Yep! That's what it's felt like this past month! I've had time to hang out with my husband, and just relax and visit with him. Guess what? I'm getting to know him all over again! I'm not spending every spare minute planning the wedding, or working on some project, so we've been able to spend time together and just hang out.

Not only am I LOVING married life, I'm LOVING my husband more and more every day! I used to have my doubts about our future together, but I believe that was because we didn't have any 'us' time, and everything was being put into the wedding. I'm noticing things about him every day that I didn't notice before, and it all just adds to his charm.

We're both still working the same jobs for the time being. We're also both starting school on August 25! I've got a promotion so I'm going to be transferring to another department in the same company, so we're both really excited about that. We are now looking into financing a car since my car took a dive on me the other day *fingers crossed*.

More updates later!!!

Yesterday Matt and I got our first car together. It's also my first new vehicle, and the newest vehicle I've ever owned (2001 Nissan Pathfinder). I love it!

Matt and I are very happy with it, and each other. We went camping last weekend together with some of his family and friends, and took his daughter with us. It was so much fun!

Welcome back Sarah and I can't wait to get some time on high speed so I can get back here on OW. I've been SOOOOO busy with my new position I haven't had a chance to do ANYTHING online :(

Alright time for an update!!

So I started my new job on Monday, and not only is it more intense, there is SO MUCH to learn! I work for a mechanics software company, and in my new position I am editing databases that are put into our software. I can't wait till I know it all and I can get back on track. I have 2 computers going full time right now, and am setting up a third probably tomorrow or Monday... so I'll have 3 workstations going at once :urgh:

On top of the new job, Matt and I start school this Monday. We're both doing online classes and aiming for our generals/associates' degree. I'm lookin forward to it, but it will be a LOT of work.

We almost got a Lhaso Apso last night - it landed on one of my coworker's front doorsteps and she wanted to find it a home before the neighbor Pitts got ahold of it. But we told her if she can find someone else who really wants it to give it to them - we don't need a dog now that we're starting school.

So I'm in the market for a kitten. I'm not a cat person - so as a joke, I tell everyone that it'll be "Sierra's Cat" once it is full grown LOL. I just think it'd be a change of pace, and at least you don't have to walk a cat and take it out for a potty run.

Off to bed... I haven't been to bed before 10pm in months.... so I'm thinkin about this weekend specially since we're starting school

Good luck with the work. I'm in the process of learning everything for work right now and I can't wait til I have the hang of it so I don't feel so silly. Good luck with school too.

Oooh a cat or a dog both sound fun! I hope that lost pup finds a good home.

Thanks Keely! Looks like we'll be picking up the little dog anyway - everyone's been flaking on the lady who has him and if we don't get him he'll be going to the pound. So, a little Lhaso Apso will be in my home by tonight - or that's the plan anyway. I never thought I'd see myself with a Lhaso LOL.

I can't believe it... we picked up the dog tonight. He's about 2 years old, I'm pretty sure he's purebred Lhaso, and he's well trained and groomed as well. It sure would be nice if we knew his name dangit! I wanted to look on here for ideas as for what to name him, but after debating between Jager (pronounced Yea-ger, for Jagermeister), Scooby, Shaggy, Camo, Happy, and Muffin, Matt suggested Biscuit. Well, it was a compromise for Muffin (he just lookes like a Muffin dog). So we compromised on calling him Biscuit. Who knows how long he'll last. After we got him home, I bathed him (he didn't really like it - specially since he doesn't really know us), and dried him off for the most part. He's got really tender feet, and his ears are a bit messed up. After me poking and prodding at him all night (getting stickers out of his coat and brushing him up), he finally got fed up with it and bit me. Well, he didn't draw blood lucky for him. And I understand he's sick of me pickin at him tonight. So we'll see how he does through the night. Here are a few pics of him! He looks so evil in the pics, when really he's kinda smiling!

(we got him a camo collar and leash anyway, it's so us!!)

Well, it looks like it's time for an update: I'm at work, our tools are down, so I'm trying to catch up as best as I can without having the ability to view photos :(

Biscuit is turning out to be quite a stinky pie. I gave him a bath 2 Saturdays ago and he STUNK soooo bad by the next day, and I even dried him! He's very intolerant and has bitten myself, my dad, and Sierra already. We found out he's in fact a Shi-Tzu, and I've read they have very short tempers. We still have him though - though I don't know why. He's pushed his limits that's for sure! But he sure is a riot! He gets Matt and I laughing even when it's hard to.

Matt and I are doing great in our relationship. We are both under almost the most stress in our lives right now, and we're getting through it together. We've been talking a lot, so that helps us to stick together rather than let our stress turn us against each other.

We've been house hunting, since the home we live in (owned by my mom) has been foreclosed on and we have no idea how much longer we have till they give us the boot. We have found it's cheaper to buy than to rent right now, and if we can find a home in our budget, then we'll buy. We've put in a few offers and have only heard back from one home. If it comes down to it and we don't have a home by the time we get the boot, we'll just rent and try our darndest to save some money to possibly buy next year.

My mom and I had a fallout exactly 2 weeks ago. She and I used to be best, I mean BEST friends. We would tell each other everything. Well, needless to say, this fallout is all because of the house. I was late on the rent, and her husband called me to bit** me out for not having the rent money. I felt soooo hurt... it seemed like she "sicked her dog on me". She and I haven't talked once since that day. We used to talk every day, several times a day. So, she emailed me last week (about a week into our silent treatment), and told me how she messed up by getting us into the house in the first place. So I emailed her back and told her how I felt. Exactly how I felt. And ended it with the facts that I love her and don't want this to be between us any longer than it has to - I also told her I know this will blow over. But right now, after 2 weeks - I'm not so sure. Matt and I sent her flowers yesterday telling her that we love her and that we miss her, and she responded with a curt thank-you email. She didn't even say "I love you" in her email.

Anyway, enough with the poor me rant.... I had to get that off my chest. I'm soooooo messed up by these past 2 weeks, and between the rift between me, my mom, and her husband; house hunting; and typical BS financial stress, it's getting to me.

Thank you two! Yesterday I saw her for the first time since our fallout. I saw her husband too. It was awsome to see them, and I'm soooooo glad we worked things out. I hate hate hate hate hate how evil money is! It seems to be the wedge in a lot of relationships.

We're doing well now. Matt and I got our offer accepted on a home we fell in love with. We are having a meeting with our lender on Monday :whoohoo: Keep your fingers crossed for us! I'll post pictures once escrow opens

It's an adorable home, built in 1900, 3 bedroom/1 bath with a possible 4th bedroom that's opened up like a den with a 4 foot wide doorway. It's on 1/3 of an acre (which is a LOT in the city), 2 car garage and plenty of room for our rigs!

I'm soooo glad mom and I cleared stuff up between us. I couldn't handle our silence for much longer.

Matt and I have a home in escrow right now. We're *supposed* to close before the end of the year, because the new laws take effect the first of the new year and they'll apply to us if we don't close before Jan 1. So, we're playing a waiting game right now - waiting on inspections and appraisals so that we will know for sure that we have our FHA loan approval.

Matt and I are doing great! I just found out today I am able to take off the day after Christmas, and the day after New Years!!! I won't get paid for the day after Christmas, but for Jan 2 I get paid. It's going to be just me and Sierra for the day - I'm soooo going to plan something fun for us to do! I'm the only one out of the 3 of us adults (myself, Matt and his mom) that could get the day off with pay. Since we'll have Sierra on New Year's Day, we'll have to have someone watch her on Friday the 2nd.... I'm excited. Her and I don't get much one on one time.

Sierra's developed some sort of asthmatic issues. She's been coughing and wheezing a lot lately. Her mom got her an inhaler that she hits every morning. It's been very cold here lately (well, the 40's during the day is COLD in Cali!), and she gets worse when it's cold. She's hangin in there though - she's a good sport!

Matt and I have been selling off stuff from our house to allow us a new start when we get into our home (tryin to be optimistic). I'm soooo trying not to get excited about the place, but it's so hard!

Last night I wrapped about 1/3 of our Christmas gifts. We still have about 5 to get, but I realized that starting my shopping in August was a great idea - I got more stuff for Sierra than I thought, and now her Christmas is going to be better than I thought. Totally made my day!

We're selling off some of our furniture - stuff we aren't going to use in our new house - and maybe even stuff we need but we want to replace eventually. I'd love love love to sell our couches and get a new set. We have HUMONGUS couches that both have a spring gone in the very center, so whenever I sit on the couch, I have to sit in the middle of it or else it hurts my back.

Tonight Matt and I are going to focus on getting all the gifts wrapped, our kitchen cleaned and hopefully get rid of a king size bed frame that's taking up our living room :urgh:

I'm trying to keep this updated with our progress.. maybe I should start a house journal

We heard back from the termite inspection today. I guess there's a very small section under one 1x4 around the window in the front of the house that has fungus growing on it (mold most likely). The bank says *so far* that they're going to allow that to pass inspection, but if the actual lending bank wants that repaired, it has to be done before we can close escrow (another $180 out of our pockets, even though we can fix it ourselves for $5).

So far so good... I'll keep ya'll updated how it goes. Friday we're supposed to be done with our inspections and stuff (as in, day after tomorrow), and we just barely got the termite inspection back. We still gotta get the appraisal done before we can get any finalities from the bank. *fingers crossed!*

So we got a phone call on Friday, informing us that Matt's credit score went down 60 points in 1 month. He got hit with something of his ex wife's and they won't remove it because they share the same last name and he lives in the address at which the offense happened. BS I say, but whatever.

So our cumulative credit score is 578, and we need a 580 in order to qualify for our home loan (yes, we have been approved by many places in the past month, they just ran our credit again for final checks and found the hits). I have strong credit according to our agent, so she's trying to get me financed on my own for our home. She's not too hopeful, but she's trying anyway.

So after packing about 1/3 of our stuff in our house, we might not even be moving for a couple more months, and this means we won't get the home we've been planning on.

I'm supposed to hear back today from our agent to see if I got approved, but I'm not really holding my breath. Kinda down about it all, but I just keep telling myself that God is in control, and if we don't get the house, there's a reason for it. Maybe there's a better one out there - and not to mention the market is STILL going down. So we might find something better at a lesser price. Who knows.

I hope the housing situation works out for you!

FFC
12-18-2008, 09:43 AM
Well, I believe God has other plans for us. Today we are sending in our Cancellation of Contract so that we can receive our deposit back. After the credit issue, we found out that I can get financed on my own for the house, but that's only if we're dishonest about getting our loan. Technically, I have to claim Matt's child support as "my" debt. If he were to lose his job, I'd be stuck paying it, and that's all that the bank cares about. So, that's a $750/month debt that worked against me getting financed on my own. I could have been financed if we didn't tell them about the child support, but if they were to find out somehow in the long run, we could get in trouble and who knows where that would have led.

So, besides that, we ran out of time. There was no way we could get the appraisal and underwriter's signature by 5pm today, especially since it wouldn't have made it to the underwriter until at the earliest - tomorrow morning.

God has other plans for us. While we may not like his decision on this, we know that our friends and family have been praying for us to make the right decision. We agreed that 3 strikes and we're out. First the mold issue on the window frame - we found a way around that. Then Matt couldn't get financed - we found a way around that. Then being the honest person that I am, I didn't have a clear conscience about lying to the bank to get our loan - could have found our way around that. But running out of time? That was the straw that broke the camel's back....

So we're disputing some of the marks on Matt's credit and hopefully by February we'll be able to buy - together.

FFC

On the brighter side of things! I'm sooo excited for Christmas. And I'm relieved about the house to an extent. We would have had to save every spare dime to come up with the rest of our downpayment, and now that we're waiting, we can save for another month and have a little bit of a cushion for when we finally do buy...

God has a plan, and I gotta keep telling myself that. We'll find the perfect house and everything will go smoothly. It's all a matter of time.

We'll see how that goes

Close enough. We drive out there every weekend that we have Sierra. My family is closer to Antioch than I am, but it's about triple the cost of living in the bay area than it is here in Sacramento. You're right, the cost of living here is pretty bad compared to most of the other states in the U.S.... what can I say, I'm stuck here so there's no use stressing over it. I'm glad I'm stuck here because I found the man of my dreams and if having him means I deal with high costs of living, I'm happy to do so

Alrighty, so we didn't get the house. We've been searching little by little for another house. We even drove by one yesterday without our realtor because we didn't want to bug him if the house was too run down anyway. So it was moldy.

I'm still very interested in one of the homes we put an offer on in November, we just haven't heard back yet. Still keeping my fingers crossed, and in the meantime seeing what new is going on the market.

Matt and I have finals this week. We both switched our majors!!! I wasn't too excited about going into Health Admin, but I figured it was a secure field. He wasn't excited about going into Business Admin because he's just not that type of guy. So, we both switched to Criminal Justice! I'm psyched... He is sooo interested in being an FBI agent, and I'm interested in learning more about, and maybe joining the CBI (California Bureau Investigation). The opportunities are endless, and most of it is something that he and I will enjoy.

Anyway, I'm waiting on Sierra to get here so that I can hang out with her till Matt gets off work. Just thought I'd throw in an update!

Update! Matt and I have been working like mad with our realtor. We've put in about 20 offers, and looked at like 50 homes in the past month or so. As of yesterday morning we still had 4 offers pending and we were preparing to go out and look at more homes after work yesterday.

Well, I called my agent and he said "did you get my email?", no, I had not. So he told me our offer had been accepted on Matt's favorite home! So we headed over to his office (around the block from our work) and he showed us the bank's counter offer - which was REDICULOUS. I gotta admit though, we're very happy that they've agreed to all of our terms, they also added in their own terms and used some open ended sentences that even our realtor didn't understand. So we counter'd their counter and now we're waiting again to hear back.

Now, the home! The MAIN thing I love about this home, is it's on Olmstead drive. Matt's family name on his mom's side is Olmstead and maybe I'm a bit coocoo but I feel that this is a good sign.

The house is a 3/2 with brand new tile floors in the living room/hall way, HUGE lot that is perfect for our hobbies (trucks, gardening, and our realtor said he'd give us his jaccuzzi to put back there if we wanted it :whoohoo: ). Matt and I are both trying not to get excited, but it's inevitable. ALL those offers we've put in and we finally got one accepted. Phew!

I'll give ya'll an update soon's I hear from our realtor on our counter offer. *fingers crossed*

Here's the home (let me know if the pic doesn't work), and yes in the second pic, that whole side yard is ours (one of the best parts) :

The kitchen needs help - who can cook in that? Soooo we have plans in our head that I will share after the close of escrow :ooh:. The back yard looks like it had at one time been set up for a wedding

Talked to my Realtor today. He said that someone put in an offer over the weekend, but we're still first on the list. My counter offer was submitted to the bank today, as in, now I KNOW it's on their desk somewhere. So we sit and wait for them to respond. I hate waiting.

We got a 'verbal agreement' from the bank, but our realtor said don't get our hopes up just yet that a verbal agreement isn't anything reliable. So we're still waiting. He's pretty confident that we'll hear back in writing either today or tomorrow!

We signed the bank's counter offer yesterday. Now we sit and wait again for them to sign their half so that we can start inspections and appraisal :whoohoo:

I fell at work yesterday and hurt my arm and my rear. My arm hurt the worst for a few hours, but now whenever I walk my left side of my lower back and upper rear hurts. (I fell on my right side). On top of that I have poison oak which is spreading up my arms and I'm hoping to isolate it to my arms. GRRNESSSS.... I'm trying to stay positive but I'm so physically miserable!

I heard from our Realtor today. He said that we're waiting on the bank to sign the papers (duh) but that the listing agent determines it'll take about a week to get a stinkin signature :irked: So now we get to wait around for a week and hope that they get back to us sooner than that.

My realtor sent me an email today and told us that another bank is considering one of our offers on another home. This other home needs a bit of work - carpet, paint - at the LEAST. It's got a little dry rot, and the kitchen could use a new floor, and eventually new complete kitchen. I told him to see if he can stall the bank for us - they wanted to know exactly how much money we wanted for section 1 repairs (to qualify for FHA) and I told him to go with $2k. We didn't tell them to take a hike yet. We HAVE to know we're getting the home we're going into escrow on before we can burn any other bridges.

Meanwhile, we still sit and wait for a stinkin signautre from the stinkin bank's attorneys on their counter offer that we signed.

Sierra came out today for the weekend. After work we went to Lowes (because it's closer to home than Home Depot) and Sierra picked out the paint for her bedroom!! We even designed how she wants the walls and she got her colors and she picked her carpet.

I'm psyched, and I can't wait to get her room done - cuz that means we can focus on OUR room. Matt and I picked the color for our room today, and we're still unsure what we want to do for carpet. I promised Matt when we moved in together that he could pick the colors for our room once we had a chance to design our own bedroom. So, he picks Raiders colors - black/silver/white. I LOVE IT. So we picked out a nice gray for the walls, and we've decided the design we want to do. I am going to play around with paint and post the pics of our ideas

Here's the VERY rough draft of Sierra's room:

We are goin to dip our fingertips in the colored paints and flick the color on the white top half of the wall... and leave the bottom half solid blue. Sierra's color choices, my idea and she happened to like my idea *phew!*

I started a house thread here (http://forums.onewed.com/showthread.php?t=24140).

So last night Matt and I didn't have any homework - rarely do on Mondays and never do on Saturdays. We didn't have any other obligations either - first time in AGES. So you know what we did? I treated him to dinner on our way home :irked: way not healthy btw LOL. But we sat around all evening and played Wii and PS2 together, then finished off the night watching Chuck. It was SO MUCH FUN just hanging out with him - we haven't done it in so long that I forgot what it is to laugh with him. He makes me laugh so hard and last night was so refreshing to just hang out with him.

Time to update:

Same ol same ol hurry up and wait game. Matt and I are doing great together - stressed and busy busy but at least we're handling it okay. We've been living without water for ten days - waiting on escrow to close on our new house. The title company is taking its sweet time and we're 2 weeks late for escrow.

Anyway, finals are this week - I have one more left and then it's freedom until Monday when new class starts.

Sierra's in softball again, so we don't get to see near as much of her as we'd like... but we're enjoying the time we do have with her.

FFC

This weekend we had finals. This was a true test on our relationship for Matt and I. We were both stressing because we haven't heard the status on our escrow, we had to go to Sierra's game on Saturday which was an hour away (when we should have been doing homework), and we ended up apart the whole weekend because I finished my finals and he had to use the same computer to do his finals. When he was free to do stuff, I was doing homework, when I was free to do stuff, I was kickin his butt back into the office to do his homework. :urgh:

*sigh* we're almost there.

3 weeks and we go on a cruise. GOSH I hope we're in our house by then I'd hate to be the one to stay behind and move, but I will if it comes down to it.

We were JUST on that cruise! Like got home 7 days ago!!! AWESOME fun...tiny pool :) What cabin????

Oh I have so many hints for you....

Try to carry on your luggage-WAY easier....we got there around 2 and we walked right on!
You can bring non-alcoholic drinks...water...red bull..soda, etc
You are both allowed 1 bottle of wine
You can sneak on hard alcohol, just use soda bottles :)
Drinks were WAY stronger in the casino bar then anywhere else on the boat.
Air Hockey in the game ROOM! ROCKS
I have heard that the blow hole tour was COOL....
Don't stress about fancy night, there were people dressed up all over the place and some not
They take pics all over the place, I bought a few and then took pics of the other ones, pics average 20 bucks a pop.
They have 9 holes of putt putt golf, you check out the clubs on the pool deck.
Ensenada-take the van $2 there and only $1 on the way back (if you don't take an excursion)
BINGO was a rip off, but play if you wish. I would play in the slot machine tournament, it was all old people and the only young person one...quicker hangs :)
The adult comic was FUNNY...show were all good :) I am not into hypnotism, so we passed on that.
Try to get Late night dining 8:15...way better!
If you order wine at dinner, you can only drink half and ask them to save it for you for the next night.
The last night they have mad sales in the stores
The first night they had free shots by the stores because they were trying to sell vodka etc.
Oh and if you want off of the boat early, tell them you have an early flight...

Have SOOOO much fun and eat ice cream and pizza 24-7
PS Room service late night took FOREVER!

hmmm.. time for an update.

We have found a great home for Biscuit, after a bad experience with a not so good home. The lady drove 150 miles to come and pick him up last night. We had to let him go because of his aggression towards kids, and our new house has stickers so bad - he was just miserable.

We are getting a puppy on the 31st. She is border/mini aussie/beagle, and she's freekin adorable. Sierra is PSYCHED! She picked out a name we all finally agreed on - Miley Crawler (yes, a middle name for the dog  ) She's going to be around forever... or that's the plan anyway.

Matt and I are doing great. We are trying to hold off on TTC, but we're to the point if it happens then YAY, if it doesn't, we can start TTC on purpose in September.

We're both still in school. After a big scare yesterday (our classes just ended... no call no nothin from the school), we figured out that the school should have contacted us about the fact that we have to pick the next 8 general ed classes. So, we picked our classes and we're already rescheduled for the next block.

We're going camping this weekend. I can't wait! I"m going to get tons of pics to share with you gals :whoohoo:

I wanna go camping!!! That sounds like so much fun! Eat a s'more for me!

It is going to be a blast! It's our annual trip to NV to my favorite wheelin spot. I've offered to do all the cooking for our group which has grown to 8 people. We did all the grocery shopping on Monday, I just set the steaks and chicken to marinade yesterday, and today I am cooking mac salad and boiling some eggs for lunches. My dad is making potato salad and bringing a few bottles of wine.

My friend who's going with us went shopping with me. We actually made a menu before going and stuck to the menu - aside from the box of wine we purchased to split on Saturday :)

So we have food for 4 days (Thurs thru Monday). Dinners consist of Steak, Chicken, Burgers and dogs with mac and potato salad on the sides. Lunch consists of hoagies and bean and cheese burritos with mac and potato salad on the sides (yes, lots of mac and tater salad LOL!), and breakfasts are going to be from scratch - my 'famous' trail breakfast burritos. One of my favorite parts of camping is the cooking. I love it - especially when we're feeding a group.

Not to mention 120 bottles of water, a case of gatorade, and about 100 sodas. There are no water sources out there for about 20 miles, so we might be making a lake run on Saturday evening. We have to pack in water if we wanna wash up or anything.

It's going to be rough - but SO much fun. I'm planning on finally bringing my truck home too (it's been at my friend's house in Reno). WOHOOO!!!! My baby's been gone for a year and a month and I finally get to bring'er home. :whoohoo: :whoohoo:

Oooohhh I have plans!!! Since I'm going to tell you, I've gotta get Matt's word he'll stay off OW until September!

I emailed him a list of like 10 bands (country, rock, etc) and asked him what his favorite 3 were. He said Nickelback, No Doubt, and Papa Roach. Surprised me!!!

So I found concert tickets to see Nickelback, Papa Roach, Hinder, and Saving Abel - all FOUR of them in concert at once for $75 for the good seats!!! I couldn't believe it. So I told him our anniversary is going to cost us $150ish, he might have to pitch in, and he doesn't get to know what it is until our anniversary :)

I'm so psyched. I've been saving... 5% of my paycheck automatically goes to savings... so that's about $40 a check... and I racked up $180, and got the tickets for $188. Okay, so I paid $30 extra just because of online fees. But that's okay... the concert is almost sold out, and I got decent seats. WOOHOO!!

Now, I just have to figure out a way to break them to him without just walking up to him and GIVING them to him LOL! I have to have patience, and I don't think that's going to happen. I'll be surprised if I make it through today without showing them to him. :) :) :) :whoohoo:

Yes, the year has totally flown!!!

And I broke down and gave them to him. I felt bad because I was enjoying the excitement myself, and he wasn't able to look forward to it because I hadn't told him. I wanted to share the excitement with him. So, I gave him the tickets in his Father's Day Card that I gave him a week too late LOL.

He's EXCITED. He's been listening to Nickelback constantly now :)

Well, we tried the 'anniversary cake'. It was the actual top of our wedding cake - brownie with peanut butter creme filling and marzapan icing... and the flowers for the topper (real daisies) were STILL IN IT! LOL So I waited for it to thaw, took out the wilted daisies, and sliced into it. It was YUMMY!!! Still moist and really rich...

We even shared some with Sierra :)

You know what's amazing? The cake was only half wrapped in seran wrap, then placed into a plastic bag on a divided plate - so there was air under it and all around it in the freezer for a year. I can't believe it held its moisture cuz it wasn't even sealed. Never got freezer burnt or anything.

I never thought to re-seal it for the year store, and mom and MIL were so busy getting everything else out of the barn they didn't even think to freezer proof it!

Well, Matt and I are TTC (as a lot of you know from the TTC section). So far it's a no go.

I talked to my sister, and she's quite convinced we have at least 8 more months till we're successful because I was on the pill for so long :irked: Let's hope she's wrong.

Anyway, nothing new going on for us. We're more than halfway to our associates' degree, which is a huge relief. Matt will most likely stop with that, but I'm hoping to go ahead and get my bachelors. Who knows - it's all a matter of time and money we don't have.

I'm on the fence as to whether to open a daycare or not. I want to because it'll be good support for us when we do get pregnant and have a baby, but it just seems a very risky move. I'm in a secure job where I'm at, but we couldn't even begin to afford daycare right now (hence, the reason I'd open a daycare).

So, I'm sorta rambling - getting my thoughts out. He doesn't know I'm doubting my abilities at a day care. I know I could be good at it, but our neighborhood sucks - so I'm not sure it's a smart move. In God's time, we'll be preggers (the sooner the better I'll say!) but I know if we got preggers right now it'd be high time to make some serious decisions.

I'm stuck at a dead end job right now. The only way I can advance here is to pass 5 ASE tests (Automotive Service Excellence). Well, I've failed my first two, and have signed up for 3 more. If I fail them and want to re-take them, it costs me $70 per test :irked: so I'm trying to avoid that. It doesn't help that yearly reviews are coming up and I'm going to get about a $0.29 raise (I know, every little bit helps, but come on.... $0.29?) :irked: It's kinda insulting I'll say.

Sierra's sick, and about to come to our house for the weekend. Her mom hasn't taken her to the doctor and she's been sick for a week. I'm concerned (after the scare with MIL) that it could be swine flu, but Matt says because she doesn't have a headache it's not - even though they haven't talked to a doctor yet.

I'm just not ready to get sick - and I'm going to I just know it.

I'm grumpy today... his ex isn't going to be here till 4 tomorrow, and we get off at 2:30. We have to wait around for her lazy butt to get here because she's too selfish to come all the way to our house - so I have to wait around work for her to get here. IRKING. I wish I could tell her how I feel about THAT!

Matt and I are doing really good though... even though his ex gets between us quite often - we get through it and have good days when her name isn't even mentioned.

*blah blah* I could go on- but I'll spare all ya'll.... I had to clear my head.

On a brighter note - we're going to do some manual labor for his aunt and uncle on Saturday (well, I am, not sure about him. I don't wanna take Sierra if she's sick). But I get to use a chainsaw and a wood splitter - OH YA! That's a good way to get my bad mood out :)

Aww Justina I totally feel you about the daycare thing! Daycares out here cost anywhere from 800-1400 per month, and with the chance of twins I'm pretty scared about having to make some serious changes. But there is no way I can stay home. Hopefully in another year or two I am making close to what Jon is and I can't afford to take a year or two off and then start over. But as they always say you'll find a way and I'm sure you and Matt will find a way to make it work too,

09-17-2009, 11:12 AM
Thanks Danielle. You're right, around here I'd be looking at about $200/wk at LEAST especially with a baby.

However, I have some friends who would utilize my services if I opened it up, but that's just 2 kids.... plus my own. I'm not really bringing in money that way lol.

Plus, I gotta consider insurance and toys/etc costs.

Is there a way you could live off one income and get a part-time job a couple of nights a week and on the weekend?

I wish! The only way for that to work is if Matt quit and played SAHD. We make the same hourly, but half of his check automatically goes to his ex. So we'd have to live off My income and give up the Pathfinder - which is impossible cuz we're upside down in it. OH and if I open a daycare, I'd get an SUV and have the business pay for it (tax writeoff)... so it's all a matter of juggling stuff around at the right time etc. I could get rid of the pathfinder and get the SUV but it's all a matter of timing.

Even if we could afford a daycare for our child (that I'm not even pregnant with LOL!), I don't want to send my kid to daycare unless it's someone I know - and I don't know anyone who runs a daycare.

Sorry to hear you're feeling so grumps today, Justina!

About the 8 mos to conceive due to BC, don't worry! I was on the pill for 7 years and off the pill for 6 mos before PG. You may find yourself surprised one of these days!

About the daycare/job situation, I say take it a day at a time. We just took a major leap into our business and it's so scary all the time seeing all our savings go down and not having a turn on profit yet, but we had to do it or else we, too, would just be stuck in dead end jobs. You'll never know unless you try!!!

Haley, that's encouraging. As of October, I'll have been off the pill 6 months :fingerscrossed: :D

I wouldn't stress so much about the day care if we had savings - but right now, I have $4 in my savings account and Matt doesn't have any. So.... I guess like you said.. one day at a time. I'm hoping that Matt can get job placement when he does get his associates'.

I'm sorry you are down in the dumps Justina. Its really sucky when a person's income mostly goes towards daycare! I have thought of possibly doing daycare, but I can't really afford to leave this job since it gives us free full health coverage, including dental & optical. But I guess we'll see when the time comes. We are hoping family will babysit for us and they probably will with our first one but I don't think they will want to be permanent daycare for 3 kids (or however many we end up having).

You guys will figure out how to make it work somehow though! :yesnod:

I can relate to the 8 month thing. It could take me up to a year (or more) to get pregnant because of the shot and its just so frustrating because I want a baby NOW. DH and people just tell me it'll happen when it's meant to, but that doesn't make it any easier, or make me any more patient. I want to be a mother and there's nothing I can do at this point other than wait for my cycles to return to normal. I HATE IT. And its only been 2 months of waiting so far.

I hope that neither of us have to wait too much longer. :crossfingers:

Well, I haven't 'stuck with it' long enough to lose any weight. Matt and I are both pretty uncomfortable with our weight and both want to do better. We're talking about getting bikes but I already got his Christmas gift so I gotta find us some bikes after Christmas.

We have been doing okay... I have been stressing over Christmas pretty bad, so that's put a dampener on my spirits. I gotta decorate and I think it'll help me feel better.

Matt and I are struggling. I mean, our marriage is fine, but our communication is suffering. We're working on ourselves and in turn, our grades have suffered, but so far it's been worth it.

We're both done with school in July. I was thinking about going on and getting my bachelors but so far I'm not sure if I'm going to do that. I may stop when he does with my associates' degree. *dunno*

We don't know what we're going to do as far as work goes when we do get our degrees... he knows what he wants to do it's just a matter of getting into it cuz it's a state job and the state is not hiring really - or is not hiring in his position.

Anyway - we have each other and that's the important part! Happy Holidays ya'll!

Now I just have to talk FH into it.But that won't be hard.I'll just take the baby with us to "just look"at them. Then she'll fall in love with them. And when she bat's her little eyes and pouts at him he'll give in.

Funny story:

I want a cat. I want one that is a mouser so that I can stop wasting money on mouse traps that Miley keeps eating the food off of.

So I asked Sierra (in front of Matt) to ask her daddy for a kitty

She was working on her Christmas list at the time and said "I'll just add it to my Christmas list". Then Matt looks at me and says "thanks a lot". Then Sierra and I laid it on him big time - Sierra gave him her puppy dog eyes and practically begged him and I kept encouraging her. Matt's freaking out because we teamed up against him and we were all laughing about it.

I'm pretty sure we'll end up with a cat sometime soon

Matt told me later on that he's "gonna get me back" some how

Well, Christmas was busy, but amazing! We spent Christmas Eve at my family's house about 80 miles away and got home around 11pm. I had the BEST Christmas gift EVER. My uncle from Oklahoma showed up and surprised the whole family. I cried my eyes out when I saw him. I couldn't let go of him when I gave him a hug - LOL. I guess I never realized how much I missed him. Sad thing is his wife was stuck at the Oklahoma airport due to a storm from 2:00am Christmas Eve until yesterday (Saturday), and she's finally here now.

Christmas day we had Matt's mom and brother over for gifts. Sierra was spoiled rotten as usual and it was soooo fun watching her reaction over some of her gifts! Matt and I got her an iTouch and she flipped. I video'd it, but I missed the good part - where she came and gave us hugs and wouldn't let go cuz she was soooo excited :)

After our gifts we headed to Matt's uncle's house for Christmas dinner. We had to leave here at 11:30am and we still got there late (around 1pm). But it was a fantastic time. We played Balderdash (our new favorite game) and Catch Phrase (I think that's what it's called). Dinner was the works and the fellowship was awesome!

We got home around 12:30am on Christmas night.

Friday morning we headed out to my mom's house 110 miles away. We got there around 3pm because we got a late start and she told me when we got there that we were moving Christmas to her neighbor's house. I wasn't too happy about this, but it ended up being an AWESOME time! Mom had to go home early because the boy she had from the group home went crazy on us and she couldn't keep him at her house, so all of us 'kids' stayed at her cabin while she took the boy back to the ranch. She returned this morning and we played some more Balderdash, Apples to Apples, and Taboo.

Mom got Sierra a Cricut - I can't wait to use it! I'm sooo going to make some wall decals! WOOT WOOT!

We got Sierra a kitten for Christmas. Her name was Mischievious (Missy for short) and Sierra changed her name to Coco, after my cousin .

Oh I love all your pictures!! I am soooooooo jealous of Sierra's kitten!! I was hoping for one for Christmas, but with two cats already DH said no way! You'll have to keep updated pictures for me. :)

The kitty has turned out to be perfect. I wanted a cat, not a kitten. But both Matt and Sierra outvoted me on this one lol. So mom found us a kitten for free and we have to get her spayed and get her her shots. Miley feels threatened by Coco, so she hasn't been too nice to her, so we're having to be very careful with her. She knows to be nice, but I think she's scared of the kitty. She looks terrified when we hold the kitty next to her. Poor thing!

I'm going to make some wall decals with Sierra's Cricut to go with the sign BIL got me. I just gotta learn how to use it and I gotta get some rolls of sticker vinyl.

Me with the blankey my mom got for me (no, she didn't make it LOL) It's perfect size for work - my cube is done in turtles!

Yep it worked for sure!! And Matt wouldn't settle for a cat, he wanted us to get a kitten if anything

Cooking Mama - we figured it out but it took us a few hours. It's kinda complicated. We even got the utensils but the only way I can see those being helpful are with the frying pan. Weird. :lafhard:

Your new kitty is so cute!! I want a kitty!

I love that turtle blanket. That's what I need, a blankey at work!! I don't know that I'm comfortable enough to bring a blankey to work though. I have been here almost 2 years and I haven't even done really anything to make my desk mine. I guess because people go through my drawers when I'm sitting right here and people use my desk when I'm gone...it just doesn't feel like it is my space.

Thanks - she's a doll for sure!

Wow - I wouldn't be okay with other people using my desk if it is in fact assigned to me and me only. I have my desk very personalized with photos, nick nacks, and my coffee cups etc. I freeze at work so I either wear a jacket or use a blanket. I think that one is just perfect for my cube theme though :)

It is a really adorable blankey. The fabric is so cute. :)

The main electrician used to sit at my desk in the front room for the past 10 or so years. They never had a secretary and when they hired me, they moved him to another area. But he still digs through my desk as if it is his and the other electricians sometimes eat at it if I'm not there or will use the internet. Maybe I should put some maxi pads & tampons in the drawers - I bet he wouldn't dig through them anymore!!!

I do use a space heater under my desk though. I would freeze to death without it!

Wow

We're not allowed space heaters - we had a fire a few years back before I came here and since then they've said they're not allowed - and neither are heated blankets :(

So we all bundle up and deal with it.
