In addition to the aforementioned chocolate discovery (which I talk about on a different thread) while at Michael's today I also saw that they are having their annual sale and there's a TON on clearance for $1, also 50% off and spools of fancy ribbon -- 3 to 5 yards per spool, maybe more -- in all colors and styles and sizes, for $1 A SPOOL. That's right, folks. Not a dollar a yard, but a dollar a SPOOL. 16 yards of fancy ribbon (half of which is metallic, the other half satin) for $4. A steal.
No, really. This kind of stuff at a fabric store, when it's not on sale, easily goes for $2.49 or $2.29 a yard, and in the case of my plaid metallic, $5/yard. Today, it was TWELVE CENTS A YARD (approximately). Go ye and get your ribbon!!!!
I snapped up 4 spools that will decorate my card basket (not box!) and a simple black weekly planner so that I can organize all my wedding to-do stuff and not forget anything. If I'd had more money (it being the end of the month!) I would also have bought a couple of their half-off picture frames and one of those 'sign-the-frame' picture frame things.
Their fake flowers were still expensive and actually cost more per flower (by quite a bit!) than buying fresh flowers online via a wholesaler. Good to know.
The candy stuff wasn't on sale, unfortunately, but I'll bet it will be right around Valentine's Day!
They also had a decent-looking cake cutting set for $20, and a couple fancier sets.
I was hoping that they would have a nice wide arch, but they didn't. They only had a really narrow one.
The Michael's near me is a big store and I was surprised by their wedding section, because it was really big. They had DIY veil kits, crystals and pearls for sticking in a bouquet, DIY invitations, all kinds of flower stuff, bolts of tulle, and more.
I was impressed by their sale. If only I had more money!!!
