Hello everyone,

Just taking a "poll" here to see if you normally have an assistant with you? I can see getting away with just you but then there's that one moment where you need to be in two places at one time at the last minute... So is it worth having an assistant for the whole time or go solo?

I like to have someone with me, I usually try to get a friend to go with me. Usually it is only during the ceremony that I need someone, to cue the musicl or send the guys out and such. There have been a couple of times we used cell phones as walkie talkies ;) Most of the time I end up going alone though, unless it is a wedding in a large church or something. Sometimes I will appoint someone there to help (friend of the family or someone like that) they usually like the idea ;)

Do I always have an assistant? No. Would I prefer to always have one? Yes.

My assistants are generally ladies who are interested in persuing the wedding planning profession and want to see what really goes on behind the scenes. I tell them that I will be happy to let them shadow me for the day, but to be aware that I will put them to work, so they better have comfortable shoes.

It's really great to have an extra pair of hands to help cue the musicians, and all of the planned details, but absolutely crucial to have someone when that unexpected thing happens that demands your attention right now or there's gonna be a disaster.
