On a similar note, have ya'll seen those little microwaveable cakes and desserts? You mix like a few tablespoons of water with the cake mix, then drizzle a flavor packet (caramel, raspberry, etc...) over it and nuke it for a minute. Holy crud, they're SO good.

They also have SMALLER portions that are like 100-150 calories -- they're only a few bites, but they're just enough to give you a *fix* without totally derailing your diet (if you're watching your intake, that is).

I have seen those little cakes at the store and been meaning to try one.

I may have to try the quick cake in the microwave too :)

That sounds very tasty! Those microwaveable ones they sell in stores are absolutely amazing. I like the chocolate chip cookie one the best. Mmmm.

Speaking of something you don't normally microwave, and I don't mean to steal the thread, has anyone ever microwaved eggs instead of scrambling them on the stove? DH did that sometime last week and it totally weirded me out. He was shocked that I'd never seen/heard of it before!

I was grocery shopping with my daugther and I put some strawberries in the cart. My daughter says - "You HAVE to get some sour cream and brown sugar to go with the strawberries". I couldn't imagine what she wanted to do with the three things but I bought all.

When we got home we washed the strawberries, dipped them one by one in sour cream and then into the brown sugar. OMG it tastes just like strawberry cheesecake! It's so good!!!

Get the chococate raspberry one. HOLY cow. FH sneered at it when I bought it, but then I let him taste mine and he was drooling... it's very lush -- definitely don't need much to satisfy the craving.

I had never heard of microwaving eggs until last year... my fiance said that's how he would make scrambled eggs, and I laughed at him. But it does work quite well, and they come out very tasty.

Me too! I use a small round container to cook the egg and it fits perfectly on an English muffin.

That looks so good and I could totally veganize this recipe, but I don't have a microwave! :snide: I wonder if I could make it work in the oven. ??? Times like this not having a microwave is a bummer!

Oooh yeah my friend just posted this on my Facebook wall one night recently when I said I wanted cake. Haven't tried it though as I had just sold my microwave.

3 tablespoons of oil seems like a LOT for this tiny thing. I bet you could get away with 1 ...

I have microwaved eggs before ... Keely, I am sure this would work in the oven too, it would just take longer to cook ;)

I am gonna make a little cake this weekend, I don't have all the stuff now.

I just reading the reviews for this cake and somebody put this - "cup cake" and I cracked up like an idiot. That's just so very, very funny to me!

Yeah, a 1:1 oil milk ratio is kinda crazy. :ooh:

It wasn't too bad. I made some substitutions. Perhaps without the substitutions it's even better. I used regular flour instead of cake flour. I only used 1 T. of oil and I used chocolate syrup instead of cocoa. It came out very dense. And it's a HUGE portion. One suggestion for anyone who is planning on trying it - mix it in a separate bowl and then pour the batter into the mug. I didn't quite get all the flour mixed in when making it in the mug - which of course I didn't find out until after I "baked" it and dumped it in a bowl. And I was very careful to try to get all the ingredients on the bottom of the mug mixed in. Definitely a good recipe if you're craving chocolate cake late at night.

OK, so I finally got around to making this little cake today. I think I over cooked it a little, but it still turned out pretty good. I put some butter cream icing on it too *yum*

Ohhh my...those are three of my favorite things. Sour cream? check. Brown sugar? check. Strawberries? check. Totally weird combination that sounds ew, but tastes great? check. Sounds totally like me.

So since I over cooked the other one I decided to make it again ... I altered the recipe some this time ;)

I added a little chocolate syrup and some strawberry syrup, and used a bit of Amaretto instead of vanilla ... it was really yummy, with icing of course ;)

So here is my recipe ...

4 tablespoons cake flour (I used self rising flour)
4 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa (I used hot chocolate mix *hehe*)
Drizzle of chocolate syrup
Drizzle of strawberry syrup
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons oil
Dash of Amaretto
1 coffee mug (I used a plastic mini loaf pan)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly.

Bake in microwave on high for 3 minutes.
