A few weeks ago I found my perfect DIY invitations, the only problem is I can't seem to figure out how I am going to get my printer to print on them. They are just a blank Tri-folded card with no instructions. Has anyone here done Tri-folded DIY invites? Any tricks you could pass along, so I don't waste half of my cards on trial and error methods? Thanks in advance.

What brand of invites are they? Sometimes you can go to the makers website and they have templates you can download for their products. If not, try using Microsoft Word. Always prints on plain paper first and line it up with the invites to see if the spacing and margins are where you want them. Hope this helps.

I agree with the previous poster. Try test pages and see if you can figure everything out first. Its gonna be a little tricky though cuz you have to align everything up in the right direction and so forth. It seems strange that it didn't come with any instructions, was this Avery brand or some other brand?

If they are trifold and the company does not have a template for them, you have a few options left.

In whatever word processing program you are using, you may choose to do three columns. You can choose where to type on the columns to form your front/back of your invitation.

Personally, I have had great luck with Microsoft's brochure wizard which is based off of a trifold design.

Play around with it and decide how you like it best...print to plain paper though, as the other ladies have suggested, so you don't waste your invite paper!!!

Good luck and I hope this helps.

How long are they and how long is each section? This is what I would do. If you are using Word, you can go to File-->Page Setup and change the size of the page to match the size of the invites. Then columns like 10Nov mentioned could work if you want a wide invitation that folds on the sides.

Or do you want invitations that unfold the long way? In that case I would insert a table with 3 rows and make the borders where the folds are on your invitation. You can highlight the whole table and right click to change border settings and select no border. The borders will still show up on the screen so you can see where they are, but they won't print. At 100% view on the screen the page should match your real life paper so you can measure where the folds are and get the table borders in the right place. Then put what you want where you want and before you print, check out the print preview before printing and def use plain paper first.
