Well, I am back home and married (!!) and I have so much to tell you about! Just a warning – this is going to be long!!! I don’t have my pro pictures yet, but we have gotten a few people to upload to our photobucket account so I can tell the story of the day (or week more like it) with pictures!

Patrick and I arrived in Vermont on Tuesday – to pouring down rain – and a forecast for more of the same for the rest of the week. At this point I stopped paying attention to the forecast for Saturday since I didn’t want to freak myself out to badly, but it wasn’t looking good…

The first thing we did was to head over to the court house to get our marriage license – what an interesting experience! My dad knows the clerk (being a wedding officiate, and also coming in for permits to the town dump! LOL!) and so we sat in his office and chit-chatted while he typed up our license on a TYPEWRITER! I love small towns! Here we are marriage license in hand!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0061.jpg
On Wednesday Patrick and I took my load of decorations (including the “biggest cupcake stand ever” that I posted about before) over to the restaurant and we were able to get it all set up since they weren’t having another event there before ours. I didn’t think I would be able to get the chance to do that and it took a lot of the stress off of Saturday – which is when I thought it was going to happen! It was fun to have Patrick there helping me put it all together, and my brother’s girlfriend Allison was awesome help too. This was before we were done – but it gives you an idea of the room

Thursday was another busy one – since that is when all our friends and family were getting into town. Mom and I finished up the guest bags, and Patrick and I delivered them to the hotels. I think they came out pretty cute:
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0072.jpg

After that Pat and I drove around scouting out locations for us to do pictures in if it was pouring down rain on Saturday. We had two hours scheduled for pictures of the two of us before the ceremony and we wanted to make sure they weren’t all in mom and dad’s living room! We found a great old barn that belonged to a friend of my dad’s and a few other maybes – covered bridges and the porch of a big hotel… then it was time to meet up with the photographer and take him around to all the locations we found. That took a few hours – he was loving Vermont – and kept taking pictures with his cell phone and sending them to his wife back in Vancouver!

After that it was time to pick up Patrick’s parents and bring them over to my family’s house for dinner – it was the first time our parents met each other, and it went awesome! Patrick and I made dinner for everyone, and we had a great time chatting and drinking a lot of wine!

Friday morning I met up with my friend Jenn at 8am for breakfast and then the two of us met my mom for our mani/pedi appointment. I am so glad we scheduled to do that – it was nice to just relax and be pampered a little bit before all the craziness.

Right after the appointment we headed back to my parents house to start getting ready for the bbq that night. Patrick and I had decided the night before that rather than move it inside we would rent a tent for the weekend and hope it didn’t storm too badly – we had been having downpours with thunder and lightning all week! And if it kept raining we would just do the wedding under the tent too. I really didn’t want to have to be inside, and even though we had access to the old stone school house next door I didn’t want to have to get married in it! (remember this wallpaper??)

Mom, Jenn (MOH), Allison (my brother’s GF – or GOBOB as we referred to her – Girlfriend Of Brother Of Bride), and I all spent the morning in the kitchen of the stone school house cooking up a storm for the bbq. Here is Jenn working on my mom’s bean salad recipe. Don’t worry; the pineapple juice was for something else!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0073.jpg
Alli and I serving up some pulled pork – I haven’t eaten pork since high school, but I have to admit that stuff smelled good! We got it from the Farmer’s Diner which specialized in fresh, local, organic food.
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0076.jpg
And my mom, working on the fruit:
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0080.jpg
Then it was 4pm and time for the rehearsal! The one thing I was nervous about was the musicians – I had never heard them play, and while they came highly recommended by a friend of ours I was still a little uneasy. As soon as I heard the guitarist start playing though – I got chills. He was absolutely amazing. We did a quick run through of the ceremony, and when we got to the part where Patrick and I were going to take communion and the soloist was going to sing, dad had her do just a few lines and I immediately started tearing up – her voice was absolutely incredible! I have a small clip of video from the ceremony where you can hear her, and it still makes me all teary!

Okay – on to the BBQ. It was so fun to see all our friends and family show up – almost everyone made it to dinner – I think only three people who were coming to the wedding didn’t make the BBQ, so everyone got a chance to meet each other and relax a little. Here is our set up – with the crazy red and white striped tent that made it look a bit like a circus!

And, miracle of miracles, by the end of the BBQ the skies cleared and actually saw the sun!

On to Saturday!!
Saturday morning I was afraid to wake up and see rain again, but it turned out to be beautiful blue skies with just a few puffy white clouds – perfect! Patrick and I were supposed to meet my brother and (Pat’s BM) Will at 9 am to start taking down the tent, and setting up for the ceremony…well it turns out that a big group went out for drinks after the BBQ and Tim and Will didn’t get there until almost 11!! Since we were short handed I pitched in and actually drove the tractor around a bit! How often do you see a bride on a John Deere on her wedding day!?
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0137.jpg
Here is our ceremony spot – all ready to go!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0142.jpg
And the arch – with the amazing table that my dad made for our wedding present. The wood was from trees on land that has been in my family for 300 years!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/vt-12.jpg
The chairs all set up with my fan programs in place. It actually turned out to be hot, and I loved seeing people using those things! They were a pain to make, but I think they were worth it in the end!

We had this table set up for guests to write little notes on the cards attached to the wheat – then the wheat went in the vase, and the vase was carried upfront for the altar
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0148.jpg
My aunt is a florist and did an amazing job on my flowers – the only time I teared up other than during our communion song was when I saw my bouquet –
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/352109918_img_4087.jpg

My hair and makeup gals got there at noon, and we started getting ready – and that is when I started in on the champagne! It’s funny, I was fully expecting to get nervous or anxious, but I really felt relaxed and happy the whole time. I figured as soon as I sat still to get my hair done it when the nerves would hit, but instead I wolfed down a huge lunch and had a great time! I know Jenn got some pictures from that, but I haven’t gotten them from her yet…

Patrick was already dressed, and I could see him walking around waiting for me through a crack in the door – he looked so handsome! Once I was finally prettied up and dressed the photographs started – we took a ton of pictures of mom helping with the final touches – doing up my buttons and putting on my shoes, and then it was time for the first look! I will have to wait for the pro pics for that – but I know he got some great pictures and I am super excited to see them! We ended up not going to any of the locations we had scouted out. There were enough spots around mom and dad’s house that we took about a million pictures. There are a few that my photographer showed me in the back of the camera – they are going to be beautiful!

Okay, on to the ceremony!
Here is dad, getting things started –
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/352111488_img_4094.jpg
And Jenn. Looking good! Her dress turned out perfect!

The processional – here we come!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/JacksSPwedding041.jpg
I just couldn’t keep my eyes off him! I was looking at Patrick almost the whole way down.

The ceremony was awesome…I thought it would all go by in a blur, But we were so relaxed that I was able to really listen to what my dad was saying, and I still can remember most of it…I remember worrying that I forgot to put sunscreen on and that I was going to get a sunburn on my back. What a silly thing to be thinking about! Here is the beginning:
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/JacksSPwedding047.jpg
This is where dad was reading a paragraph that Patrick had written about me – I love how it looks like we are having our own private conversation:
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/JacksSPwedding052.jpg
The vows…Pat and I wrote them together so I knew what was coming, but it was so cool to hear the words coming out of his mouth!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/JacksSPwedding057.jpg
The rings! I guess the photographer had a hard time getting a close up shot because dad’s binder was in the way, but luckily my uncle got these!

My dad did a great job – I knew that if he started to get teary that I would loose it, but luckily we both kept it together…until that communion song!! We had the soloist do a rendition of Heavenly Day, and it was perfect…here is a link to a short clip so you can hear her voice:
http://gs75.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://gvid75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0159.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1
And here is a picture – notice the handkerchief out and ready!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/JacksSPwedding069.jpg
The blessing:

Pronouncement:

Phew! We made it! Now on to the reception!!
We stopped on the way to the reception to take a few more photos, and I guess we missed the hot air balloon going right over the deck while everyone was outside getting hor’s dourves!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/JacksSPwedding089.jpg
I was super excited to get there and see my cupcakes all set up! So pretty!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/352112401_img_4099.jpg
We did some toasts – We had my brother and Patrick’s dad assigned toast duty, and they both did an awesome job. Tim’s was very heartfelt and sweet – and Pat’s dad’s cracked everyone up – mostly because he asked for grandkids!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/vt-19.jpg
Dinner was unbelievable. That is all I can say about it! The food was amazing! We had a few minutes between courses to get up and talk, but as soon as we saw the next round coming we headed straight back to our seats so we wouldn’t miss a bite! My cousin’s fiancé took this picture – we both look kind of tired – but mostly we were stuffed!

There was some dancing (even though we hadn’t planned on it, and got in trouble with the manger when the ceiling started shaking in the restaurant downstairs!)
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0189.jpg
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/DSCF0184.jpg
And then time to cut the cupcakes!
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/352118386_img_41371.jpg
http://gi75.photobucket.com/groups/i309/638DMILXSY/352117981_img_41341.jpg
After dinner was all over we went back to my parents house for a bonfire and s’mores – Will and Jenn went ahead and lit the fire and all the lanterns so it was just beautiful when we pulled up. Unfortunately we were so tired that we just had one s’more and then called it a night! I guess everyone else stuck around for a while and played guitar and talked, but we were just beat!
And that’s it!!

Thanks Elizabeth!! It was about as perfect as it could have been. I asked my mom if she knew of anything that went wrong, since I couldn't think of one single thing...she told me they found the best man's corsage in the fridge the next day, so I guess he didn't wear it, but I never even noticed, and between the two of us that is the only snag we could come up with!

BTW - For his day job dad is the pastor of a Mennonite church, as well as being a licensed marriage and family counselor - the woodworking is just for fun! I am a little biased, but I think my parents are pretty phenomenal!
