Man, the pollen here has been out in full force these last couple of weeks and it is really getting to me :bbconfused:
I went to the park the other day and now my car is orange. It was red before I went out Now every time I go in the garage I sneeze. I guess I need to wash it but then it will just get covered with pollen again.
I just feel awful :bbsad: I use to take Claritin but these days that doesn't even help much ... The other day I took one of the 24hr Claritin tabs and an hour or so later I still felt miserable so I took some Tylenol allergy and that helped but makes me sleepy. I have tried just about every OTC thing and the only ones that work make me sleepy
Last year I went to the Dr about this and she said take Claritin and gave me a nasal spray ... well the Clariton doesn't seem to work as well anymore and the nasal spray just makes me sneeze more
I love Spring weather but OMG these allergies are killin' me
Anyone else have allergies in the Spring? Is there something OTC that you take that helps?

I get spring allergies also. They haven't been toooo bad (knock on wood) yet. I've taken sinutab for them....
Hopefully they will get better for you. If not go back to the Dr. sounds like they are affecting your ability to do every day things alot.

I know how you feel Brandi. I hate when all the pollen starts getting stirred up. Claritin and Alavert help me, but maybe if you've been taking Claritin for a while your body has worked up an immunity to it. I know some of my friends have tried Sudafed, Benadryl, and Tavist-D (I think is what it's called).

Yeah I took some Benadryl today and it didn't help. I just looked at the Claritin bottle and noticed it was expired :bbconfused: I wonder if maybe that is why it doesn't work anymore?
I am trying to hold out for another hour or so (from the last time I took the Benadryl) and take some Tylenol severe allergy, that stuff seems to help the best.
It does bother me alot (mostly early in the day and late at night) and sometimes I just don't want to do anything. This usually only lasts about a month in early spring then I am ok ... I just hope I can hold out that long :bbneutral:

I have allergies to Canola (or sometimes also known as "rape"...that yellow flower growing in farmers fields.)

Anyhow, it is in bloom mid July! Thats when we got married, luckily I stayed on top of things and didn't get my full blown allergies (thank god!!) but **** Brandi, I know exactly how you feel! I cough and sneeze and its horriable!! One person asked me if I had tuberculosis or something from teh way I was coughing. I said no, just allergies!! lol

According to www.pollen.com the predominant allergens in my area are: Oak, Birch and Sweetgum ... apparently I am allergic to that. And it has been out in very high amounts lately :bbconfused: :bbneutral: :frown:

When I lived in Texas, I had INSANE allergies! Around here, everything is just starting to come out, so I guess I still have to find out how I'm going to react after the onslaught of the last couple of years!
I feel for you though Brandi! I took claritin for my allergies too, but it dried me out so bad I had nosebleeds and had to stop taking it. I can't take Tylenol or most of the other OTC medicines because, in order to counteract the drowsiness, they have caffiene in them, and I can't have caffiene because it makes me really sick. So I had to suffer through some really AWFUL allergies without any help.
Have you tried a vinegar steam to help your nasal passages? It smells awful but it works really well. Also, eat lots of fruits, especially citrus fruits. The boost in your immune system will help your body be able to block the histamines. You also might want to look into starting a daily multivitamin to lessen the effects in the long run. Just some tips that my doctor gave me.
Good luck and I hope you feel better! Just don't die on us! :)

My allergies are horrible too. The only thing that helps is Benadryl but it makes me so sleepy I can't take it and then go to work. So either I am a zombie at work or I am sneezing my head off and look like I have been crying all day. Ellie has really bad allergies too. It would get to the point that you had to bath her almost daily to get the pollen off of her and only keep her outside long enough to do her business. She would scratch so much that she would have big bald spots. We did everything. The vet eventually put her on allergy shots for a couple years now she doesn't have any problems at all that a bath every couple weeks and a Benadryl here and there doesnt' clean up. Maybe talk about the allergy shots with your doctor.

Well I got some more Claritin since I noticed the other day that the bottle I was taking was expired ... well it still didn't help, 3 hrs later I still felt like :censored: So I went ahead and took the Tylenol severe allergy.
We have a whole bunch of OTC allergy stuff but the Tylenol stuff is the only one that seems to work. But, you are not suppose to take it for more than 7-10 days.
Well, I made an appointment to see the Dr again on Monday so we will see what she says ... I hope she doesn't say shots, I don't like shots :(
