we may be having our reception in a hotel that provides equipment we can use for a sideshow. My only problem is that i am a picture nut so i have a million favorites and i'm horrible about picking and choosing. For those of you who are making slideshows or already have yours done, how did you decide what pictures to use? Did you go from baby pics to pics of you together or just pics throughout your dating period? I just can't decide

I think the best way to limit yourself is to make strict rules. Pick a theme and stick with it. For example, I recently did a slideshow for my grandparents' anniversary and I very strictly used only pictures with at least one of them in it. This ruled out all the "grandchildren" photos that didn't feature them and that sort of thing. You could, for example, choose one favorite per event(or 2, 3, etc, just be consistent) that you have photos of.

I'm not doing a slideshow for us because we have about 6 pictures of us together not counting our engagement session. It would be really boring/short.

I am collecting pictures now to do a slide show. At our reception we have a large flat screen that they are going to be karaokeing on.

I am going to do first baby pictures then pictures of us on different trips like a few of just me and a few of just him then us together. Basically pics of fun things we have done.

I had one song for growing up pics of me, one song for growing up pics of him, one song for "us" pictures, and a fourth song for our funny pics of us, friends and family. All of the songs were upbeat except for the "us" pictures, it was Howie Day's "Collide" which I guess isn't too slow... Hope that helps you!

What programs are you guys using for the slideshow?

I have previously used on different occasions Ulead DVDFactory, Ulead VideoStudio, iMovie, and a looped playlist from iTunes and iPhoto.

Yeah I was going to use power point too, much easier. I've done video editing before and that just takes too much time.

I used powerpoint as well. My slideshow had 55 slides altogether. There are definitely some pictures that I wish could have been in there, but think about it: It will be a very short part of your day. Yes, it's cute, and people like it, but that is NOT what they'll be thinking about later... they'll be remembering the cake in your face, your first dance, the CEREMONY... so don't obsess about which pictures go in there.

And if you don't have some of your favorites in there, don't worry about it... nobody will know that some of your favorites are missing... they'll love the pictures all the same!

Good luck! :)

I have a question, for the pictures that you had from growing up did you just scan them into a computer/disk? Where did you do that?any other hints? I am making one but we have a lot of pictures( Been together for a total of 8 years.) any other ideas would be great. We are hoping to make a DVD and bring a lg tv to play it on.

I just scanned them with my own scanner. If you don't have one, check to see if you have a friend with one or you can go to a photo center and do it there for some sort of fee.
