In addition to the aforementioned chocolate discovery (which I talk about on a different thread) while at Michael's today I also saw that they are having their annual sale and there's a TON on clearance for $1, also 50% off and spools of fancy ribbon -- 3 to 5 yards per spool, maybe more -- in all colors and styles and sizes, for $1 A SPOOL. That's right, folks. Not a dollar a yard, but a dollar a SPOOL. 16 yards of fancy ribbon (half of which is metallic, the other half satin) for $4. A steal.

No, really. This kind of stuff at a fabric store, when it's not on sale, easily goes for $2.49 or $2.29 a yard, and in the case of my plaid metallic, $5/yard. Today, it was TWELVE CENTS A YARD (approximately). Go ye and get your ribbon!!!!

I snapped up 4 spools that will decorate my card basket (not box!) and a simple black weekly planner so that I can organize all my wedding to-do stuff and not forget anything. If I'd had more money (it being the end of the month!) I would also have bought a couple of their half-off picture frames and one of those 'sign-the-frame' picture frame things.

Their fake flowers were still expensive and actually cost more per flower (by quite a bit!) than buying fresh flowers online via a wholesaler. Good to know.

The candy stuff wasn't on sale, unfortunately, but I'll bet it will be right around Valentine's Day!

They also had a decent-looking cake cutting set for $20, and a couple fancier sets.

I was hoping that they would have a nice wide arch, but they didn't. They only had a really narrow one.

The Michael's near me is a big store and I was surprised by their wedding section, because it was really big. They had DIY veil kits, crystals and pearls for sticking in a bouquet, DIY invitations, all kinds of flower stuff, bolts of tulle, and more.

I was impressed by their sale. If only I had more money!!!

Cool, thanks for posting about it! I'll have to check it out. I plan to include ribbon somewhere in the centerpieces... haven't quite decided where, but I might as well get some while it's cheap.

AHHH NOOOO!!!! I am trying to save money and I was just at Joann's yesterday to get scrapbooking stuff (30% off!). Thanks Whitewater...now I have to go to Michaels and spend money I don't have because it is just too tempting at those prices! As I tell FH...my shopping addiction is helping the economy :D!!!

Now how come my thread about flip flops at JoAnns got buried in great finds, where hardly anyone will see it and this thread is still in bride chat? :(

Hehehe. Thanks Whitewater, I still need to pick up a few last minute things.

Oh that arch, if it's the same one I bought (comes in a blue box), that sucker is huge! It looks small in the picture and I know the box says 8 feet tall, but man I didn't realize how big it was till we but it together. We're actually taking out the bottome legs because it's really tall. For wideness, it's about 5 feet wide, It's at home right now and all I can remeber is it's as wide as my area rug, so I can get you a better measurement tonight.

I went tonight, and didn't see the ribbon :(. I saw a whole row of ribbon, but there were none of the fun clearance or sale signs in that aisle. However, I had lots of fun walking around the store and discovering things I didn't know they had (I've only ever been in there about 4 times).

I got 2 big jar candles for $2.50 each... then, when I got home, realized that I could have bought those to put in the bridesmaid totes... and by the time I can go back there, they probably won't be on sale anymore. Oh well. Then I also got some Disney Princess crayons and markers for my fiance's neice, whose birthday is in September. They were $1 each, and I got the last package of markers, :).

Even though I didn't get anything for the wedding, it was a very fun trip!
