Hi, I have been reading over other journal's for the last month and while I have gotten some awesome ideas, I wanted to start my own. I only have 54 days left, but there is no time like the present to get started. I have almost everything, but the food done. My parents are taking care of that thank god, cause I cannot cook to save my life. My fiance's name is Roger. He is an older man, with two older children, both over 18. His daughter, Kayla, is 22 (as of 7/24/08) with three children, and his son Jacob just turned 18 on March 30, 2008. Kayla adores more, while Jacob is not my biggest fan, but I am making attempts to bond with him. This will be Roger's third marriage, while this will be my first and hopefully only.
Well I hope once I get home tonight I get back on and post some pics of my progress thus far.

When I met Roger I was not looking. I was out with my friend Tiff for dinner and drinks at the casino, and we were walking around lookin for some slot machines, and all of a sudden, these three guys start hollaring at us to come by. Well it was Roger, his cousin Josh, and their friend Paul (Pedro). Well Roger asked me to dance at the Cabaret lounge (next to the bar that we were standing by) and we danced to "Mathilda", and it has been love ever since.

This is where we met on March 10, 2006. I wanted to have our wedding next year on March 14, 2009, to mark our 3rd anniverary... but this past March my maw maw (grandmother) died, so I didn't wanna mark her death with a wedding.. just seems rude to me

I have since had it shortened and tightened in the top. I am only 4'11'', so I hope no one was expecting to see a long legged chick...haha. I am not having a big wedding, just a small one with mainly the reception as the highlight, with just my MOH and my brother as the best man. Hey, I'm a cajun....we don't worry about the serious stuff, we just worry about the partying and good times .... laissez les bon temps rouler... let the good times roll...
so back to the subject.. i tried on all the big puffy dresses and i just am not woman enough i guess.... i couldn't walk with that, so i found this one and was in love.... plus it was less than 500.... that helped the shopping tri[ that followed that day.. haha

Just got off the phone with the DJ, she is sooo nice. My bro was right that they were real nice people. They are going to play my wedding for only the costs of lodging at the Paragon (where I met my Roger). And with my Players Card, I will get the room for nearly only $70/night. $140 is not bad for a five hour DJ. They are from Kinder, LA, and good friends with my brother, so they are playing for just lodging so they can kind of get a mini-vacation out of it , plus have a weekend to see all their friends here.
Ms. Brenda (My step-mom) gave me her menu today... AWESOME. We will have two briskets, two hams, some funny named shrimp thing, meatballs and sausage, potato salad, dirty rice, chicken salad sandwiches (my favorite), roast beef sandwiches, cakes, YELLOW punch (in my honor), and lots of other goodies for appetizers and such..
Casey (SIL), me, and MOH got on the cell (via speakerphone for me and Casey) and had a sort of conference call over the bachelorette party. Thanks to vistaprint, i ordered my MOH a shirt today, and some magnets for my girls at the bachelorette party. we are gonna get a cabin at the Paragon, have a fun party, drinks, and appetizers, then go in the Paragon and party and gamble, and a few of us will stay the night, but i bringing some surprise breakfast stuff and cooking them breakfast the next morning and have a "ladies brunch" with leftover appetizers and breakfast before we check out, sort of a lil "thank you" for the fun party and gambling.
PS- all that freaking out i did over the veil... it came with a comb... thank god i reorganized the extra bedroom today, since amy (SIL/wedding planner) is coming thursday with my step-mom to check out the hall, or i would have been tripping out over the comb thing more and more.

my cake topper came in monday. this is my gift from roger for our wedding. it costs like $75 bucks, but i would have paid 50 bucks in a cakeshop anyway, plus this is totally custom, and is a reflection of us and our lifestyle. like i told everyone else who called me redneck... well this is who i am, so take it or leave it. and i pressed for this cake topper sooo much because the froo froo fancy one is not me, plus if i can't keep the cake for the rest of my life, atleast i can keep this in my curio cabinet. the lady told me if i keep it in my curio cabinet, it should last a lifetime... what a knick knack to pass onto our child one day..haha

my SIL, amy, met me today and we looked at the hall. my step mom couldn't make it, but amy was able to figure out where she wants everything. we are having the wedding and the reception all in one (which is common for the south), so she debated with DJ area for a while, but she realized what she wanted. turns out the veil doesn't look that bad, so i guess i will keep it. tonight i am going to fold invitations, cause i have to send them out by august 10, and it will take me that long to get the 100 addresses, well 99, cause i am keeping one invitation for my shadow box for the wedding, which i got on clearance at hobby lobby for $7, regulry $48. it has a few scratches which show the real wood on it, but i am gonna sand it anyway and make it look worn for our bedroom, which has those old timey finishes in it.
i cannot wait for 9-13-08... it will be sooo nice to go back to my regular life of coming in from work, take a shower, fix something quick to eat (cause roger is usually never home at night), watching law and order and going to bed...
my SIL approved my centerpieces today, so i am going to assemble the remaining 19 (20 tables in all). since that pic, i have added a raffia bow onit, a bunch of artificial mini berries as a charm on the raffia, and yellow, white and green beads inthe spanish moss (yeah that cajun country touch..lol).... and the second pic is the finished product.

i didn't wanna go with the normal go grab a collage frame at the store, stick pics in it and BAM you're done. i wanted something creative. plus all the pics i used were duplicates from my scanner and glossy paper i made copies of. and i glued them with rubber cement, cause it makes the photo or documnet like a sticker when peeled off. that way when i get the old lady come up to me and say "awww my baby, do you mind if i take that picture of this or that", then i can tell them yes they can have it, and it won't rip or look tht bad once the old ladies take their pic..lol

i finally have the invitations stuffed, but not sealed. my step mom is gonna take care of side's family and friends, that way i don't have to worry about it. my MOH came over this afternoon and we ordered the bachelorette party invites from vista print... they are soooo cute.. it will only give the guests 2-3 weeks notice, but most of them know by word of mouth at this point anyway, but even if they don't show up---oh well.
i am sooo excited for the wedding. i talked to the DJ tonight, she has alll but one of the songs i want, and that is because it is a local cajun band, but she will get it when she comes down on august 20.
i have been going into work early everyday this week, cause a lady i work with, ms charlene, is sick with these hives things, and because she has had breast cancer, there are certain meds she cannot take to control the hives, so i go i early just incase they are really bad for her and she can't be there. she is roger's dad's cousin down the line, and a wonderful person, so i would do anything she askd of me..
