Okay hopefully I put this in the correct thread....
We are having a party for my FH birthday tomorrow night at his parents house, its real casual and he already knows about it. We are going to fry chicken wings & drummettes & serve with french fries and 4th of July baked beans(yummy, yummy!)
Problem: There are supposed to be 17 people coming; three of these will be children under 13 so we don't expect they'll eat quite as much as the adults, but does anyone know where I can find a food conversion chart or something to show "how much for how many"? I've googled & searched all over and the most I can come up with is a conversion chart for calories or measurement (ie, spoons - cups, pinch- dash, etc.)
If someone could help me out with this I'd be greatful! We still need to buy the chicken for tomorrow night, I was going to do this on the way home from work today but have know idea how much to get, I don't want to end up with uber much left over!?
Thanks in advance:grinhappy:

Not sure if this will help, but try this site:

or

Let me know if that helped at all!

LOL I ALWAYS end up with food left over because I am paranoid about not having enough. Just make sure that whatever it is that you make, is something that you like. It would be even better if it can be frozen so that you aren't eating the same thing for a week!
My brother is like me and so whenever we are invited over to his house for dinner, we can also expect that we will be bringing home food too. He has a cupboard full of take out containers for just such occasions. :)

Thanks Elizabeth & Guy, it did send me to the right place...said to figure at least 1lb to 1/2 lb when it comes to snack foods, I'll probably estimate a lb. b/c the chicken wings will be part of the main meal.... and then I got to thinking well when you go to a resturant and the menu says "LB of shrimp or 1/2" usually a LB is a good sized portion....so that should be enough....The size package of wings we bought b4 were 8lb pkgs, so that should be servings for at least six people even if we have big eaters.? So I think we're looking at needing to purchase about 6 pks.? that would even out to almost 2lbs p.p!? Even with big appetites, grazing & left overs we should be good? Right?
I think I did that right, lol.

I normally do way too much food.
I remember when i worked for a Butchers and a customer shoved a Joint of Beef under my nose and asked how many will it feed?
I replied. It depends how thin you cut it Sir.
If you don't cut it, it feeds One.
If you slice it thin enough it will feed the Five Thousand.
Sounds logic to me LOL.
BTW when i cater for Parties at home. I does look as if the Five Thousand are coming round. There's heaps of the stuff! :bbeek:
One thing puzzles me though. What's the Difference between July 4th Baked Beans and normal Baked Beans?
Do the July 4th Beans make you Fart the Star Spangled Banner or something

Exactimundo!!! No I'm only kidding, the only reason we call them that is b/c my Gramma used to make them but only around the 4th,lol. they are just regular baked beans but have two other kinda beans (pinto & baby green limas) as well as ground beef & bacon & green peppers & onions mixed in....as I said before "yummy, yummy!"

My dad used to tell anyone (to the high embarrassment of us as teenagers:bbredface:, now we laugh along with everyone else) if we were serving some type of bean and the individual declined when the plate went 'round, they might ought to take some if only in self defense:bbeek:

Just as well. Because our National Anthem is so dull i'm almost embarrassed by it.
Give me Land Of Hope And Glory anytime. When the Queen pegs out and Charles takes over we should change our National Anthem.
Why does the Queen need saving? She's got her own Bank Account LOL.

Oh, Please can't we skip Charles and go Straight to William? A King should look like a King!
With a Maiden name like Hastings I can say that. 1066 William the Conquer. And a bunch of them left on the Mayflower in 1620.

Beans beans, the musical fruit
The more you eat, the more you toot
Beans beans are state of the art (or "good for the heart")
The more you eat, the more you fart
Supposedly it's a poem from Boston, Home of the Baked Bean during the Colonial Period.

 This is the one I learned as a kid -
Beans beans the musical fruit
The more you eat, the more you toot
The more you toot, the better you feel
So eat your beans at every meal!

I'm a little late, but this is what we use to use to figure out food for parties when I use to cook for a living.
6-8 ozs of meat / person (includes sandwichwes)
1- 1/2 cups beans, spuds, salad, side dishes, etc / person
Always figure about 10% extra for seconds (and thirds in some cases) if they want, if doing a buffet; sit down, limit it to whats on hand or just enough for seconds.
Drinks vary, depends on how thirsty they are.
