Happy Day after Easter Ladies!!!

I hope all of you had a nice one, I know that I did!!

Anyway, I know this was discussed in a prev post, but I can't find it. Can anyone tell me at what point you are supposed to register for wedding gifts?? I didn't want to at first, but we have fam that aren't able to come out for the wedding, and want to know where we will be registering at.

I think I have read around the 4 month mark you are supposed to register. My family has already been asking me as well. Justin's grandma said she wants to know first because she wants to get us stuff before all the good stuff is gone she says. LOL. I think I am going to register around August or so. I think I am having a shower in October so that would leave plenty of time I think.

I think we registered five months before the wedding! We wanted people to be able to purchase things from the registry for my shower as well!!

As far as including where you are registered, etiquette says no you shouldn't. It should be word of mouth but now adays people do what they want! (like we did and we included it in our invitation!!)

I plan to register in time for the showers and I will put the info in my shower invites...just not the wedding invites.

A lot of brides are starting "wedding websites" (and you have one!) and most of those have a spot for gift registry. I think you can have a card in the invitaion with your website address on it.

I think we started out registry at 7 months before because my family was bugging me to do it. They wanted to start buying stuff asap and they figured they could use it for my birthday too. We are going to go back next month and updated/finish it up. We still haven't picked out dishes or glasses yet.

I was planning on putting the wesbite on the info when our save the date cards go out. Then I guess if people are interested, they can look at the site and see that. I didn't really like the idea of saying 'hey, buy me this', but since so many are asking for that, I guess it's a good idea.

Thanks Cindy!!

Yeah the website and the info in the Save The Dates is a good idea, but it isn't 'proper' to put anything in the invites about the registry.

This is another plus for having a wedding website, you can put a little card about the website in with the invites and people will see the registry there ;)

We started our registry about 7 months before the wedding as well. We've had some of our family members use it to buy us birthday and christmas gifts which kinda bothers me. But.... oh well. When we started to register they lady suggested we wait until closer the the season of our wedding for things like linens and towels because stuff can be discontinued. Make sure you check it occasionally as well because i have had a couple things be discontinued.
Also... Make a list of the things you need/want. I've found that i sometimes forget what i really need to ask for because we don't have it.
Have fun!

I have already started looking at which stores I want to register at. I have picked out some dishes already, but I am going to wait and make sure they still have them at the store when it is time to register. Right now it is looking like I want to register at Kohl's, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Wal-Mart.
