The FH and I are thinking about going on a week long cruise for our Honeymoon. I've been on 2 cruises already (I love them). He has to, but not the size of the ship that we would be going on. Anyone go on a cruise for your honeymoon? What are some pros and cons?

I just got back from a cruise on a pretty large ship (over 3000). It wasn't a honeymoon but were did get engaged right before we boarded the ship! We went with another couple that chose to go to an all-inclusive resort last fall for their honeymoon and it was so bad that they decided it didn't count and that the cruise was their "real honeymoon" What are your concerns/questions?

We went on a cruise; I won't say our honeymoon was a complete bust, but DH and I were not all that impressed. It was our first cruise and both of us say we would not care to go on a cruise again.
If you like the cruise experience itself I think it is a nice vaca. But for a honeymoon I would request a private table for dinners; it was a big turn off for us that we had assigned tables and had to sit with strangers. Because of this we only ate in the dining room that first night.
There are often a lot of families and kids around too and that may not be the most romantic honeymoon atmosphere. I felt like there was too many people around in general; but if you get a nice room you can escape to your room for private romantic time ... unless you can find an adult only cruise.
I hear that Norwegian cruise line has a more relaxed way they do things; we went on Carnival.

We are going on Royal Caribbean. They are the only cruise line I have been on in the past, so at least I kind of know what to expect of them. We booked a suite with a private balcony. I don't really have any concerns, I just wanted to hear from someone who had been on a cruise for their honeymoon and what they thought about the whole experience.
I have been told to steer away from Carnival, so I'm sorry your experience was not as nice!
I will try to contact Royal Caribbean and ask if there is anyway we can get private seating for dinner.

We are also planning a cruise for our honeymoon. I've been on a cruise before and loved it and FH is excited about the idea. We are probably going to go on a Norwegian cruise to Hawaii. I like the idea of the laid back attitude they have. The cruise I went on before was a Carnival cruise, and even though I've heard they are the worst ones, I still really enjoyed it. Probably helped that we went with a large group of people we knew so we weren't seated with strangers at meal times.

If you have never been to Hawaii, you will love it! It is where we got engaged a little over a month ago!

The cruise we went on was Royal Caribbean as well. We requested a table for 4 with our friends (who had cruised before and were on their "honeymoon") but we were actually assigned different dining rooms. As soon as we got on the ship we requested that we be put together which was no problem but not at a 4 person table. We liked the people we were sitting with anyway so it worked out ok. The later dinner seating had almost no children which was what we hoped for so I'd recommend that if it's a concern for you. We also had a private balcony room and really enjoyed it. It was our first cruise and I loved it. I wouldn't hesitate to go again, even for a honeymoon. I guess it depends on the atmosphere you're looking for.

Depends on when you book it, what time of the year you go, and what type of room you get---rooms with balcony's are more expensive than interior rooms.

We've also been thinking about a cruise....with the cost of gas prices our original plan (driving to the mountains and renting a cabin for a few days) was vetod (well not quite but we're trying to think of other options) FH parents just took the nephews to Disney World (Orlando) & Sea World for 2 nights & 3 days for less than $1500, so we figured it would be a little cheaper for just the two of us. We are still trying to make a decision....but I think a cruise would be nice.

We're doing a western caribbean cruise for a week and it will be the week of Christmas. I did Bahamas cruise last year and loved it but this will be a first for FH. I told him we had to get a balcony though! It was soooo nice to be able to stand out on the balcony at night and I think would be very romantic. I'm so excited about it! We'll be going to Grand Cayman, Cozumel and spending Christmas day in Jamaica.
I think the thing we both like about the cruise is since we haven't lived together and aren't used to being around each other non-stop, there are times we can do our own things yet not be too far away or for too long.

Which cruise line are you going on?? This sounds very similar to the one we are going on.

Carnival, the ship is Conquest. I did a Royal Caribbean one last year and it was nice but this ship is MUCH bigger.
