My FH and I met online so I somehow want to incorporate that into the reception i'm just not exactly sure because i wanted my theme to be butterflies because they are beautiful and I have a butterfly tatoo, but at the same time i want to incorporate the online dating part as well. I was thinking of going with the butterfly them for deco and maybe as favors having personalized mouse pads or something. Anyone have any other ideas on how to incorporate the both ? Does the butterfly deco and mouse pads as favors clash to much?

I don't think they would clash. We are having a black & white damask theme but with several incorporated geek elements, like a Mii cake topper. I'm not doing any specific to make them work together, but I think it will turn out fine.

You can definitely incorporate them together, if you want though! You could put a butterfly image on the mousepads. If you have a groom's cake, you could have it shaped like a computer, with a butterfly atop it.

maybe you can incorporate the internet theme in your invitations - making them look like an e-mail - just a thought

I don't think it will clash and I like the idea of mouse pads with butterflies on them

I don't have anything to add, but both of your suggestions already are super creative. Good job guys!

Have mousepads with a butterfly motif on them! :) or did you live far apart? You could have a map with a little butterfly and its 'jet stream' showing from your place to FHs.

It might be better to have a sentence or typed theme to incorporate the two. Like 'Fluttering thru the net'

That's pretty cool!

I agree that there shouldn't be a clash... I'm thinking of having butterflies in my decorations/bouquets, and as we are both geeks (and met online also!) I will prob set up a screen for slideshows and vids, probably with geeky elements in them. The mouse pad idea is great! My brother has offered to practically sculpt us a cake - a full Warhammer 40k scene with little miniatures to represent me and DH. This would have nothing to do with any themes, but would be awesome nonetheless! I think it's more about what expresses you and your FH more than what doesn't 'class'.... I'm sure it will all be lovely!!! Good luck :grinhappy:

Sounds like it will work just great. Maybe keep it a little modern themed with the butterflies so the technology parts feel more natural.

Not sure how much they are, but I believe they were somewhat "affordable" (I haven't looked, since I'm at work, but just wanted to throw this in...)

I love the idea of mouse pads, (although, I look at my mousepad, and it's REALLY dirty right now....) you might also look at a small USB key, like 256MB? They are super-useable, and they might think of you two "connecting" when they connect it to their PC? (Corny....I know.)

I know 4Imprint has them that you can get personalized, but 4Imprint as a company has been pretty expensive in my book, so you might shop around.

I don't have any suggestions for you but I wanted to let you know that I feel your pain.

We are having a winter kind of theme but I insist on wearing my cowboy boots and we both want a western flare. Hard to incorporte both.

Thanks everyone for your input. I really like the saying of "fluttering thru the net." That's so cute.
