It's a French word meaning "little bundle" now days it is just hte clothes and special items you buy to take on your honeymoon.

I have a "trousseau" .. It's a french word. The trousseau is for the girls. The parents give linen (towels, serveittes, napkins, bed cover ...) to their girl, and when she get married, she has already what she needs ... Every year, since I was 10 years old, I have become one thing from my grandparents. I'm now 23 years old, and I don't need to buy anything .. (it's not fashion but it's OK ! )

It's not for honeymoon, but for the married life! It's more practical ... (In France) .. Perhaps it has now an other meaning in the USA ..

I have never heard of one before. I saw it on my timeline as well, and couldn't figure it out. Glad I know...

Yeah I heard it was sort of like a dowry ... I also read referece to it just being the brides outfit, like the wedding dress or similar clothing.

What it sound slike annececile is describing is what we call a hope chest. I got mine for my 16th birthday. And every holiday my mom would make sure I had somethign to put in it. Like on Easter instead of a basket I would have a big salad bowl fill with my easter stuff. I still have and use that bowl to this day. And on Valentines day I got from my mom and sunday glass filled with candy. And each birthday I would get atleast oen thing to put in my hope chest. Like towels, salad bolws, glasses, etc. As for the word trousseau I have no clue what it is lol.
