I do! I do!

Today was NOT a good day for either me or the dentist! I was supposed to go in and get my 2 bottom wisdom teeth pulled. Not only did I leave work early, I wasted his time and my time. After abouta gabillion shots in the mouth, I couldn't let him do his stuff...I was just gagging! Uggh! So, they gave me more shots in the sides of the tongue so I wouldn't feel anything....didn't work....so that lead to the "gas". Needless to say, that stuff is great, but it didn't do a darn thing for me today...He did a test on me to see if I would gag...sure did! So, I paid $250 out of pocket for the gas that didn't work! He did say he would put that money towards the anestisia when they knock me out in a few weeks. But still....I hated putting that on my credit card! Uggh.

So...what was your worst visit with the dentist?

Oh my gosh poor you. That sounds like an extremely unpleasant experience! I'm very scared of most medical professionals. I usually think that all of my appointments turn out horrible!

I was more embaressed than anything! I had warned them what to expect from me....I have had my other wisdom teeth pulled (top) with no problem...it is just because they have to put a block in your mouth to keep your jaw stable is what freaked me out....Yuck...so now I still have to go get it done...:irked:

Egad - you have just scared the beeejeeebers out of me. I can make myself gag simply by brushing my teeth! If anyone goes too close to my "spot" I am likely to bite them. Not on purpose mind you; it's just an involuntary reaction.

I have two lower wisdom teeth that have been impacted for years, which I would prefer to have removed. My dentist told me that I would have to see an oral surgeon <<<<< If I ever do find the courage or the time, I hope that means I would be knocked out as well.

Some years back, I had to have a root canal done. Well, the first part went ok. But, when I went back for the dentist to fill the canals with that petra thingies, she did it with no shots at all. It was soooooooo painful. And the she forced me to take antibiotics, which I ended up being allergic to and kept throwing up entire night. Needless to say, between that, horrible pain that wouldn't go away even with Tylenol, bitchy controlling bf and nightmares about video game, I got no sleep and didn't go back to the dentist for years after that root canal was completed.
Later I found out, there was no good reason for her not to give me a shot during the procedure, because my dentist now always makes sure that the painkiller is still working during every single part of the procedure.

I don't mind the dentist, normally. I can do fillings or root canals (have had 2 of them), but ya know what kills me? The twice-a-year cleanings!!! I haaaaaaaaaaate them scraping on my teeth with that thing. EGADS!

I have an appointment for a cleaning this Monday, too. Yuck.

When I was a kid and they did that flouride stuff where they filled the cups and made you sit there with them on your teeth for 15 minutes or whatever. That made me gag like crazy. I remember gagging and crying in that chair. LOL!

And I do gag when I brush my teeth, too. Every single day. *shudder*

I HATED those flouride treatments! Me and my sister always had them done at the same time. We would just drool over the sink to get it out of our mouths. Yuck!

Plus I am not a fan of "cherry" or fruit flavored toothpaste...just give me mint!

Every morning is a real treat while we are getting ready for work....we are always gagging and laughing.

I hated that fluoride stuff so much! They tried to give me bubblegum flavor and it still tasted horrible. I don't like bubblegum flavored things anymore.

I dislike dentists, I have been through so much dental stuff!! Not to mention Novacain ( stuff they use to numb ) dosen't work so well on me so each time I go a need to be numbed yeah I end up with about 6 shots!!!

When I was in the 4th grade I was camping with my grandparents and 2 cousins. well we were at this park and they had this dome shape thing you can climb on, on the way down my foot slipped and I fell foward and one of the bars went in my mouth and almost knocked my front tooth out, it ended up coming out at the hospital later that night. My parents come get me (hour away ) and take me to a hospital back home ( so now about 2 1/2 - 3 hours after the accident ). Needless to say a few years later I needed a root canal and crown (OUCH!!).

Then I had my wisdom teeth out when I was 18 (causing ear pain due to jaw bones rubbing due to overcrowding in my mouth ), none had come through and bottom 2 were impacted. Thankfully they knocked me out with IV at the very begining, the next 2 - 3 weeks sucked !!

Then I just had 4 fillings re-done, it is uncomfortable having they old ones drilled out and replaced !!

Oooh that sounds nasty :( My wisdom teeth haven't even fully come in yet. With any luck I'll be like my grandmother. She had hers all her life without issue.

Normally the dentist doesn't scare me. However I HATE the polishing at cleanings. When they use that gritty "tooth paste" on that little rubber instrument. Bleeeech. No amount of their water squirting could take that taste away.

At least now days, the fluoride treatments are foam. No more of the nasty poorly flavored thick gel stuff we had to let sit on our teeth for what seemed like forever!

I normally don't mind going to the dentist but a few months back I went in to have some work done because I was having a tooth ache. He said it was a crack in the tooth. So he grided on it for awhile and OMG he was hitting some painful spots. i was wincing from the pain and he knew it. He said he was trying to hurry because he knew it was causing discomfort. Well I am still having a little big of pain in the tooth and I'm scared to go back lol.

Ok this is really weird but I have a tooth on the bottom that looks like a T. It has an extra part on the backside of the tooth. You can't tell unless you look inside my mouth. It is interesting when you get someone knew to clean your teeth. My mom had a tooth come in the roof of her mouth she had to have removed. They said years ago when I got my braces off they could remove it and grind it down but I had had it for that long and it's not harming anything so I left it.

I hate going to the dentist so terribly.

If the dentist hurts me I end up crying. I totally freak.

I even hurt with the shots, and (thats the irony) because the dentist doesnt want to hurt me while fixint teeth I end up with 4-5 prickings for shots of anesthesia.:bbcry::bbcry:

She uses a jelly that its supposed to keep you from shot pain but its no good!(its for kids) The needle still hurts and I kinda freak.

I have pain in the nerves that connect the teeth roots to my head right now because I mention all this stuff.:ooh::bbconfused:

I have dentist-phobia I admit!

I hate the dentist. Especially when they do work on my front top teeth. (I had broken them off when I was a kid, and now they are crowned.) He places that cold liquid on them to check to see how sensetive they are. I almost shoot through the roof, becasue of the metal pins inside of them conducts hot or cold easily.

OMG I hate the dentist so much and I have to go in 3 hours for a cleaning. I'm a wreck before I go. I try so hard to take good care, but I swear, I'm orally cursed.

When I was a child we had this evil dentist that terrorized every little kid that went in there. Many years later I heard he was in jail for insurance fraud. I probably didn't need all that work after all.

I never formed 2 of my adult teeth which means I had to try to hang on to the babies. Dentist told me I'd be lucky to hang onto them past 18. About 10 years ago I had to have one of them pulled. The noise was so incredibly gross that as soon as they pulled it, I vomited. Luckily I missed the dentist (and myself!) I still have the other one and I'm hanging onto that one for life!

The worst was a root canal I had a few years ago. The root canal itself, no problem. Then they send you home all doped up on the good stuff. Then it wears off and they tell you to take Aleve. The stuff didn't touch the pain and I had to wait 12 hours to take anything else. I swear, I've never felt so much pain in my life!

Now I've found a dentist that uses Lasers. No novacaine, no drills for most procedures. Haven't had to test that one so far. Hopefully not today!

Really? Wow. I have several root canals, and no problems with them so far.

I swear ever since I had my root canal (and a re-treat on it, which was no treat itself) has always given me problems , moslty sinus) Ugh.

Me. Definitely me.

(Hi there, I'm a friend of one of the brides-ninedays9. She told me about this place, and I tended to lurk when bored, so she said, "Post, silly").

Today I went and my teeth are still sore. I got a temporary crown. Last month I got a root canal. In a month I get the permanent crown and three more fillings. After that, I'm probably out of insurance money for the year.

I have bad teeth, and I didn't go for three years or so while I was in college. Now I'm paying, ouch. I feel like I need one of those cards you get at restaurants: Buy four procedures, get the fifth free, or something.

LOL....for some reason, I loved the taste of fluoride treatments. Odd, I know....

But my pediatric dentist had grape flavored ones, and this is really gross, but the fluoride foam, the grap taste, and the foam trays, it all together, I would turn into this drooling monster....I was afraid to swallow any, and the suction only does some much, I found myself soaking 2 or 3 paper towels. YUCK!
