Ok so I'm still not sure if FH & I will be doing a honeymoon right after the wedding due to lack of funds after paying for the wedding but I was thinking that maybe we could start a separate savings set up for the honeymoon.
Anyways I got thinking tonight have neither of us has been to Ontario and I was thinking that Niagara Falls might be a nice place to go if we can afford it.
Just wondering if anyone else has gone there for a honeymoon or for another vacation???
I was there a LONG time ago. It was nice from what I remember, but it was very touristy with alot of Wax Museums and Ripley's Believe it or Not type of stuff. The falls were really nice though!
I really liked Toronto, that is a nice town! Lots to do and see.

I've been to Niagara Falls and while the falls are beautiful I wasn't too impressed with the town itself (in Ontario). Touristy but also just kinda...blah...I dunno. I wouldn't honeymoon there, I don't get why it's historically been such a hot destination for that. Now I don't know about the NY side. Though if you drive just a bit farther to Niagara on the Lake you get some cute towns right off Lake Ontario and lots of wine! We went up there for wine tasting and it's great if you're into that.

We have been although not for our honeymoon. It is rather "touristy" but as you can imagine, the falls are gorgeous.
If you want to get away from the touristy stuff, you might stay in St Catherines (http://www.stcatharines.ca/tourism/about.asp). It's a very pretty little town which isn't all that far from the falls.
Here is their tourism site - http://www.tourismstcatharines.com/
Whether you’re looking for family fun, festivals & events, romantic retreats, golf, arts and culture or wine country getaways, you will find it in Niagara, sure to suit you!

We honeymooned near Picton, in Prince Edward County, Ontario and we stayed in the stone cottage at the Waringhouse Inn (http://www.waringhouse.com/). We explored, we visited wineries, went to the beach, visited more wineries LOL, went antiquing and even took in a drive in movie (LOL and here I thought they had done away with all of the drive in theatres!). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it in a heartbeat. The area feels very much like PEI!

Thank! The only time FH & I have gotten a vacation was like 3 years ago and PEI is where we went....we had an amazing time...he had never been...
I imagine that it is rather touristy but really I think even though it's our honeymoon, I think we'd be ok with that as neither of us has hardly been outside our own Province and who knows when we'd have the chance to return.
When we went to PEI we did the wax museum and Ripley's and all the different attractions there and we loved it. Plus it looks like there are some nice golf courses there which would make FH super happy! LOL
Anyways it was just a thought, I came across a picture of a hotelroom looking out on the Falls and thought that was rather beautiful.
Thanks for your opinions.

I'll let you know how it goes!! :D
Also.. Falls room's are obnoxious prices.. $200/$300... What we did is stay at the Days inn near by. Its walking distance to EVERYTHING, and you can hear the falls, just not see them. :D And its only $120 a night for a jacuzzi room!

Leave up to those Canadians to boast and brag about their falls...LOL.
Actually have heard it's a really romantic place. I'd say go for it.
Just make sure you have all the proper paper work for crossing the border, back into the states, otherwise you may have to move in with SerendipityCrafts.

Leave it up to some American clergy to jump to conclusions. :) f77g4 lives in New Brunswisk (aka Canada baby!) and so, she doesn't need any paperwork because she'll only be crossing provincial borders. :)

It will be required for land crossings soon enough. Even so, I have heard of some people who have run into trouble crossing without a passport.
Which reminds me ... I need to renew my passport. Just in case :)

I went with my family to Niagara Falls a couple of years ago. We arrived at night time and it was a great time to first experience the falls ~ not as many tourist and you heard and felt the falls without the need of seeing them, pretty powerful actually.
I thought the falls were lovely and yes, though it is touristy, it can be romantic. There are tours going behind the falls, etc. I guess it's what you want to make out of it. I'm glad that I went and if you haven't been there before, I'd say go for it!

Not for land no ... not until June 09 but some people I know have still been hassled. They say they don't do racial profiling but some of these people were middle eastern while others were just hassled by an over zealous border guard. LOL
Since it took some Canadians up to 6 months to get their passports, I just figure I should renew asap.

e went in May of this year and had a blast. It was cheaper on the American side than the Canadian side for rooms. We also drove an hour and a half to toronto and went up in the worlds tallest building. We had a great time. Maid of the mist rocks!!

And you can also walk across easily to the Canadian side to do all their stuff. :D Theres more to do over there! The New York side was pretty run down. :(
