just always thought it was earlier...

The more i think about it..the more i like the idea of doing the Adult thing. I don't want the kids to feel left out..so maybe we'll stop at a Mcdonald's and get them a happy meal! :D

Thanks girls for taking some stress away... I feel a little more hopeful of making this time frame work for us! :D

Yeah, I think we are planning on doing the rehearsal around 6 or 7. In fact, we have the same wedding date, so if you are having the rehearsal on the 21st, keep in mind that it is a Friday and some people may have to work, etc. You want them to have enough time to get home, shower, change, etc.

I think your idea of the adult nights out is fun!!

Really do you "have" to have a rehearsal at the actual place?

yeah, we actually do because we're getting married in our church and that's what the priest requires. Gotta love the catholic wedding! lol :D

Anyways.. so UPDATE GIRLS!!! I talked to FH and he loves the idea!

So.. we're gonna get a sitter for the kids and head out for happy hour and a night filled of adult fun after the rehearsal!! I love it because they are open till 2am!!! (i obviously won't stay that long because of my son, but grandma will probably go home early, so maybe i can talk her into taking the little guy to her place.. this way, he's there with daddy for the over nite stay for the morning of the wedding!!!

Oh, i'm so excited!!! I can't wait till next year this time!!!!! EEEK!!! :whoohoo:

Oh Boy. Am i glad i've not got to do any Rehearsal Dinner. For us getting Married in a Registry Office it's a great excuse to just turn up at the Hotel the Night before whenever We feel like it and Chill Out in the Bar. I have a table for 20 Booked just incase people from work want to pop in for the Evening. But other than that it's all cool.

And i think there's Three Weddings before Us that Day.

When i got Married First Time in a Church. We had a Ten Minute rehearsal on the Thursday Night at 8PM with TEN other couples who were getting Married the same day. :bbeek:
It was a sake of, OK Here's where You come in. This is where You walk to. Couple of "I Do's". Walk over there and sign a Legal Document and go out that door over there! We were in and out in under Fifteen Minutes.
(I hung around for a while till everyone went so i could have a go at getting down for the praying bit and get back up again without falling over after Knee Surgery)

On the Day there was a Wedding every Hour from 9AM (We were at 4PM) and the Last Bride to Say "I Do" was at 6PM.

Talk about a conveyor belt.

And back then i never once worried about any other Bride or Her Wedding. I just thought about My Own.

So for You to think ahead of the Younger Attendants is very thoughtful. I can imagine they would get very tired.

BTW Can You bring Me back a Happy Meal too

Sorry, but there's only so many Saturdays and Sundays in a year (being the most popular days to get married), and when you consider that some 2 MILLION couples get married in the U.S. every year, you have to realize that you're going to be vying for time and space.

7:00 p.m. isn't an unusual time for a rehearsal, nor is 8:00 "too late" for rehearsal dinner. Not at all. If you were having an early A.M. wedding (which the other bride might be having) then they'd probably have scheduled yours earlier (after all, you don't want to be out late the night before the wedding if you have to get up at the crack of dawn).

Just take a deep breath, and realize that while your wedding is the only one YOU'RE worried about, it's not the only one going on in the world that day. Just try to keep some perspective so you don't drive yourself crazy. :)

Good point Neebelung! I know.. i know.. i'm not the only bride to be in Buffalo, NY!!! lol

As for the time of the wedding... actually..that couple gets the earlier rehearsal time and the later wedding time! We're getting married before them! I'm ok with it now, but i still think if our wedding was in the first time slot for Saturday, then we should have been in the first time slot for the rehearsal..

I just really hope our wedding doesn't clash with the other couples.. it seems too close to me.. our wedding is at 12noon..theirs is at 1:30pm... i mean.. hello.. we still have pictures and everything!!! Are you kidding me???

I'll bring that up to the priest next time we talk....

I know we'd all like to think we are (but then all the other brides think the same thing of themselves, too ). Just hang in there, I'm sure it'll all work out fine. :)
