View Full Version : !Mock Bouquet Contest!
WebLady

OK Ladies (and our few Gents are welcome to play too); here it is ...
This contest will consist of making a mock bridal bouquet; the catch is that you can't use flowers of any kind! No real, silk, paper, beaded, etc type flowers ... you can use pretty much anything else ;)
Take before, during and final pictures of your project and post them here in this thread as your contest submission. We want to see what you used and how it is all put together. All the peices of your bouquet much be attached as if you were really going to carry it down the aisle.
Entry submissions will be taken today through Friday the 25th; then the mods and I will vote.
There will be one winner and that winner will get $50!!
Get creative and have fun!

Cool, can we use Weeds instead. I've got a Garden full of them.

Nah, I think some weeds could still be considered flowers :p The idea is to think outside of the norm and use odd materials.
For you ladies that are yet to be married, this could be a fun project for a mock bouquet to use at your rehearsal :grinhappy:

How cool is this?! I have all kinds of ideas running around in my head for some fun stuff, but I still have 2 bouquets to make for Gina's wedding (8-8-08) that have to come first, so I don't know that I will have time to get anything else together! I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with though!

OK, well this isn't really complete; you have to have all the part attached, like if it were a real bouquet. So if you want to submit this, you will have to tie the bottles together somehow; just holding them up like that is not good enough ;)

I can't tie them together. FH will Kill me if i tied his JD Collection together. That Collection has taken Years of Hardened Drinking to complete LOL. And those are only a Tenth of his Collection.
But if anyone else does a JD Bouquet. I HAVE THE COPYRIGHT
LOL. While i was typing this FH came downstairs and said yes we can. But i think it's easier for me to forfeit.
I only did it for the laugh anyhow.

Here is something cute another member did a while back that might inspire ...
... I always said I didnt want flowers ... but I always said that I would LOVE a bouquet of Strawberry Lime-aids from Sonic ...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0803/cole_b27/100_0681_edited.jpg
The bouquet out of ribbons from the bridal shower is pretty common -

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_r1jMWQ1d7kw/Ru60hCp3GkI/AAAAAAAAAkc/spBnZgTr8kQ/DSC_0033.JPG
So you could use ribbons, tulle, candy, balloons, etc, etc ... anything that isn't a flower or made to look like one. Get your creative juices going ;)

I didn't actually end up using all the supplies in the picture. Basically I took a 2 liter soda bottle and cut it about 3 inches from the spout. I used coffee filters to make the flowers. I colored them with Crayola markers and then spritzed them with water. It makes the colors combine and give them a tye-dye effect. Then I scrunched the filters into flower shapes and used hot glue to glue them into straws. I glued a gum drop in the center of each flower. Then I glued the straws into the soda bottle bouquet holder and added a ribbon. I also made some wire spirals with gumdrops on the ends but I don't think they show up in the picture.
Thanks for the compliments. It sure was fun!

Looks great but I thought we weren't suppose to use flowers? She made her own flowers from coffee filters, that is perfectly acceptable. This is suppose to be more of a DIY type project made with unusual materials you wouldn't normally use for a bouquet, so we just don't want you to use any premade flowers.

Looking at this again I am going to have to say the same thing I said to Mitch; yours is not really complete. The nail polish bottles just in the glass like that don't really "belong". All the parts used need to be attached somehow, just like if it were a real bouquet.
Since there may have been some confusion when we started we will extend the contest through the weekend!
So you all have today through Sunday to get your projects done and pictures posted!!

Let me just say that this morning has been a BLAST!!!! And everyone's bouquet's have been so unique so far - good job to everyone!!
Unfortunately I can't figure out how to put the pictures right into the post, so you'll have to click the link to see each picture.
The first one is the materials I used:
- some pictures of FH (I loved the idea of having him be part of my bouquet!!!!!)
- one of those styrafoam balls (I stole from my stock of ones that I'm going to make kissing balls out of) I painted it blue
- some blue and green paper cups
- Some toothpicks with plastic jewels on the end of them
- Some straws - both plain and the ones with the umbrellas on them
- Glitter
- Acrylic paint and paintbrush
- Glue
- Ribbon
The second picture is cutout hearts of the pictures of my FH
The third picture shows star cutouts from the paper cups with a toothpick inserted in the center of one (that's how I attached them to the ball)
The fourth picture is after I put gule and glitter on them to shine 'em up a bit!
And the last picture is the final product!!!! I put the pictures on the ball by inserting straws into the ball, cutting a slit at the end of the straw and putting the picture in the slit. I stuck in some of the jeweled toothpicks here and there. Then stuck in a bunch of straws in the bottom and wrapped in ribbon for something to hang on to.
I think this just may be my bouquet for the wedding :-P hehehehe how my mother would freak!!!!

Your bouquet is so beautiful!!
