I thought of a cheap way to save money on photography. Instead of putting cameras on the tables and risk getting pics u dont want or need Have a bridesmaid in charge of one disposable camera taking pics throughout the night. SHe has to use the whole camera. U would think they will be decent then. Just an idea I thought would be good.

That's a good idea. We're not having an "Professional" Photographer so we've bought Disposable Cameras (30 for $40 on eBay). But most of our Guests have Digi-Cams or swanky Mobile (Cell) Phones that take great Photos.
We decided to get them more for the Kids to have. FH has Four Daughters and they always fight over our Digi-Cam. They take great Photos. And manage to sneak up on people LOL.

Because we are not doing "Formal" we can look back on our photos and chuckle at the expressions on peoples faces when they are having a good time.

I've thought of doing this b/c we are stressign over the cost of a professional photographer right now. I mean we do want good pictures we can look back on an enjoy but I certainly don't want to spend more than half my wedding budget to do it.
I have an uncle that is a photographer and everyone keeps expecting us to ask him but I love him he's my Dad's brother & a good uncle but when it comes to photography he's a complete a$$, he did the pictures at my sisters wedding 7 years ago and they were good but by the time he got through with pictures everyone was in such a crabby mood.

That's another reason we decided against a Professional Photographer. When i got Married first time it seemed like Hours and Hours of Posing and Prancing around. And by the time it had finished i was exhausted. :bbeek: Plus the price they charge IMO doesn't warrant what you get at the end of it.

Back in 1992 it cost £900 (Approx $1,800) for 500 photos taken. But we could only keep 24 for the Album and any extra were £20 ($40) EACH on top of the £900. And that was 16 Years Ago!!!
The price of Photographers in the UK now equates to the price of a car!

See thats what I mean! I thought about just getting a friend that I knwo would be good with a digital to take some shots....hmmm my other uncle(on my mom's side my aunts husband) loves taking pictures! I wonder if I bought the memory card for him (should be around 500 pic's for $40(?) bucks) then we could take them to a kiosk ourselves and get them processed!!!
He has a really nice(high dollar) digital camera with all the bells and whistles.

That way we could get the shots we want without all the lolly gagging that normally goes along with it and then get back to the party. I'm sure he'll be snapping away anyway so I could just ask him if he'll let me see his pictures later and buy some photopaper and print them ourselves!!!

I asked one of my fellow photographer friends if he'd do it and he was willing but he thought he didn't have all the right equipment. I've been tempted to just pass around my cameras, one of which is a dSLR and see what people have come up with at the end of the night! This has the advantage that I have all the pics in MY hands at the end and don't have to wait for slacker guests to upload their photos for me ;)

Is this disposable camera = digital camera?
If not, how can we reproduce the pics it taken?

No they are not Digital.

You take the whole camera to the Processing Shop and they print the Photos off. Like you would take in a roll of film long before Digital Cameras were even though of.

I like that idea... I'm thinking about having a family member in the wedding party on each side of the family take pictures with their digital camera. And then all my friends all have a digital camera, so I'll get tons of friends pictures, also.

Hmm.... I prefer an ordinary camera then. :)

The reason disposable cameras are used is that way the couple buys them, sits them on the tables and let the guests take pics. Then the couple can have the pics immediately rather then waiting for someone with a regular camera to get their pics developed and give them to the couple.

It's a lot more convenient!

I'm trying to find some for a good price but no luck yet.

O I C. Very simple, and easy. Yes, a good alternative. Thanks.

No problem! You can even get ones that are decorated with wedding stuff too.

I love the disposable camera idea. It's one of the few things I'm definitely on board with. I love getting the perspective of each table - seeing the reception through their eyes, as opposed to only what I got to experience.

But as for the original post, I'm sure bridesmaids would be more than willing to capture significant events. I think you'll end up with a great selection of photos if you have the cameras strategically placed around. :)

How about you ask one of the guest thats not in the wedding party to take the pix by a decent digital for cheap and do it that way bc if you have a bm do there will be some great pix she will miss or she wont be in them and by her being in the party you might wont her in the pix.

Yes, good idea too. We can ask for it.
