As ya'll know, we eloped to Gatlinburg, TN on May 24th. Since it was just the two of us and the Preachers, we decided to have a Picnic Reception on July 19th for our friends and family. We wanted a simple party where people come come comfortable, have good food, and a good time, so we decided on a picnic theme. We chose to have the picnic in a local park and rented two of the covered Arbors. Here is a picture of the venue:

We decorated the tables with white plastic, and since I didn't want to worry about centerpieces blowing off, we bought cute wall stickers at Dollar Tree to add some color. Mack also came up with the idea to draw hearts and write silly sayings on the table covers too and they turned out great! We had to use duck tape to keep them from blowing off the tables, but we found purple duck tape at Walmart so it looked good!

We used the Angus burgers and the all beef hot dogs that you can buy from Sam's Club and our wonderful friends Mark and Gina (who is also a OW bride - markandgina080808) volunteered to cook for us! We couldn't have done it without them!! Huge Kudos to the Cooks!!

Everyone loved the food and seemed to have a great time! We had about 83 people, but everything went really smooth!

Of course you can't have a wedding reception without cake, so here are ours!

Groom's Cake

I made this one! It was German Chocolate- made of 7 cake mixes, the icing was made of 7 lbs of powdered sugar, a whole can of shortening, a whole can of cocoa powder, butter flavoring and vanilla. The filling was 2 cans of coconut pecan frosting. It was huge and heavy, but turned out great!

And our wedding cake:

A yummy Italian Cream Cake that my Mom had made for us. I just loved the pawprints on the sides and how cute the cake topper was on the cake!

It was a fun day and turned out great! I think everyone enjoyed being able to wear shorts and let the kids run crazy. Since we had lots of kids coming, I stocked up on bubbles so they had something to do. We also covered the kids tables with brown kraft paper and put out lots of crayons for them to color with! Of course they were more interested in feeding the ducks and geese all the hot dog buns!

It was a really fun time, and was the perfect party to celebrate you two! Mark and I had a blast and I haven't heard of anyone getting sick from our cooking yet. Tee hee.

Looks like FUN! I'm sure everyone had a blast and how great of Gina (and Mark, of course!) for handling the cooking! The cakes look delicious! I'm especially biased on the paw prints, though. ;)

I can't wait to see more pictures!
