FH laughs at me still when he tells me my reaction to the proposal. He had the box sitting on the bed next to him and I looked at him accross the hotel room and I said, "Are you serious?" and he looked at me and said, "no, I'm kidding." DUH! Then, he put a fake gumball machine ring out there in place of the real ring and I opened the box and I asked him, "what is this?" THEN..finally he got down on one knee with the real one!!

What did all of you say?? I'm trying to explain to him that I was in shock!!!

I'm not the best one to answer this. I said yes, but only because someone blew the proposal for me, so I knew it was coming, just not when.

Well, I had an idea from how he was acting beforehand. When he did it I started tearing up and my brain started buzzing.

DH had planned to do it at my fav restaurant but as I was realizing what he was about to do, I told him "not here!" My ex had also proposed there and I wanted us to have our own thing, ya know? Anyway, he did it at the hotel later that night with rose petals scattered everywhere and candles lit. It was so beautiful.

I just stood there and laughed at him. :bbeek: I thought he was winding me up.
We have both been Married before so it was never on the cards for us to Marry.
He had always said it was something he would only ever do ONCE. And i always joked about "Not Liking The Taste Of Wedding Cake"

But then he stood up. Took my face in his hands. Looked me straight in the eyes. Then asked me to Marry him again.
It was then i realised he was serious. I said Yes, burst into tears and hugged him forever.

Now here we are less than Three Months away from the Big Day. :D

We knew we were going to get married but we had some hurdles to jump before that could happen and so once the hurdles were behind us, I was expecting it. LOL With that said, I was absolutely, positively certain that he would propose -

At Christmas but he didn't want to combo an engagement with the holiday
On New Years but the thought never occured to him
On Valentines day but he thought that might be cheesy
On my birthday which was sort of his plan but my children announced a visit last minute

So three weeks after, when he told me that we were going away for the weekend, I knew he was going to ask. Still, he managed to pull a fast one on me .... we arrived at the hotel on the Friday night and we received a gift package full of "Montreal goodies". There were a pair of tickets to see the Butterflies go Free exhibit and so I was absolutely, positively certain that this was where he was going to propose the next day. Nope :(

He got me good! We went out to dinner that evening and he had arranged for a limo ride afterwards. As the car turned and started driving towards Montreal's lookout point, I KNEW :) He proposed to me at the same place that he asked me to go steady 28 years before.

I laughed because he got down on one knee and then I cried when he asked me and then I was back to laughing because I was so happy. :D

My FH proposed to me in December and I was really kind of confused through the whole thing...

We were at home and we were going to go to dinner that night but an hour before we left he said he wanted to go look at a motorcycle someone had told him about at work that day. Now let me remind you we live in WISCONSIN and it was DECEMBER. But it really didnt cross my mind at first as being weird, so I said okay.
So he drove over by my moms house a city away and I was like "where is this place?" because he started to drive through the park. He said he just wanted to ride through the park, which actually did look suprisingly pretty for december. And then he stopped, I said "Tyler why are we stopped we need to get to dinner" ( I still had no idea) and he said he wanted to show myles the geese (myles is our son and at this time he was a little under a month old!) I said "tyler hes sleeping, and he doesnt care about geese". He said yes he does lets just go sit on that bench. I still did not think anything of this FH has a habit of being weird, haha. So we sat on the bench looking out at the frozen lake which did look beautiful that day.
And he started talking about how he loved me and I had been looking out at the lake and I went to turn and look at him and there was this gorgeous ring!!! My eyes started to water and I was like its soooooooooooooo pretty. And he said "Is that a yes?" and i was like "yes yes yes yes". He told me to call my mom and tell her he had asked me, but she already knew when I had called...he asked my mom permission. I dont talk to my dad so it really meant a lot to me that he did that. He still says my son helped pick out the ring...how silly. I still kick myself for not realizing what a lame excuses he was making up to get me out to that park...but im sure glad he did. :D

Well mine is a little long. Sorry.

I said are you serious about 10 times...because he wouldn't answer me!LOL.

The day before he purposed he told me he went to look at rings (we had looked together also) He said he found one but it would be a couple of months, because it was more than he planned. So, to tell you the truth I was a little disappointed. The next day I go over to his house after work, walk in and there is this HUGE sign that says "krystal will you marry me."
He was in the other room so I just froze for a sec. then yelled are you serious...no answer. About the third time I say it he walks around the corner...still no answer. So I say it about 6 more times then he came over to me ( I still had not made it in the door) and got down on one knee and pulled the box out of his pocket and said now do you think Im serious.:bbeek:

He still make fun of me too. I think he actually mentioned it yesterday. And Im sure he will for years to come:grinhappy:

Well FH and I have been together for almost 8 years now and lived together for like 5 years and bought our first house together almost a year ago. I had kind of been looking for a ring for awhile, however, marriage was a topic he really didn't like to talk about, especially at other people's weddings when people just assumed we'd be next.

He proposed on a Monday (which was my birthday) and he had been saying all weekend long like this is your birthday weekend, be happy etc. I just kept telling him the weather isnt that nice out and that I'm still not feeling well (I had had what I thought was a cold for like 2 weeks but it was actually pneumonia). But he kept telling me that it was a special weekend because it was my birthday - which I kept telling him was odd because he hates birthdays (his family always gets in a fight on special days).

Anyways....we celebrated my birthday on Sunday with my parents as they had come down to our city to take me out to supper and give me my gift, etc. Matt also gave me his gift that day too.

Then Monday I get home from work and he's like I got you something else for your birthday and I was like No you already gave me my gift and spent more then I did for your birthday. Anyways he told me to stand in the living room and close my eyes while he went to get it. Next thing I know I hear this box being pushed across our carpeted floor - I was thinking in my head omg he just spend another $200 on birthday as there was an ottoman that I wanted that he originally had planned to get me but then I asked for money to get some new clothes. Anyways he told me to open my eyes and he was done on one knee proposing. I was shocked, said YES and got down on the floor and we hugged and kissed for a while until he told me to go and call my mom because she was in the dark. He had asked my dad the day before but told him to keep it quiet so my mom didn't know.

In the box that he was pushing - a filing cabinet that I bought a month before and still hadn't taken out of the box....lol

sorry its a little long.....

I cried.

He'd had a few people come decorate our house with flowers and candles and wine and chocolates while we were gone, so I walked into a big to-do. I started crying as soon as I saw it.

When he got down on his knee, he said, "Cindy, will you make me the luckiest man in the world?"

I said, "I dunno...what do I have to do?"

He said, "I'm getting to that!!!!" and held up the ring. Then he asked me to be his wife.

I said, "YES!!!" and he said, "So, um...do I put the ring on your finger or do you?"

 That's my baby. LOL

See, instead of him putting the ring on my finger, I was so full of emotion that I took the box from him and put it on myself - lol!! I think I couldn't believe that he actually gave me the real one versus the fake one he tried giving me a few seconds earlier.

Those are all such sweet stories!

I knew it was coming and my reaction was "it's about time!" lol. I had already been planning the wedding b/c we were getting married on my late grandfathers birthday, so I had to start planning things once he said we could get married, with or without a ring or proposal. I didn't know he had a ring, but I had been planning the wedding for at least two months and had been bugging him about proposing b/c I hated it not being "official." Finally in October we were talking about what our plans were for halloween and I mentioned that it was my best friend's birthday, who had also passed away earlier that year, a week before my grandfather. So he was like, oh really, well maybe we should go to dinner and then go to the cemetery (kind of morbid, I guess, but he knew I wanted to go there once we got engaged b/c it was my way of including her) so then I knew it was going to happen that night. It did, and it wasn't all that romantic, but he's know romantic so it would have been weird if it were lol. He handed me the ring, it was too small, I called my family and showed his family and everybody agreed that it was about time lol!

Once I saw FH on one knee with the ring in his hand, I didn't even let him finish his proposal before I shouted "Why yes I will!":D (he finished as I was shouting.)

I knew he was going to do it so it was just sort of a "yes, of course" and then we went back to whatever we were talking about...we've been engaged a lot longer than what has been official so the actual asking in a romantic atmosphere was just a lovely bonus.

David had proposed to me when we were still in high school, so although it was the real engagement, I knew it would be awhile.

We went to The Olive Garden because thats my favorite restauraunt, and although we had talked about getting married awhile before he asked I didnt think anything of this day. We always went to the Olive Garden. I didn't expect it this soon, and when I saw him fumbling with his pockets for awhile, I thought something was fishy. Then he pulled out the ring got on one knee, and I started crying. I said "Of course..."

Then the second proposal, after we had our first child, I said I wanted a new BETTER ring before we had planned a wedding, to make it a REAL engagment. I was in the bathroom doing my hair, he walked around the corner, handed me the ring in a box, and said I got you this. HOW ROMANTIC!@! PUNK. LOL.

It was Christmas eve so I was not expecting anything at all; just a nice stroll in the park. Well, when I turned around and he was down on one knee I thought he was tying his shoe or something. When he raised his head and asked me to marry him and pulled out the ring, I said a lot of "What? Oh my God! What?" and produced a lot of tears. I was stunned and near speechless. I was not my usual eloquent self! :winktongue: :grinhappy:

We were in Florida in May on our vacation and I knew it was coming sometime during that week, but no idea when or where. I had previously told Paul that I did not want to be in front of a crowd because I'd knew I'd cry  So..... this happened:

I don't remember my exact first words but I know it was like "what, right now!?" haha and then I laughed and shared a moment with Mickey . He asked, I said yes. He didn't hear me, so I had to say yes again.

Yikes - as my fiance loves to tell, my response to his proposal was crying and shaking my head violently as soon as he got started... and then saying "no.. no... no... sorry... god no..." when he actually asked.

Given that I'd told him I wanted to take things slow this time around (we'd dated for most of college, then broken up for nearly 4 years), and he proposed about 6 months after we got back together, I think I was fully in the right to say no!

With that said, it definitely got things on the right route - he "proposed" with a ring given to him by his grandmother, which is beautiful but entirely inappropriate for my lifestyle (it's a gorgeous dramatic cocktail ring, while I'm a work-with-my-hands vet student). His comments that night were that he knew we weren't ready to make it official, but he wanted me to know just what I meant to him, and that he knew I was very selective in my jewelry and wanted me to be part of the redesign of the ring so it would be ready when I was ready.

It was probably the best thing he could have done, regardless of my wretched response - it took me about 3 months to wrap my brain around the concept of getting married, and another 3 months to interview jewelers and find someone who would make exactly what I had in mind.

I kept teasing him that he still needed to formally propose when the rings were finished, since I hadn't really said "yes" yet, but I didn't expect him to actually do it. He came up to visit (we were long distance at the time) a week after my birthday, with the idea to tell my parents our plans to marry that weekend and his parents the next weekend when I came down there. He told me there had been some snag at the jeweler that my engagement right wasn't ready yet, but he had the other rings to show me (the matching band and the stone-replaced cocktail ring). Apparently I'm gullible, because I totally bought his story, until he took me out to our favorite sushi restaurant and pulled out the ring to officially propose, again!

I'm one of the ones that said "are you serious" lol We were just sitting on the couch waiting for his parents to get ready so we could all go out to eat for his birthday. He is one to always bug me when watching tv and he had been that night. He was bugging me so I started to ignore him until he persisted I look at him and he had the ring and asked me. I guess I wasn't expecting it to be just sitting there on the couch, no getting down on one knee or anything. So I was like "are you serious, why now". His mom knew he was going to ask but didn't know when. so I hid the ring until we were out to eat and when she saw it she freaked out, grabbed my hand and we had to run outside so she could scream.

Disney World? I got engaged at Disney World too! In the restaurant in Cinderella's castle. I had no warning, the ring appeared for me on a decorated plate!! I think I just stared blankly and went "UM, WHAT?!" but of course there was no question the answer was yes.

My FH propsed in a really beautiful but very public spot. Because he was all nervous and romantic feeling, he leant over and gave me a kiss. I take a firm stance against PDA's, so I got all huffy, and was midway through a hissed rant when I realised he had got down on one knee and was fumbling with a ring. So my sentence went like this- "For christ's sake Scott, you know how I feel about PDA's, there are like 50 people up here who all think we're perverts now, thanks for... what are you doing? Holy s%#!! OMG, yes! Get up though, everyones staring."
Yup. Quite the romantic I am :p

We were on the way to his moms house after a day a shopping at the mall. He didnt get anything and was complaining. I want to go buy something. I am like ok yea yea. He goes lets go look at diamonds at Jared's. I say WHY?

He says so we can get married, if you want to marry me of course. My response "stop lying to me you just want to go to that computer store next to Jareds" :grinhappy: We did pull up to Jareds and we both got out and he said he loves me a lot and wanted me to be his wife. Of course then I accepted :D

These are so cute! I love reading about everyones proposal stories.

Mines' pretty simple compared to some but here goes....
FH came and picked me up from my parents house, we were going out to dinner & a movie for our 3rd year anniversary....and when we walked out to the truck he opened the door for me to get in...so I did then wondered why he wasn't shutting the door when I looked up to see if I needed to close the door myself he was getting on one knee...and holding up a box asking, " would you marry me?" The sweetest part was he had tears in his eyes! I didn't cry but definatley got choked up and my hands were shaking, I hopped outta the truck and hugged him and said "yes, yes, yes!" by that time we were both laughing.

He put the ring on my finger and we went right back inside to tell my mom, dad, & little sister; who already knew ! they'd been peeking out the kitchen window the whole time! Turns out he'd asked my Dad one day when he'd come to pick me up for a date and I was still getting ready & then my mom he asked Mothers Day when he came over to visit & I wasn't feeling well.
