Our colors are black and white. All the guys want to wear all black, black shirts, ties etc. I told FH he has to wear a white tie and vest. He said "huh?" I said he has to be different from the groomsmen.

so what is it? Does the groom have a different color tie and vest?

I think it's whatever you prefer. I've seen it done both ways. If he wants to have the same outfit, maybe he can have a different color flower on his boutineer to distinguish him from his groosmen.

Yes They ideally should . Our colors are hard they are black white, and a teal that is so hard to match exatly that its driving me NUTS!!! Alfred Angelo Calls it Tealness, And the CLOSEST color to a tux I can find is Mens Warehouse's Oasis Color. Even Davids Bridal doesnt have a color that matches exactly. UGH... So our Groomsman Are wearing black suits, Oasis Vests and Ties, and Danny (FH) is going to wear Silver Vest and Silver Tie (called Platinum)

Our colors are black and white and we thought about going with a Teal because it's my favorite color but we didn't/haven't for that very reason. I said it was going to be too hard to match the same shade of teal for everything. So I think we will stick with the black and white. We haven't went to look at tuxs yet.

We're doing black and white as well, but when FH tried on a white vest and tie, he didn't like it at all. So I think we are doing a black vest and a striped tie for him, and a black test and solid black tie for the groomsmen.

You mean like matching it to the dresses and such? I think it's totally okay if it doesn't match perfectly. If you aren't holding the fabric right up to the shirts or candles or whatever other teal stuff you are using, you won't notice it's not identical. No one will notice or care. Just my 2 cents. Also, everyone at the wedding will certainly know who the groom is regardless of how much you distinguish him so do whatever you two like in terms of his attire :grinhappy:

Personally, to avoid any matching stress I think I'm going more for an overall color palette with shades of color rather than exact colors. Like Stacy and Clinton say "it doesn't match, it goes"

DH wore a white vest and tie, and his GM wore pink vests and ties. I'm sure it's not a "rule", but it's pretty common for the FH to wear something different.

I know there aren't rules for anything but I would like him to be different than the groomsmen. Would the color of the tie be enough, or do you think it should be tie and vest?
