Well, I decided to start my own wedding journal just to try to keep myself up to date and the others that want to read about the wedding planning. :)

A little background on me is I'm just a country girl from Kentucky and been here all my life. I'm 20 years old and going to be a junior in college in August. I'm majoring in child and family studies w/ an emphasis on family studies. I'm a huge sports fan. I love Basketball, baseball, bowling, and NASCAR. I'm also a huge Mustang fan.

My FH is 20 years old and also going to be a junior in college in August. He's majoring in accounting. He's lived here his whole life as well. He's big into motorcycles and loves going to his bowling league every Thursday night. He likes going golfing when he can also.

We met in high school. We were both sophomores. I had to change my schedule to get into another class and it happened to be the class that he was in. I came into the class before anyone was there and sat down at the front. I noticed a guy walking my way and he sat beside me. And that's where everything started. He started talking to me the next couple of weeks and we just became friends. We also shared a couple of more classes that same semester. He asked me about every day for 5 months...I finally gave in...cause he was bugging me haha. I never looked back after that either lol. It's been 4 years and 6 months that we have been dating now and I love him more than ever.

How he proposed: It was my 20th birthday on November 6th, 2007, and unfortunately a day I had classes. Sometimes Anthony would meet me in the parking lot and drive me to class, and today was one of those days. We parked beside my class and we were waiting until I had to get out. Out of nowhere he looked at me, grabbed my hands, told me he loved me, and asked me to marry him. I told him to shut up because he was lying. He laughed and said he wasn't. I began to tear up and I kept telling him to stop because he wasn't being serious. Finally, I believed him and hugged him and cried. He had the ring in his hand and told he I never told him an answer. I laughed and said "yes!" He put the ring on my finger and I cried some more. Needless to say...class was very uneventful that morning and it was very hard for me to concentrate.

The wedding will be at the church I've gone to my whole life with the preacher that I've known my whole life. We've decided on blue and yellow for the colors. We haven't exactly decided what color of blue and yellow yet.

Here's the church and the reception hall for my wedding:

I didn't get a picture of the whole church myself, but the website had a picture of the whole thing.

Here's the front of the church...sorry about my car and the other one...I took this when I was an intern last summer.

So, I'm planning a sports themed reception and I can't wait. I'm looking and thinking about lots of ideas right now. One thing I was thinking about yesterday was getting a sports jersey and on the back putting Mr. & Mrs. Newland and 09 for the year of the wedding and having the guests sign that. I'm going all out for this reception ha. My ceremony will be very traditional so it'll be fun to branch out of my usual traditional self.

I want to incorporate many sports theme into the reception.
NASCAR, Basketball, baseball, golf, bowling, fishing...we'll see how this goes.

I did find a garter set that I am seriously thinking about getting. I'm a HUGE Jeff Gordon fan and I wanted something to show that. It even has the colors of the wedding.

I bought the Jeff Gordon garter set. I'm so happy. :D haha.

I've been searching for ideas for the wedding about all day and saved some to the computer to keep up with them. The idea of the wedding is finally starting to come together in my head. Thank God.

I went last Saturday wedding dress shopping.
I didn't find "the one" but I tried on 2 that were cute.
I'm so analytical about everything and I can't ever make decisions.
That's why I hate this whole wedding dress shopping right now.
We plan to go to a place here in town this Saturday to see if they have anything.
If not..I'll probably look at having a custom made dress.
Which is probably for the best since I am 4'8" and 95 lbs.
Trying on the only size that the store has available, which is a 12, is just ridiculus.

I'm looking for a dress that is similar to this:
http://a716.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/102/l_331d75a67d67f676b561a2c8074f45c3.jpg

Or this one:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v448/kylovinCA/dress-1.jpg

I love the cap sleeve and off-the-shoulder look.

In other news: I'm still waiting on my garter set to get here...I'm so excited about getting it. :D

Thanks Danielle. I've always loved that look. :)

The wedding is just consuming my life.
I think about it 24/7. It's a little frustrating.
I'm hoping when school starts back in August that I'll actually be able to concentrate on my classes.

In other news, we are closing on our trailer Tuesday.
We finally have a place to live, Amen!
I'm so excited to be able to make it our own. :D

We closed on our trailer yesterday!!

And to our surprise, this morning FH got a call that they are bringing it to our property today!

Oh my gosh, I am SO excited!

I can't wait to start painting and such.

We already got some color samples picked out and it'll be so much fun to be able to make it the way we want it.

This Saturday, I'm probably going wedding dress shopping w/ my mom and aunt. I'm getting very stressed out about the whole wedding dress situation. Hopefully this weekend I'll find "the one."

I've noticed I haven't posted any pics of the FH and myself...in case anyone cares I'll post a couple.

Well, today I took my mom, aunt, grandma, sister, and brother-in-law to mine and my FH's trailer to see it for the first time. That was fun...I took pics to show another aunt who is out of town until tomorrow. I may post those later on...FH and I have so much to do before I move in next June. We are way excited about our place though! :)

I also went wedding dress shopping w/ the family today. I tried on SO many dresses. I thought I'd post some pics. This is going to take a few posts.

Beware of all the weird faces...I did not pose for most of these.

Number 6 is my favorite as well!!! I love all the detail on the dress!!!!

june0609
08-11-2008, 08:08 AM
That is my favorite one too, girls.
My heart is set on it.
As soon as I saw myself in the mirror in that dress I said, "Wow!"
I'm about 99.9% that's the one.
The only problem is the $806 dollar price tag. It's $300 more than what my mom wanted to spend. I don't have a job right now and she told me when I get money I owe her $300. That's fine...but I'd love to find the dress somewhere else for a little less money. :bbcry:

But I'm about to go to the FH's and my house to paint ALL the rooms...Hopefully we'll get the two bedrooms done and maybe a bathroom, we'll see how that goes. :)

Well after many days of thinking if the dress I wanted was "the one" and worth so much money, I've came to the conclusion it is! I loved it. My aunt even said she'd give me some money to help pay back my mom some of the $300.

Here the dress is on the model:

Thanks girls. :D

Yesterday I went with my sister/matron of honor to Hobby Lobby to look at flowers for a mock bouquet. My sister is making all the flowers for me and the bridesmaids so we wanted to go out and see what all we liked. We put together one in the store and loved it. I'm wanting an all rose bouquet. I'll be using yellow and blue roses. But we also found a really pretty way/different way to honor my father at the ceremony. He passed away in Jan. 2003 and I wanted to honor him in some way. In the middle of the bouquet will be a single red rose in memory of him. I think it also looked really pretty with the yellow and blue roses. I think it'll look even better when using real roses. I'm pretty excited about the bouquet now. I wish I had pictures but we both forgot to bring our camera in to the store.

I just got done reading through all of your posts, and I'm now totally invested! Not only are we getting married the same month, but you also have the same car that my fiance has!! (he's in love with mustangs too - right now he has a silver 2002). AND I'm SO glad you picked the dress you did - it was the perfect one for you out of the ones you tried on. And I also have to say that I'm stealing your garter idea (those are so cute!) and putting a mustang on mine :-P I think he'll love me for it :)

Good luck with everything else!

I haven't posted pics of mine and my FH's place yet. It's a mobile home but it's kinda nice. It's nice for a first place. We are in the process of paiting EVERY room. We have both bathrooms left and 1 more coat on the hallways/kitchen/living room. I'll try and get pics when we get all the rooms painted. Meanwhile...I'll post some pics of our place.

So I made my appointment for my TB skin test today. I have to have it for my Interaction and Guidance class. It'll be at 10:15 am Friday. I'll have to miss my computer class to go get it. But hopefully when I go to that class in a little while I can ask him if it'll be excused. I'm kinda scared...I really hate needles! Anybody have it done before?

I know it had nothing to do w/ my wedding but it's my journal so I decide what goes in it. :D ha.

This is where I can help you. I'm a nurse and have given and received this TB skin test before. They use a little needle that they usually use for insulin in diabetics. On the inside part of you forearm they insert the needle just below the skin. They inject about 1mL of this solution just below the skin which makes it look like a bubble. The test is read 3 days later based on what that bubble looks like and size. Usually the bubble goes away. If the bubble doesnt' go away it just means you need to get tested again. It doesn't nessarly mean you TB. You might here people refer it to as a Mantoux test. It feels like a little bee sting. I'm sure you will do fine. I hope this helps. Good luck!!!

Yesterday was 9 months away from my wedding.
Time is flying by since I got engaged...it's crazy.

On Friday, FH and I picked up 36 boxes of hardwood flooring for our place. I'm so glad to be getting rid of the UGLY carpet thats in there now. We're both starting to finally move stuff in there a little bit. It's finally starting to hit me. I started the second coat of paint Friday too on the living rooms walls/hallways. Hopefully it'll be done in the next couple of weeks...whenever we can both find time to go up and paint it.

The FH's last day of work is Friday.
He's starting a new job at a sports store that just came to down called Dunham's.
He's so excited about this opportunity and I am so happy for him!
Although it is temporary at the moment because it's just stocking the store for the opening...they said it could turn into permanent work for him.

My MIL keeps asking us when we will be having kids...ha.
It's kinda funny and kinda not.
We aren't even married yet!
I'll just be turning 21 in November.
I'll still have a year of school left when we get married.
At this point in life I'm not sure if I want kids yet.
If I do...it will probably be when I am 24 or so.
I just think it's kinda soon to be asking me lol.

I've been looking at reception favors recently.
My reception will be sports themed.
I was thinking we could do mini baseball helmets (like the ones they serve ice cream in at baseball games) and put candy in them resembling sports balls.

Well mine and FH's place is finally starting to come together...a little bit. haha.
We haven't had electric or anything hooked up...and finally there is light at the end of the tunnel. We finally got the sewer lines in yesterday...we hooked up the water meter...we finally have water in the house...and the electric man is coming to check/hopefully turn it on today. I took some pics of the process yesterday.

Now photobucket is messing up...but anyway...we are still in the process of trying to finish. My FH is trying to get moved in the next few days...hopefully.
I'm in the process of moving over some of the stuff I don't need at my house right now...since I won't be moving in until we are married.

Haven't got a lot of stuff done wedding wise though...ah no biggie...I got over 8 months.

My mom is going to Alaska on a business trip Saturday for a week and after she gets back I'll get to get my wedding dress...I'm super excited about ordering...I want it now!

I went to church today with FH and after the service was over we went to talk to him privately in his office. We had not offically asked him to do our wedding so we went to ask him if he'd do it. He said of course, he'd be honored to. That makes me so happy. It makes it feel more real now too. Our marriage counseling session will be late April to May. I'm so excited. :D

I'm so ticked off.
I went back to the site this morning that I was going to buy my wedding dress at for $750.00 to discover that they had raised the price of it to $990.00. I can't find the dress anywhere else online either...it's been a horrible day today...:sob:

I have no idea why they did it.
But I'm still frustrated about it this morning.
I'll just have to try to go back to the orginial store I saw it at and see if they still have the dress at $800 I guess.

This really has nothing to do with the wedding planning...
but I lost my grandmother the 3rd. The visitation is tonight and the funeral is tomorrow at 10:00 am. I just wanted to let everyone know where I was in case anyone was wondering. I knew I would lose her before the wedding and it just kinda hits me harder now that it has happened. I am honoring my dad by a red rose in my bouquet and am now trying to think of something to do for her. But I just wanted to let everyone know...

Brittany~

So sorry to hear about your grandma. My sympathies go out to you.

I just want to say that since you posted today, this was the first time I saw your journal. I read all of it! I luv your colors, your candy-striped walls on your reception hall, and I TOTALLY chose dress #6 before I even knew it was "the one" for you. Your wedding sounds completely cute and I hope you continue to keep us updated. You are going to be beautiful!

Thanks! Planning to pretty slow right now. With school I am so stressed right now and am not getting to think a lot about the wedding. Hopefully by December things will slow down enough to get the ball rolling with the wedding.

It even has the colors of the wedding.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v448/kylovinCA/jeffgordongarter.jpg

These garters are great. I actually bought some on ebay that are Chicago White Sox b/c my FH is a HUGE fan and I thought it would be a fun surprise.

Thanks so much! My FH and his dad worked on them...they did a great job and look so pretty. We are trying to find tile for the two bathrooms and the kitchen now. I don't really think it looks like a trailor from the inside either. Thanks for compliments! :)

I'm glad to hear that they were a good product to buy. I figured since FH is getting a Dale Jr. grooms cake that I can have a Jeff Gordon garter for myself. I bet your husband was really surprised to see yours. :)

I just got back from buying my wedding dress and bringing it home. I am so beyond excited! I'm so glad to know that it's mine and that it's in my possession. :) Another thing that is way awesome is that the dress wasn't on sale but my mother asked the lady if she could get a discount on it and we ended up getting a 10% discount. Every little dollar saved is awesome. :)

I haven't wrote in awhile.
And still haven't done much related to the wedding.
My mom is going to meet with my FH's family this weekend so we can get a idea of everything we want at the wedding, budgets, and all that good stuff.
On a different note, my FH and I are going on a date today to the movies. He's taking me to see Bride Wars...aww. :)
We haven't been on a date in years...this will be nice!

Everytime I see my wedding dress, I want to put it on and wear it. haha. I guess a lot of brides feel that way though. :)

Well I'm going to get my license renewed today so I gotta go get ready. I'll write when I have something worth writting about...lol.

I haven't been around here very much and still unfortunately haven't completed much when it comes to the wedding.

But...we did buy the groom's wedding band on Wednesday.
So that's out of the way now.

I still have so much to do in the next 3.5 months. But I'm excited.

I still have yet to get the bridesmaids dresses which I'm going to try to accomplish in the next few weeks.

I'm going to get my dress altered next month so I'm trying to lose a little weight and keep it off.

Not wedding related, but FH got us tickets to go to the Bristol NASCAR race next month. Woo...we're so excited. :)

I'm about to leave to go try to find some shoes for myself to wear. Wish me luck!

I'm going to take engagement photos in the morning.
We're having his brother-in-law take them for us because he's doing it for free. He's also doing the wedding for free.

After that, I'm going to get my wedding dress altered and see if she will also make my veil for me out of the extra lace that comes off my dress.

I'm excited, tomorrow will be a great day. I hope. :)

I went to take my engagement pics yesterday and we're going to see them tonight. I'll come back and show them to everyone who is interested.

My wedding dress fitting went well...I'm going back in a week to make sure it fits before she cuts off the lace on the top layer. She's also going to make my veil out of the extra fabric off my dress...I'm so excited! :)

We've also got the invitations done:

A month from today I will marry my one and only!
I'm so excited and its all feeling like a reality now.
I haven't got much done with wedding planning due to being in school...but tomorrow is my last final and I will finally be able to plan and get stuff done!

These are my wedding favors for the wedding that I will be ordering soon

I ordered my wedding cake today.

http://i.walmartimages.com/i/instore/cascade_150x150.jpg

It will look something like this...it's the three tier wedding cake and it will have baby blue icing.

We also got the flower girl dress today.

Stuff is getting done...wooo! :)

I forgot to post the flower girl dress the other day so if you cared...here it is:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v448/kylovinCA/Picture003-1.jpg

I got my shoes in yesterday and I love them! Here's a couple of pics I took of them:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v448/kylovinCA/Picture008.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v448/kylovinCA/Picture005.jpg

I also ordered my favors and the clear plastic boxes yesterday.

I decided that I didn't want the cake that I originally bought. We went to see another lady yesterday. She can do the different flavors and the first person would not do it. So the cake will be white instead with blue and yellow flowers surrounding it. It'll still be the three separate tiers like the pics I posted a few posts up. I'm excited...the wedding is not that far away! :)
