Keeping a journal looks like fun, so I will attempt to keep one. I also think keeping everything in one place will be helpful.
Our tentative date is October 3, 2009!!
And here is a picture of my lovely ring:

We are planning on getting married where I am from in western Massachusetts somewhere between Greenfield to Northampton. I have a list going that I might later paste into here.

FH wants to have the ceremony here which I completely agree.

Wow I honestly did not think about the color of the trees, duh. Now I really want the ceremony outside somewhere.

I am sad, because I wanted to have an aisle runner (was ready for the project) but then realized that we wanted the outdoor ceremony so it is out of the question (don't want to fall!). Now I am thinking of doing a simple covering the "aisle" with petals, maybe a mix of 2 colors.

I filled out this form online earlier to get a quote for a caterer and I just received an email from the chef and he said he's going to call tomorrow, crazy how fast that was. We haven't even looked at the possible hall we want to use. I'll probably just ask a few questions then say I'll get back to them when we know where we are having it.

Caterer has tried calling me two times, which seems a little too much for me. I've bee busy and haven't been able to return his call yet. I just sent him an e-mail and first cleared up that the $6,000 was our estimated budget for the whole wedding at that time, not the catering, lol cause I think he misunderstood that.
I am now super excited about this new place called, Summit View for our reception. I am going to call sometime this week to set up a tour!! It seems very reasonable prices for us and it's only about 20 minutes from where we want our ceremony.
I just went through and set up a budget and it came out to $8,750. I'm going to go through it with FH before finalizing it.

Centerpiece Idea #1:
Inspiration...

I have begun to look around for prices on candle holders like the ones pictured above. The cheapest bigger cylinder one I found was $7 (I think?) at the Christmas Tree Shop. If I see any smaller candle holders on clearance I'll start to pick them up.

I just posted a posting on craigslist in my area looking for a violinist. I was upfront for the price ($100) that we are willing to pay for someone to play during our ceremony. Hoping to get a response, we'll see.

Good news, a violinist responded to my ad already! She is sending me samples by the end of the week of her playing.
Lately I have been just browsing online places to add on to my already looong list of possible reception sites. Tomorrow we are going to one place, which is good.
I was thinking of songs for our first song, since we don't really have any songs that mean anything. I found this song that is my first choice: Not Fire, Not Ice by Ben Harper

So this is what I've been browsing for lately, just so that I know it's been done.
Invitations - I settled on a design that I would like to do with one of those petal invites. Seems like it would be easy to do. To do like 50 invites it would cost me about $90 to get it through paperandmore.com (http://www.paperandmore.com) as well as having the paper cut by them along with envelopes. Seems reasonable, I'll have to figure out how much for programs and place card/table settings later. I plan on buying a rubber stamp with a nice fall like design on it and using that on the invites and embossing it. And just using my printer to print out the text. And just remembered I need RSVP card/evnvelopes too....
Reception - Tomorrow we have an appointment at 10am to meet with the Summit View owner to get a quote. Online they list prices for food, and drink related stuff. No where about linen rental, rental fee, etc... They also have a pavilion outside so might look into that to have the ceremony there as well to make things easier.
Florists - If all goes well Saturday then we will stop at a couple Florists in that area (about 35 minutes away). I was going to do flowers myself but want to see prices first to have someone do the work for me.
Also looked at some wedding bands. I am having a simple one to match my engagement ring and FH wants a tungsten ring.

Thanks, I did check out most stores for those vases. The cheapest is still at the Christmas Tree Shop.
Figure the next thing I need to do shop for is dresses! There's a nice place in my town where I have bought 2 bridesmaid dresses so think they are good. I just asked my FH to not look at my attached photos (don't make an account), lol. That way I can put in wedding dress info here. They offer the Eden Bridal which I like and have attached photos of two dresses that I liked.

The reason there's so much going on is because I start my classes tomorrow actually. Trying to do/plan as much as possible, since the next time I'll have lots of free time will be late December, lol. My fiance and I do have our Saturdays available so will try to do some planning these days.

John and I went to our first choice banquet on Saturday and met with the owner. When we got there, the owner was actually not there, but some other worker talked with us and another person called his cellphone to see where he was. He ended up coming and answered our questions. My first thought with the place was it was perfect. Since our wedding is medium sized (around 75 people) this place looked like it would be a great size. The main thing I didn't like about the place was everything was a maroon color, the chairs, floor, wall, and table skirt. I would prefer to have a simple more white room. This place has great prices and the food is supposed to be excellent so it's still on our list.
While talking someone had suggested that we look at Stanley Park for an outdoor reception. We decided to just go drive to see it and it was breathtaking. They have this rose garden with stone walkways and a fountain in the middle. The only bad thing is its about an hour drive from my hometown, and they only allow 20 chairs.
On Saturday we are going to look at two other places so we'll see how those go! and we are also going back to Stanley park :)

Did you check at Wal-mart for the cylinder vases? I bought all of mine there for my centerpieces and they were $2.50/each. 10" tall by 3.5" wide.
And I love the Eden Bridal 1320 gown! Soooooo pretty!
Good luck with your planning!

Really? I checked ours and they had ones that were like $6 but were more like 2.5" wide, which I want wide ones. We have about 3 walmarts in the area, lol so will have to check them all out. Thanks

FH and I want to set a date and book our ceremony and reception place by the end of this week, and then go down next weekend to pay deposit if need be! Once that is done, then it will be more stress-free since I don't have to worry about the date I want being taken. It will most likely be at Stanley Park, here is a picture of me below there.
http://picasaweb.google.com/vanessa2012/WeddingInspirations#5243749023786702770http://picasaweb.google.com/vanessa2012/WeddingInspirations#5243749023786702770http://lh5.ggpht.com/vanessa2012/SMWJ9F4bl7I/AAAAAAAAAxo/UTCdAmq0fMs/s400/dsc_0031.jpg
As far as receptions go we will most likely have it at this Bistro that is right down the street from the park. We went to see it last Saturday and weren't overall very impressed with it. But considering our budget and having time to think about it, I think the place could work and be great.
I am hoping later this week to finally go look at dresses!! Depends on what time my lab classes get out.

Last night I got upset cause FH's parents tell him that he should not pay for a huge amount in the wedding. My parents are paying for the food/reception and FH is covering the rest, and hopefully in January I will be getting a job after I graduate and will help out FH with costs. His family is from down in PA so it is more difficult for them since they have to travel. They wanted us to think about having a small wedding up here in MA and then having something small down in PA for his family. I just got upset cause they are bring it up to FH everytime he talks to them and told him we should seriously think about it. And in December we are going down to visit for 1-2 weeks and I don't want any awkward times if the wedding is brought up.

I love the dresses you picked out! Tell us which one you choose!
Sorry about the wedding drama. Unfortunately, family drama seems to be part of the whole wedding package... Has FH talked to them about this and told them to mind their own business? My philosophy, which works really well, actually, is "They're your family, honey. YOU deal with them."

They end their conversations with "it's your wedding so do what you want" which is nice of them.
He tells them that things are more expensive now and that it is what we want.

We should just stop the searching for a reception hall, lol.
I just found ANOTHER place that looks nice so want to go look at it. We won't have time to look at it until the weekend after this though. I am going to call that ceremony place and book it, so pray that my date is still available (since the week before was already taken last time I talked to them).

Went to try on dresses today! I tried on about 5. I've decided on a style I like and am now looking for the one that fits what I want plus my budget. I really want to go to David's Bridal but it is a pretty long drive (about 40 min) which requires a full day to get people together.

My parents are asking me about when we are going to decide on a reception place so we can book it before it gets taken.
!!!!! This angers me because it just makes this more stressful, lol.
We don't have a available date to look at a new (and final place!) until the 20th. So I am hoping!!

Went to my 2nd bridal store and this one had such a better selection. I attached some photos of the dresses. My favorite was number 4, which sucks cause I would have to buy it off the rack, so I might just hold off and look for a dress very similar in the next few months so then I can order it.

Woho, the symbols above my number keys are not working so can't do any exclamation points, but I am excited.
Got a call from Stanley Park and we are now booked for NEXT September the 26th at 4:30pm. We decided to push the wedding earlier cause we'll have a slight better chance of it being nicer outside. I wanted the 19th, but that day was booked, so we settled with 26.
Now to look at the last place on Saturday and make a decision.
FH And I are going to a big fair this weekend, BigE. That'll be fun, and also on Sunday I am going with one of my BM to a wedding show, my main reasons to go to these are to try to win raffles, and try food/cake, lol.

This was the first place we walked away from it with the same feeling we walked away after seeing our ceremony place for the first time... excited, happy, and thought it was perfect.
So we have our reception place picked out. I am calling Monday to reserve the date for good just so it gives us a couple days to really think about it and not just jump on it.
The place was set up for 60 people and it looked great, which is good cause our wedding will be like 75. The only negative thing is it was the most expensive place we looked at, but its our max set on food, so it will still be good. It seems we'll just have to watch out how much we spend on the bar.

Congrats on booking a location for the reception!
Haven't yet booked but will this week, so pretty much official!
The bridal show was a lot of fun, this was my 2nd one and I don't know why more brides don't go to them. They gave out a prize of 3nights/4days trip to Las Vegas, and there were probably like 25 brides that had stayed for the drawings. So I had a good chance of winning, but sadly didn't. I won a prize, probably the least one I wanted. It's a 2 week session with a personal trainer and health assessment valued at 450 dollars. I would do it if it was in my home town, but don't want to travel.
Talked to a couple vendors, nothing really intriguing except I might meet with a Mary Kay consultant cause then she could do my make up for my wedding day for free.

Our reception is now officially booked, lol.
No need to worry about those areas of planning. It's nice cause now I can imagine decorations in that room.
This Saturday we are meeting a photographer to look at her portfolio, so hopefully that goes well. I also contacted four justice's of the peace in Westfield. Three have gotten back to me already so now just need to pick a first one to contact with, they all seem nice.

These are really tiny and think 1,000 of them are like 2 handfuls. So needless to say I don't think I'll be using to fill any glasses, since then they would be pricey. I am planning on scattering them on some table. I went to Michaels (had 25% off coupon) and bought a hurricane vase, so will add that to the box :) I also am waiting for the favor plastic boxes I got on ebay. I paid $25 for 100 of them and they come with tags and ribbons!
This will be nice with the wedding still aways to go I can take my time buying stuff up at good prices.

Two years?! Guess I won't complain about a year anymore, lol.
I told the lady selling the dress that I'll contact her next week and if she still has no interested buyers I will stop by and try it on. If it fits and I love it, then I'll buy it!

I am becoming a craigslist addict over here... Being available to go in the Boston (FH lives out there) and other side of the state (where I live) there are so many wedding-related stuff listed every day.
I found someone selling 144 votive holders so will probably try to pick those up.
HI! I Just read through your journal. I really like your inspiration pic for the head table. I was thinking some "low" like that too... so many times it seems like people put BIG flower setups or something on the head table... and then you can't see the bridal party! Your idea/inspiration pic is beautiful! :D

I am officially picking up 144 glass votives (like those pictured here: http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/bevfabriccrafts_2021_70572506) so have to find some storage room in a closet :)
John and I are having our engagement pictures done this Saturday! I am so excited and can't wait! We are having them done by the same photographer that will do our wedding.

The engagement pictures were earlier today, they were fun :D FH was really nervous before but I think while she was taking the pictures I ended up being the nervous one, lol. She took about 6 different poses, and at the end I was too shy to suggest other poses, plus couldn't really think of any when she said she could take another 20 pictures. She said she will contact me when the pictures are ready on the CD, so I can't wait!!!

Sure, I am paying $60 for 144 of them so about .42¢ a piece, and they are 2.5" tall.
I went to a different Walmart the other day that I don't usually go to and I was surprised on their wedding decor selection now. They had all sorts of good glassware that I don't remember finding only a month ago at a different one.

If you order from a place locally (im in florida so the port everglades is right here and we have a lot of local florist who get wholesale costs on flowers) you could possibly save money on delivery -also, i thought flowers were going to be MUCHO expensive but i got HUGE bouquets for my girls at 25 a piece and my bouquet was only 70$- with 9 girls, ya, it added up.. but in the end.. it works for me.. you might be able to find something in your budget. My florist told me with this economy florists are doing ANYTHING to get biz b/c people are choosing non floral centerpieces cuz of bad economy (read: no money to blow on a florist!) he gave me a package with 16 centerpieces, 9 bouquets, 3 corsages, 12 boutineers 1 bridal bouquet, ceremony decor and set up and delivery - 1480.00$ - he showed me that EXACT package from last year (on a different brides contract, specifically my cousins) and it was 3200.00 they are basically giving the stuff at COST
Vanessa - I read in another area of this forum about Sam's Club flowers ~ one of the girls commented that she worked for Sam's Club in the floral department and they take EXTRA SPECIAL CARE for delivery of wedding flowers ~ and if they show-up wrong or don't arrive, etc.. then Sam's Club will do the work ASAP to get you flowers from a local florist, for free! Anyway, the reviews and the pictures from several people were fantastic. (Wish I had the link but I was just surfing around reading).
Anyway, I went to the Sam's Club site and they have some AWESOME Bridal Sets you can purchase - several under $100 - which includes delivery. You order what you need and they send them to you!
You might try that for budget floral...

There is no Sam's Club near me :bbcry: The closest one is about an 1:30 minutes away. Do you need to be a member to order from them online?
I don't know about membership/etc.
I want to samsclub.com

"Delivery Items Only"
and went from there..
I don't know if you have to buy a membership ~ which is $40 for 2 people I think ~ but if you do, you get 30% off your order which is $30 on $100 so... I don't know. I was just suggesting what I found on this forum.

There are other places that are good prices if you need a large quantity of items.. jeez im totally drawing a blank but check places like pro flowers etc. i also know danielle got "predone" wedding flowers from an online place. they were beautiful

I like to make sure I keep this updates so that way it keeps track of things going on in the planning. To see more pictures just check it out on our wedding website: http://vanessajohn.weebly.com/photos2.html I ordered each one from snapfish in plain 4x7 and they came the other day and looked pretty well so might buy some larger versions. I am also in the process of putting together a photobook on shutterfly. From googling I found that shutterfly has the best photobooks and snapfish the best prints.
I bought some supplied to try making my own kissing balls. One of these included 100 green carnation type silk flowers (from ebay), hopefully they look nice in person. I've been really into the craft stores lately. Every weekend I am sure to have a couple coupons on me just in case we are near one, lol.

Been awhile since I wrote here because nothing has happened. I officially have one month left of classes! The DJ I contacted never e-mailed me back, probably because on his ad he said to call. My stepfather is looking into someone who usually does family weddings, so if he doesn't hear anything or he's out of our budget then I'll give that DJ a call.
I realized I should get back into dress shopping so I can put an order in if I get one in a Bridal store. On Tuesday I might be going down to one, so hopefully I have better luck than my last two dress shopping visits.
There's a big bridal show this Sunday, but I can't go which sucks. They are opening the show with a bridal gown blowout where they will have gowns for $199, hopefully they had nothing good anyways, heh.

Some wedding news!!
DJ is picked and just needs to be paid a deposit. He's a family friend and even though it's out of our budget he gave us a deal on what he normally asks.
Went to my third bridal store today. Seems like I'm finding more and more dresses I like, so that's good. I narrowed it down to 3 dresses at this bridal store, all 3 different. I also tried on a birdcage veil and depending on my dress might wear one. Here are links to the pictures:
1- chiffon w/ min amount of beading on top.

My plan is for next month to go to David's Bridal, and if that doesn't go well then go back to this store and pick and order one.
I like dress 1 or 2. Ever since Sweet Home Alabama, bird cage veils have been quite popular. I like them lots.

On Monday I am headed to David's Bridal to see their dresses so hopefully I will REALLY love one of them. It seems that most brides pick one of the first few dresses they try on, and I have tried on a total of about 13 dresses, lol. Well the one I've like the most is that all lace one in my previous post, so if I find nothing in DB then I'll head back and retry that one on.
Been trying to call the DJ, don't like to leave messages but will have too.
I have two final exams this week and I will be done with classes! I've also still been moving things from my room into FH's apartment. Our plans are to spend Christmas at my house/family, then drive down to PA and spend a week and a half at his family's house, then go back to his apartment which will be my new home!

GOT MY DRESS!!! I forgot to ask for the style number, and just went through all the dresses on David's Bridal's website and can't find it? It is a style most similar to this (http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=3353&prodgroup=10) one. I was just expecting to just try on some dresses but I don't know if it was because my mom was there, or if it was because this was my 3rd bridal store, because I just was ready to buy one when I was trying them on, lol. I had to put it on layaway cause I had no money on me, and did the 'ole "Bridezilla-show" thing where I looked at my mom, lol. She put it on her card for me so I can just pay her back.

I have almost not updated this journal in a month! Vacation was good, just relaxed most the time. I now OFFICIALLY live with FH, but it sucks cause he works during the day and I currently have no job and we live in a small apartment with his roommate so it's going to take me awhile to get used too. I have been submitting my resume off, so hopefully will hear something back soon.
Now wedding stuff, well there's nothing except the DJ is officially booked. Other then that I haven't even been thinking about wedding stuff. I am however ready to start the ball rolling again. I think i'll start off by looking at some checklists.

Yes those are great shoes, however I don't think my order will go through. Since DSW is having an issue with people using all the coupons that day on their website, even though it went through on the website.
I just ordered Save The Dates! I was also lazy so ordered flat note cards too so that way when they come in, it will be easy to get them ready to ship out. I ordered 100 magnets, we still don't have our guest list finalized, but this will give us a good reason to finally sit down with the parents to get it done. Once I get them in I will take some pictures!

Yeah probably should have talked on here about us deciding to do Save the Dates, lol. At first we were not going to do them, since FH and I thought it was just an extra thing to spend money on and do. Well my mom calls me last week and tells me how they got one from another couple and she loved them so told me that it would be cute if we had them too. So I do some research online and figure that it would cost us $75 to get them off of vistaprint and mail them. The more I looked at them online the more I wanted them, so now we are doing them, lol.
And also it's nice cause my parents are paying for the DJ costs now too, which makes us financially better too for the wedding.
I got mine off VistaPrint and people have RAVED about them! They were sooooo much cuter in person than online ~ and I "designed" them myself. You will not be disappointed ~ and choose the "SLOW" shipping and you'll still have them in about 3 days!!

I am a little worried that my font is too small, since I chose the small magnets. They are actually quite slow then, lol. I ordered them last Tuesday and they just shipped out these return labels. Which is strange, cause I read they are out of MA, pretty close to a town where I am at now.
Good news, my shoes shipped!! And I went to David's Bridal yesterday and paid off my dress, and took it home [well it's at my parents house, where I am keeping it]. 2 out of 4 of my bridesmaids went to look at dresses, one was working and another didn't return my call. We narrowed it down to 3 that we liked. We are going back in a few months to make the purchase. I will definitely be calling everyone a couple weeks beforehand telling them to come so they can order their dress.
Now bad news, I was browsing the reception site's website last night and saw that they raised the meal prices from $40 to $50!!!!! That is a crazy difference. We reread the contract after and they state they "will not exceed prices by 10% annually" So if that's true then it would be more like $45 a plate. Still makes me angry, because money seemed to be going well and as planned.
And last subject... I am angry because ever since moving here to FH's apartment, I have received NO mail. My name is on the inside of the mailbox, but I still get nothing. My college tried sending me stuff, but it got returned. We also got a joint checking account and my card hasn't come, but FH's did. Argh hopefully the post person will realize I am here.

I started receiving mail late last week, so thankfully now the post office knows I am here.
My shoes came in the mail, and they ended up being too big. I went to DSW and exchanged them for another pair since I liked how these were more comfortable. I couldn't find a picture online so took one myself. Since I received money back from the exchange these shoes ended up costing me only $14 :)

Thanks!! I love the way the STD's turned out and am almost ready to mail them all out!!!
I sent a message to all my friends with links to BM dresses I liked. I am seriously thinking of going through netbride.com. I submitted for a price quote yesterday so am looking forward to hearing from them.

So I've been spending a lot of time browsing bridesmaid dresses online because I've decided to definitely go through netbride.com. I went through the list of designers they order from twice. I now have bookmarked about 30 dresses that I liked.
Next I'm going to go through them again to make sure I do like them (since my tastes always change, especially after looking at many many dresses). And also to double check that they offer the dress in my color.
Hopefully after this I will only have 10 final dresses. I will then send them to all my BM and ask them what dress they definitely do not like.
Then I will get price quotes on the remaining dresses and then make a final decision... Tell my girls the choice then order them and have them delivered at my house.
Can you tell I probably watch too many reality television shows, lol.

I like Eden 7211 ~ the flirty little "ruffle" at the bottom is unique!

I love all the dresses and don't know how to make a final decision...
I went through and removed and added a couple because I focused on a couple of designers that don't add a large extra fee for ordering a larger gown to make it easier for some of my girls. Down to 11 dresses, going to show more bridesmaids today to see what they think.

I love the Edens too, they also seem like good quality and a reasonable priced.
I e-mailed netbride.com with the 8 dresses asking for price quotes so am EAGERLY waiting for those. FH said I spent more time on BM dresses than my own, lol.
Last night I purchased a piece of french netting on ebay for like 3 bucks. I will try to make my own birdcage with it, so we'll see how it turns out. I still haven't decided between birdcage vs. regular veil.
I just called our first pick florist to make an appointment for Saturday but instead of transferring me to the florist I think she disconnected me, so will try back again in awhile.
Finally, I also made some slight changes to our wedding website, mostly that whole Details section.

Called the florist and they have 2 weddings scheduled on my day! The lady said I could do a pick up, and they would have my flowers ready packaged in a box. Not sure what to do, because I want this place because I know they have great price. But don't want to be sort of left to the side.
I searched online for other florists and there are many, but there's not much information and I really don't feel like calling/visiting all these places.

Today in the mail I got my sample silk rose petals [which is free to get btw] from Petal Garden (http://www.petalgarden.com/), they have good deal where you get 1,000 petals for $18. I'll probably go with the light green, since I want dark brown table runners. Oh I wanted chair covers but they cost $5 per chair at the reception place. Def don't want to spend that much.

Finally have the baker and florist going here. On the 21st we are meeting with our original choice for baker. They are going to have 5 samples of their cakes ready, so am excited for that.
Today I called a florist and we are meeting them on the 21st also. I found the place online and they had good online reviews. We have a set budget of $400 for flowers, so we'll see how far that takes us with this florist. Other pros is that they have no other weddings that day, and are located in the same town as our reception.
I got the french netting off ebay and it is really nice, I however realized that it was too narrow for the look I want. I posted on the selling section here on OW hoping to give it to another bride to be. I will probably wait awhile before ordering a wider netting.

Next Saturday is going to be BUSY, we are meeting with the baker, florist, and officiant back to back. I just hope there is no issues with time since I booked them back to back. I did this because we don't get out to that area very often.
FH and I have also decided to have a candy buffet for the wedding. Not sure exactly yet since it is more expensive than favors.
I also sent a note to all BMs asking them to get measured and give me their sizes so I can order the BM dresses. I decided on the eden 7211, so am pretty excited about that.

03-23-2009, 03:04 PM
I've purchased two sets of earrings off ebay in the past couple days, lol. I bought a pair of nadri earrings for $50, and these cute dangle ones for $10. I can't wait for them to come in and I can see how they look. My goal now is to have a nice set of earrings with no necklace. I was looking at a bridal magazine the other day and I just noticed how it looks elegant.
All the meetings on Saturday went great.
First was the cake tasting, we tried various flavors and decided that the bottom layer was going to be vanilla with rasberry filling, middle layer will be marble cake with chocolate filling, and the top will be vanilla and vanilla. The cake will be 3 circle tiered. It will have green tinted frosting with chocolate scroll work done. On top for now will be a chocolate fondant bow. The baker said our cake would look "funky" which is fine with me.
Then we went to a Florist. She told me I had expensive flower taste, and at first gave us a $500 estimate for all the bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages. I told her we wanted to stay under $400, so she downsized the bouqets to get us to that price. It still seems crazy to me to spend that much on flowers, but I know they will look awesome. My bouqet will look something like this, hand tied with brown ribbon.
http://sites.google.com/site/vjwedding09/Home/ceremony/gorchirds_hydrangeas_wrose.jpg
The last meeting was with the officiant and she was really nice. She gave me this binder filled with readings to go through, and we are meeting in a couple months at the ceremony site to further discuss things there.
Still haven't ordered the BM Dresses yet, waiting to get everyone's sizes so I can order them online. Hopefully this will be done by the end of next month.

Ok we have been going all over with where to go for our HM. But we have finally agreed and started planning on... MAUI, HAWAII :ura1:
We are going to go through vrbo.com. We are planning on two weeks, but trying to decide if we should stay at the same condo for the whole time or split it up between two.
amunet
04-03-2009, 03:54 PM
I have done major research into Hawaii. As of now we want to do two weeks, one in Maui and one in Kauai. The total cost of this HM would be almost 5K. Not sure if we even have the money to do this, so we'll have to discuss it for a few more weeks before making any reservations.
But there seems to be so much awesome stuff to do, like they have those ziplines that look like so much fun, and I've never went snorkeling before so that sounds fun too.

Recieved my order from cardsandpockets. Great service and products, I can see why they are highly used by DIY brides. I received a swatch of their metallic green {meadow} to use as invitation mats. The color seemed too dark, and their other colors seemed too light from online.
http://forums.onewed.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4822&stc=1&d=1244045350
I am going to make an order soon from paperandmore because they have a green that looks better {fairway}. The order from cardsandpockets was about over 100 dollars, and this next order will be about the same price. But I figured out with all this paper I will be set for invitations, programs, place cards, and table numbers, or at least I hope so. I'm glad I budgeted out so much on paper projects!!
We called the hotel to block off rooms about 2 weeks ago, and have not recieved a call back, so will probably have my stepdad try and call. We weren't really sure how to ask about blocking off rooms and asking for a discount...
I made a small order from an Ebay seller (dreampartycreation) for ivory tulle (sure can be used for something) and also green ribbon 7/8" to wrap each invitation with.

I have been making a HUGE shopping list of what is needed for the wedding. It's about three pages long on lined paper.
I made two paper orders today like I had mentioned earlier. One through cardsandpockets and got metallic brown place cards, I figured I would do this so I don't have to worry about cutting or buying too much paper. And then I made an order through paperandmore and got lots of green metallic cardstock, ivory metallic text paper, and ivory vellum.
Oh, I forgot to mention I ordered my ring bearer pillows from an Etsy seller. I will be getting two, for my twin brothers to hold. They will both be ivory, one with brown ribbon, the other with green. I can't wait to see them :)
Today I made my girls a Timeline, here is what I came up with so far. I took clipart from this link: http://weddings.shanbritedesigns.com/templates.htm

And in the end we will probably be 2,000 over budget, and not even counting any honeymoon *sigh*. I will hopefully start working soon, so I can save up what I can and help out with payments.
Been ordering some stuff online. Ribbon, stamp ink, and mugs for the ring bearers.

amunet

to checkout or not?
PROS:
-get things done and don't have to worry about them
-probably some nice quality
-shipping on this site is expensive so better to bulk buy
CONS:
-living in very limited space so having a HUGE box to hold for three months would probably take up walking space
-might find better deals elsewhere
In my cart:
13" Metal Birdcages $9.99 each SPECIAL
$9.99
Preserved Green Basil Hydrangeas (3-5" flower head) 3 flowers for $10.99
$54.95
Artificial Grass Long Green Grass 226 blades (32") $5.24 each / 12 for $3.74 each
$5.24
Natural Curly Willow Branches (27-30" tall) 11 -12 branches for $3.99 bunch $51.87
---------------
Subtotal: $122.05
Shipping: $20.20
Tax: $0.00
Total: $142.25
I say buy. You want this stuff and later you might not be able to find it and you only have three months. Looks like good deals, actually. And I'm a cheapie when it comes to buying things! You'll have to let us know what you did!

I decided to wait a month and then I'll make an order. I am hoping that this other site will have curly willow in stock over this time, if not then I'll just order it from save-on-crafts.
Life has been pretty busy, I started my new job this past Monday. It's full time working as a research assistant at a hospital in downtown Boston. My commute is a little over an hour each way, but it's all on a bus and train so I get ample time to read now.
In one month I will have invites out in the mail, I need to start creating my draft here :bbeek:
We are getting married 09~19~09 and I mailed the invites today. Technically, the 8-week mark is 07~15~09 but I figure the ones out of state will take a few days to get there. We were soooo excited to get them out there (and to get them OUT of the house! HA) My FMIL had been carrying several off anyway... delivering them to friends. So, they are done. Good Luck with yours and I hope they go smoother than mine did ~ I had to redo 50 envelopes cuz I forgot to put stamps on the RSVPS. Ugh.

I had my bridal shower last Saturday. It was mostly planned by my mom with the help of some of my bridesmaids. It was in my parent's backyard and was good weather. We played one game, where there was a list of questions about me that everyone had to answer. There were some pretty hard questions on there, and one of my BM's mother ended up getting the most correct.
I had so many gifts!! Mostly from my grandmother who gave us a Cedar chest (beautiful) filled with small things for the house. Too bad we live in a small apartment and sadly can't fit most of it.
The party was supposed to be a surprise, which it sort of was. I knew I was having my shower that day, but not sure on details. Lots of good food, and a huge cake. It was great to see all my friends together, haven't gotten a chance to hang out with them much. After the party we all went to the movies and got ice cream.
I am writing Thank You notes now, which is taking awhile, hopefully I can get them out this weekend. I will post some pictures once I get some.

I put in my huge order to save-on-crafts and it arrived the other day. I was pleased with everything, but the basil hydrangeas they sent were squashed! I have them out of the box now, hopefully maybe they'll relax open a bit. I sent an e-mail to their customer service, but no response yet. I really don't have any more money to go towards other flowers, so hopefully these will do.
I had my first dress fitting last week also. I hadn't tried on my dress since I bought it back in December so was sorta worried. It turns out the dress fits good on the top, and only need it hemmed and a bustle. I can't wait for my second fitting, I will try to bring a camera so I can get a pic of my in my dress!! I am also going to bring my seamstress the russian netting I bought for making a birdcage veil (which is difficult for me) to see if she can do something with it. If not she said she'll make me a simple veil.

Thanks everyone for your comments! Notice my new signature, RSVPs have started to come in.
We are very very excited for the wedding and aruba.
There is still a list of things to do, hopefully we can try to do some of them this week. Most important is to pick music for the violinist and DJ and also to find favors [probably doing truffles].
I went to get my hair trial done yesterday, but it was supposed to be next weekend. So I had to reschedule it, so now its next month on the 12th. I got my haircut last week and she cut it shorter than I wanted it, it's above my shoulder. Still trying to decide between birdcage vs. regular veil.
Yes the customer service at save-on-crafts did respond a week later saying that the item is currently out of stock, and they will let me know when they get more in. Since the date is fast approaching I hope they get some in soon.

Had my second fitting on Tuesday, dress is looking nice and can't wait until my next fitting when the bustle will be done.
Still can't decide between a veil, so my seamstress is making me a plain birdcage, and I bought a simple 1-tiered veil off of ebay. So now I have two choices, which I can wait until that day to make.

I got my veil that I bought on Ebay, I'll post a picture later, now I have to iron it out somehow.
So many little things to do, and I can't wait to see it all come together.

So 12 Days away... I made a final checklist of stuff to do, and it's quite a bit (mostly printing all the paper stuff needed and finishing my DIY bridesmaid gifts).
I got a handheld steamer yesterday so will steam my veil and the table runners I had bought. On Saturday we visited all the vendors and paid them up, so that feels pretty good.
My current project are table numbers. I will probably sometime this week just take a bunch of pictures of things so I can share them with everyone here.

One Week From Today...
I just can't believe it, all this time spent planning has flown by and it's all coming to an end.
I am super excited for next weekend to marry my sweetie :) And also for vacation from work!
I am also on a rollercoaster with the weather for next Saturday!! It goes from rain to no rain about every day. Right now the weather is: http://vortex.accuweather.com/adc2004/common/images/wxicons/52x40/01.gif
Brilliant sunshine and warmer
High 74, Low 32 F
Hope it stays at this current prediction!
We still have not met with the DJ. He had a family emergency during our meeting last weekend, and we were going to have a conference call, but my cell phone wasn't working. So hopefully soon we will finally be able to touch base with him.
The thing I am most worried about is my bridesmaids... I have not heard from them in awhile, and I sent them a message reminding them about Rehearsal (which is this Friday!), and also inquired about dresses, since no one has said anything recently about how their dress fits (as far as I know no one saw a seamstress).
I still need two 7.5" cylinder vases, I have looked everywhere and didn't want to pay shipping online. I might just get the 8" ones at Michaels and just mix them in with my other 7.5" ones. They are to hold the bouquets during the reception so no biggie.

I have this final list made, and have been hacking away at it. Today I am going to finish the printing for the wedding programs and have been working on personalized CDs I am making for the bridesmaids.
I bought 30 paper lanterns to hang over the dance floor and since no one is home during the day I have to venture to some warehouse today to pick it up. I bought snow white and natural white, and am leaving the reception hall to hang them up for me.
FH (not for long!) still has not purchased all his GM gifts. He didn't want to buy them the usual gifts (watch, mugs, etc.) He bought one of them a nice bottle of patron, and is going to buy another GM a gift certificate to a book store.

Figured since I had the time (today we termed as "relax day") no plans but some wedding stuff and bumming around the apartment.
Here are some bachelorette party pics!! We went into Boston and ate at this German restaurant which was really good. We then walked to a couple bars and this one place had a band, so we danced and then came back to the apartment.

I can feel the stress once in awhile with not getting everything I want to get done, done. Got all the wedding programs printed today, now just have to figure out a way to bind them, either by staple or by hole punch and ribbon...
I gave FH the job of finishing up my pomander balls, lol. I cut and folded all the tissue paper a couple months ago, the paper flowers just need to be "openend" and put in the ball.
I will post some more pictures either tomorrow or Tuesday on updated crafts.

Finished the programs last night! I made 50 of them figured that would be enough. Tonight will be working on the centerpieces, maybe we can get them done all tonight??
The weather is looking cool (high 60s) but sunny, with rain in the late evening. So should be safe.
4 more days!
Just want to tell you CONGRATS and have a GREAT DAY!!!! :hearts:

Just want to tell you CONGRATS and have a GREAT DAY!!!! :hearts:.
Thanks!! Only 2 more days :)
I still have things I need to do, mostly pack for the honeymoon. I wanted to get my girls flipflops to go in their bags I got them, but I searched yesterday and could not find any with a wide range of sizes, shouldn't have waited till the end of the season. I think there's enough stuff for them: the duffle bag, flasks, pashmina, cd i made them, and simple necklaces i made them.
I went upstairs in the attic to grab the wedding things I bought awhile ago, and I'm still missing a few things, so will have to search all tonight.

I have my TTD today! I am nervous because I am walking around Boston in my wedding gown, so sure I will get some stares. The weather is great today (for being Nov) so am happy about that. I have been trying to decide what to wear with my dress. I wish I had black boots, cause I would so wear them! I will probably just end up wearing the same heels I had during the wedding. I am just wearing my pear earrings as jewelry and going to put my hair half up/half down.
We are going to be in the Quincy Market and Rowe's Wharf area.
Oh how exciting! I can't wait to see them!!!!!!
