I hope this isn't offensive to anyone. I am proud to be getting married to member of the military. This was emailed to me, and I wanted to pass this along. Every man in my life has been in the military at one point or another in thier life, and I am proud!!

Again, I hope this isn't offensive.

Good, Proud American Story.

One of my sons, serves in the military. He is still stateside, here in California. He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him and his troops, everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands, and thank them for being willing to serve and fight, for not only our own freedoms, but, so that others may have them also.

But he also told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday on his way home from the base. He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the U.S. flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touched the pin and said proudly," Yes, I always wear it and probably always will."

The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.

A gentleman standing behind my son stepped forward, putting his arm around my son's shoulders, and nodding towards my son, said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman: "Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here in MY country and accuse a cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country, that you are obviously here in MY country, to avoid."
Everyone within hearing distance cheered!

IF YOU AGREE____ Pass this on to all your proud American friends.

While I don't agree with the war, I fully support our troops. They have the absolute hardest job any American can have and they do it extremely well, even if they don't agree with it, or their fellow countrymen don't agree with it. That takes guts and pride and that's impressive.

That article is wonderful! My dad is a Vietnam Vet, my grandfather is a WWII vet, my cousin went to Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom and will retire in December, I have two other uncles who are Vietnam Vets (one of which received a Purple Heart), and my brother is currently serving in the Texas National Guard. My brother was at the Super Dome in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. His best friend is a Marine and just returned from Iraq last month. So yes I back our troops 100%! While I'm ready for the troops to come home like everyone else, I understand why we have to be there. We need to finish the job this time unlike last time so we will not end up back there again!

Well, I don't really like that piece (just my opinion) because a lot of times, that's totally not true. Most things like that are made up. I happen to know quite a few muslum women, and none of them feel that way. Not a single one.

I don't agree with the war, and don't think that we should be there, and we shouldn't be bombing those people. It's not their fault, and we have no bussiness there.

However, my Dad was in the Air Force during Gulf I, and my experience as a child on base has given me the strong anti-military stance that I have. I do support the troops. I would never do what they do. I couldn't do it.

I support them by writing my congressmen (& women) asking for them to get paid more, and get better benefits, and that they stop cutting veteran's medical plans, and that they just support their "heroes" instead of pretending that they're wonderful and ripping the funding right out from under them.

My opinions might not be popular, but I'm not one to put a magnet on my car and call it patriotism. I feel like too many people "support the troops" and don't actually do anything to help them. They are very brave people who don't get paid half what they deserve.

Just my opinion, though, not trying to start mess. :)

You opinion is just as important as the rest of ours. And I agree, they aren't paid enough, or recieve enough benifits, and that is not just because I am going to marry into it. I see too many service men and women living is squaller because they can't support thier families. I hope that one day our government will see how important, and brave they are, and reqard them justly for it.
