Where do I want to go for my honeymoon? EVERYWHERE. Italy, Greece, Switzerland, to Germany to visit my family, Portugal, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Denmark, Malta, Argentina, Alaska, Iceland, Kauai, Thailand, India, Morocco, Egypt, New Zealand, Australia ...

We were considering training through Europe, but do I want to travel that much during my honeymoon?

I seriously have such a craving and desire to visit so many places on each continent. Where do I even start? What can I afford? I'm not even sure as we have 11 more months to save and probably need to save about $3,000 more. But overall we can't spend a ton. We are paying the whole wedding ourselves and hoping that we can get the honeymoon in pieces as gifts from family, and who knows what they might give.

There are so many varying costs with all the different places to go and with the schoolyear starting I just don't have time to research all the options for all the places I might want to go.

I also thought about a cruise, but I just don't know! So indecisive!

What's my dream honeymoon? Again, I have no idea what I'll want then. Maybe lying on the beach, maybe seeing amazing history and architecture, maybe a great nightlife ... aaaahhh! :bbeek:

I need help. Where do I even start?

I really don't know what to tell you. Maybe go for places that are more romantic or have special meaning for the two of you. I've heard cruises are nice, especially because it's very inclusive.

Go for a laid-back vacation. You're going to be exhausted after the wedding. At first we had thought about going to Europe too, but then decided it was just going to be too much work, planning, constantly on-the-go, etc. You have your whole lives for travelling - why not spend your honeymoon relaxing in each other's arms.

PS, I don't even know where we're going - we decided that he would choose the place (I'm doing the majority of the wedding planning, after all), and I won't find out until I get there. Right now all I know is it's not in the US, it's somewhere in the western hemisphere, and it's a very beautiful, relaxing, quiet, private place.

I've never traveled internationally (unless driving to Canada from Seattle to go clubbing counts), so I have... no advice for what you can afford in Europe.

I did, however, recently fly from CA to MA... It was horrible! I wouldn't want to take long flights on my honeymoon or have layovers at airports! Going through the security checkpoints while being barked at by TSA personnel and running between connection points screaming because your plane was delayed and you only have 20 minutes to make it across the Chicago International Airport before your connecting plane takes off are only marginally less fun than being crammed like sardines in a plane for 5+ hours on uncomfortable seats with contours in all the wrong places. Of course, everyone is different, and I know some people who LOVE traveling internationally. I just don't equate any of these stressors with love and romance.

I know people who have had really nice honeymoons on the cheap within the United States. FH and I are having a mini-honeymoon in Catalina, CA, which is just a few hours' drive away from our place. It's really beautiful and there are lots of fun beach-related activities to do there!
