My FH asks me what I want him to wear and I say "whatever you want." I don't care if he's not in a tux, I actually don't really even want him in a tux. He's thinking full suit and I'm thinking August heat, a jacket, really?

I'd love for him to wear a buttoned shirt with a vest or something, something kinda hip. It would suit him, our style, and our wedding.

Will or did any of your FHs/DHs wear a non-suit/non-tuxedo outfit on your wedding day?

Pictures??

Thanks!!

fh chose to wear a tux, since its the only time he will be able to! lol. I've seen great weddings were the guys wore khaki pants and nice shirts, khaki suits, navy suits, black suits, black pants and button down shirt and a nice vest. And I think the guys in tennis shoes with formal attire is cute unless the shoes are dirty.

Does he think he has to wear a suit, or does he actually want to? If he just thinks he has to, direct him to OBB, those grooms almost always look smokin' and are hardly ever in suits. Maybe something there will inspire him to stay true to his regular style?

whats OBB? Mike's other choice was a black strait jacket.......so a tux was better.lol

Our original plan was some nice, dark dark jeans, a white button down (not a traditional stiff one, but something in a laundered cotton with some embellishment on it, i.e. something from Affliction, Roar or Ed Hardy) and then we'd found a BEAUTIFUL casual, unstructured blazer from Roar that was black cotton with Celtic crosses embroidered on the upper arms, and a big scene with knights and such emboirdered on the back. It would've been very 'rocker' casual (and very "HIM.")

(however, since his Mom bought him a gorgeus black pinstriped suit last week, he'll wear that).

My FH us a 52" as well; He normally wears a XXL in t-shirts/casual shirts, but in that jacket he needed an XXXL. (the one I was talking about

We found it at Metro Park:

http://www.metroparkusa.com/

The jacket we were looking at IS in black (only) actually. I think it was just under $200 and it's beautiful in person. I'd shoot them an email and see if you can order it, or if you have a store near you, have them bring it in for you (the girl at the store by us was GREAT).

My FH is wearing a Suit He has had for a couple of Years. It'll need Dry Cleaning after a while sitting in the Wardrobe (Closet). It's Charcoal Grey with a very fine Pinstripe.
He's also got a Red Shirt which looks Great with My Red Dress.
A 100% Pure Silk Tie in Black with Red and Ivory Leaves / Flowers on.
And Black Shoes. Polished by Me. Because My Dad was in the Army He taught Me how to polish shoes properly LOL.

FH did think about a White Shirt and a Red Waist Coat. But decided against it when He realised He would never wear the Waist Coat again. And said it didn't justify the Budget.
So all We have paid out for is the Shirt and Tie. There's a chance to wear it all again at another function.

Does he think he has to wear a suit, or does he actually want to?

Ya know, I'm not sure. He'll look at things I show him, and then sometimes shows ME things, but then some other time he'll mention suit. I think it's just programmed in him but I'm honestly not sure that he really thinks he has to or that he dearly wants to. Or he's just keeping his options open.

I have to say I don't like him in a suit as much as in an argyle sweater with dark jeans and some funky sneakers :grinhappy: I mean this is a guy who owned a t-shirt company and well, wears argyle! Haha.

I mean, I'm wearing a pretty formal ballgown so I don't want him to look under-dressed, but I think the formal vest look without the jacket is hot.

Oh, and he actually found the "Offbeat Groom" section of that site on his own and said "should I wear this?"

Alright, so I am on gchat with FH (we're in different states during the week this whole summer), complaining about the weight of my dress--it is 8 pounds!-- and asked "well what are you wearing?" He said a suit, but not with a faux vest, a real one. So I guess that's it, he's going for a 3-piece suit. Ok.

My FH is wearing this coat:

He's been wanting it since he saw a promotional picture of Klaha wearing it. I'm ambivalent about it, but hey, if it makes him happy...

Fh is wearing a suit he already owns. We definitely aren't going formal enough to lead to a tux, but I would have been fine with something more casual than a suit too. Worked out well because all him groomsmen already own black suits so I just bought them themed ties. I'll have my ivory dress, and all the girls are wearing black dresses they already own as well.

UPDATE: We got it and it looked really bad on him, so he ended up going with a sport coat over suit pants with no tie, since he really hates ties and we could get away with it!

That's hot, I like it! I was kind of hoping my guys would choose something like that, but they discussed what they were going to wear among themselves, and they decided on jackets but no vests.

I hear ya. I was all over this look and figured FH would want something "alternative" but when I asked he said he wanted to wear a 3-piece suit :bbeek: Ok! He just got it (this one from Banana Republic (http://www.bananarepublic.com/browse/product.do?cid=5376&pid=582583), and because of the great deal I got on my dress, his wedding outfit cost twice as much as mine! Granted, he'll wear his again and again.) and it looks great! :grinhappy:

FH and GMs are going to wear grey pants. I don't know if they're going to do jackets, but the GMs ties will match the BMs accents and FH's tie will be grey. It only has to look good for the pictures and ceremony because FH has already told me once the pictures are done he's changing into his jeans and t-shirt.

Maybe a nice pair of black dress pants and a stylish button down shirt? It'll be more comfortable than a suit, and not completely dwarfed by the formality of your gown.

I really like this outfit. I'm not too fond of tuxes, and I want our wedding to be sort of elegant yet still casual, but not too causal.

I love the sweater. I don't know if FH can handle it. We're aiming for our date to be end of September, and I'm not sure if it would be cool enough to not die in a shirt, sweater and jacket. After the ceremony the jacket can come off, and he can still look nice.

Brian is wearing a black suit (that includes the shirt and vest) and a tie I haven't found yet, I want something with purple and/or silver in it. He wants the jacket/vest going on because he thinks it makes him look thinner.

And I thought brides carried all the vanity...LOL

Any thoughts on brown tuxes? My FH wore a suit for a long time to work every day, I would rather he wear something a little more relaxed, but he would like to wear a tux. To reduce the "stuffiness" of the tux, I thought brown would be good.

Anyone ever seen these in action, or have thoughts on them? Here's an image, baby blue is not my colors, I have decided colors yet...I have a couple ideas both of which would go well with brown...

ok now here's my problem...every one here is so good at finding things on the internet and I could use some help. My fiance is very tall and slender, so tailored rented tuxes wouldn't look as good as buying one. We're wondering if the cost is pretty close we might just buy the tux and make sure it was perfectly tailored (this is mostly his suggestion, since I have never rented a tux I'm really not an expert in this area so I will believe him)...Can anyone find a place where we can buy a chocolate brown tuxedo?

Any help will be amazing! Thanks!

Hello buddy,

I think you are right, wearing suit in the month of August wont be comfortable. Trousers and shirts for men are the most suitable dress code for summer season. He should try cotton shirt and pant for fresh and relax look.

He wears a suit everyday to work, so he wants to be a little more dressed up, which I understand. But in general we really aren't dressed up people. And I want people to be comfortable and from what I've heard tuxedos aren't the easiest things to relax in.

I tried to convince FI to wear a tan suit. I thought it would look nice. He refused. He wanted a tux. Then he considered an all white tux which the best man and I both quickly vetoed. So we are back to the black and white penguin suits.

tan slacks, white shirt, & tie. That's what he wants, that's what he gets to wear.
I figure he gets no say on my pretty dress I'll return the favor. Besides I know he'd never thing of like wearing pj pants or something... though it would be funny.

Well we're having a very modern wedding. FH says a tux is out! He's not dead neither are any of his GM! I understand that...I think its out dated but thats just my opinion. Him and the guys are going to wear nice slacks and cardigans. We live in Georgia and its hot all year round esp. in August! And he sweats alot...so I'm not even going to put my sweet heart through that!

My brother is getting married this September and they are all wearing jackets and cream dress shirts - but with jeans. I don't have any pics, but that's something alternative. It'll be an outdoor wedding, but pretty laid back.

this is exactly what i was thinking for my fiance. We are not really TUX ppl either. Our wedding is in May so it wont be as warm as August, but still i like the idea of a button down, nice pants, and maybe a vest also. :)
