Blue underware? Don't borrow them though.
Borrowed braclet sounds nice.

Yeah borrowed blue underware doesn't sound too appealing to me either! lol

Blue ribbon is a good idea, but the bracelet won't work. I already bought a beautiful bracelet that matches the crystals in my dress...
Any other borrowed ideas? I don't think jewlery will work, as I have a bracelet, earings, hair pins and rings already... hmmm...

How about an anklet?
Shawna Bride
04-04-2006, 09:57 PM
That's a great idea actually... now to see if any of my close friends/family has an anklet...
Do you think I"m totally leaving this to the last minute or what??? LOL, I just realized it today that I forgot about the whole thing.

An anklet is a good idea!! Otherwise I'd say double up on the bracelets if the tradition means that much to you! I'm not sure there is much more to borrow other than jewelry!!

I am sure thre is to but I coulndt think of anything right off. I think an anklet is a great idea ( I mean I came up with it :p ). It just adds something extra that would look very nice. Good luck and let us know what you come up with.
Have you got a handkerchief? I borrowed a nice hanky from my Mum. I didn't actually have it on me but I'm sure it still counts. I had it in Evans pocket in his tux. This way if I needed it to dab my eyes in the church he could pass it to me easily. (He didn't have too by the way - nearly but not quite.)

i was thinking the same thing and then I thought...nah! lol I usually associate hankies with boogers and them being snot rags! lol sorry but its true! my DH's brother carries one around and blows his nose in it all the time!! I'm always like "ewwww!!" :buck: Do 27 year old men carry hankies?? I thought that was what a kleen-x was for !!!! Am I wrong?? lol

Okay, I've got it figured out.
Something old: My dress designer sewed in a pocket on the inside of my dress, and I'm going to carry a picture of my late grandparents.
Something new: My dress, my shoes, my jewlery, my husband!
Something Blue: I think I'm going to paint my toenails blue, no one will see them anyway.
Something Borrowed: When I was 9 I was a flowergirl for my aunt. I don't remember this but she said I gave her this amethyst rock and told her it would bring her luck. She carried that rock with her for all these years (20), and gave me the rock on my shower. I don't know why I didn't think of that before. She lent it to me for my wedding date, and asked that I give it to her daughter one day when she gets married. So, it is borrowed then!!
Yeah!

Actually, I have this weird calm about me. It's like nothing could go wrong. Yesterday it was actually snowing, and I was like "oh, it's snowing, oh well". Today I realized we messed up on the invitations, because my FH and his parent's do not have the same last name (his father is not his biological one, and he always kept his biological dad's name even though he wasn't in his life) and this is a problem, because when people write checks to us, they may put mr. and mrs.... with his step-dad's last name and not ours... which means that we won't be able to cash them!!! But, I'm just in la-la land that nothing can bring me down!!!

If that happens, you can just give the checks to your FHs parents (the REAL Mr. & Mrs. So-&-So). They can either cash them and give you the money, or write you a check with your true names and just deposit the other checks to cover it!

I always wondered how te bride and groom feels the closer it gets to "the day".Also when you and your groom have your first dance, can you share with me what you talk about?(lol) It sounds weird, but have you ever watched a wedding or been to a wedding and noticed that when the bride and groom shares the first dance as happy and wife they are laughing and carrying on a full conversation? My friend and I always wondered what they would be saying(lol) she got married last year and the day before her wedding she said,"ohh I get to find out what the bride and groom are talking about while they have the first dance"I told her to tell me!(lol) The next week she said "I don't know I can't remember"We both were like "all man, here we go again".(lol)

I couldnt imagine it would be much more than "you are absolutely beautiful", or Brians fav "My name is on your papers now! Youre MINE!" I imagine it would just be about the day. Knowing me though, Id probably be thinking about the load of laundry in the washer!

But what happens if they put Mr & Mrs Ryan "step dad's last name"! I don't think thats really gonna work! I guess you'll just have to hope for the best and if that doesn't happen then you have to hope that people will be understanding and willing to write another cheque!! Good luck!!
PS as far as what the bride and groom say when they are dancing: We talked about the wedding and how great it is to be each others wife/husband and idle chit chat really! We didn't have a very profound conversation or anything! lol

You have a point.
I dont know how hard it is there, but here we could just sign the name thats on the check, then under that sign our names like on our account and just deposit it.

We just spoke to the bank, and they said since Ryan's step dad and us have the same bank, they will let it slide. If not, then we would have had to go up to all the people and ask them to fix it right then and there! How embarassing that would have been!

I saw the 'somthing blue' thong today when i was at walmart! I stopped and thought about it for a minute. Had a little laugh cause i was thinking of this thread. Then decided not to buy them because i want to have the uber comfy boy shorts on instead. I found out how hot it was in my dress yesterday so i was to be as comfy as possible.

I want to give my mother something special on our wedding day because she's paying for everything and I know they really can't afford it. I wanted to find a song for her from me but I can't find one. Is there any other idea's that someone could think of. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I am dancing with my mother and she is giving me away. The song I am using is She's Somebody's Hero by Jaime Oneal I beleive, I can never remember the artist. But it fits her and I. She has been my stone for years. She has struggled when I was growing up and she still does to this day. She just gets by and still had my little brother at home. But if you listen to the words of that song. It is amazing.

Hello,
...And do well to remember the "lucky sixpence in your shoe", it is the conclusion of the tradition!
I had to remind my wife in advance not to forget it on our wedding day. (Since I tend to be a staunch traditionalist, we created a quite "Victorian/Edwardian style" Church wedding. Everything
went well, despite all of the hassle beforehand.
Best wishes to you always. I've stated before on other areas of this site, my occupation within the church has required that I take part in many formal events. I have thus extensively studied etiquette, proper attire, and formalities for years. If anyone requires any advice, please feel free to ask!
Best Regards,
David V. Harrington

I reworked this a little bit too:
Something Old: I found a filligree flower pin at an antique store that I'm turning into a hair accessory.
Something New: Itty Bitty Diamond earrings that Jason got me for V-Day this year for my second hole.
Something Borrowed: My mother's pearls; which ironically enough, served as my aunt's something borrowed in her wedding 18 years ago...hope it's not a bad sign that she's getting divorced now.
Something Blue: Both Garters...many people forget that garters go on both legs (they're made to hold up stockings). So when I told everyone I had two garters, one to keep one to throw, they looked at me like I was crazy.
And, I have an official sixpence for my shoe...my mother's way of making sure I had shoes! :)
All of my underwear is white, so blue would look kind of out of place.

Just a quick question... Are you wearing a garter on both legs? I am putting both on one. I didn't have one to keep atmy first wedding. But when I ordered mine with the little blue horse shoe on it it came with a different one to throw.

Yup! Garters originated as a way to hold up your stockings (which didn't cover butts like the do now). The garter belt clips into them and the garters helped to keep them from slipping...if you've ever bought thigh highs, you know the lacey kind of sticky top? Well, think of the garter as the prehistoric version of that.
I made two, one to keep and one to throw. Neither of them are very impressive, but they'll do the trick. ;)

I know about all that. I was jsut wondering if you were wearing them on each leg. I just like the idea of him taking it off and tossing it. Then there is still one for him for later.
