I would just like to know everyone's thoughts in regards to having pets in weddings. First of all, does this ever happen? I have 5 kitties and a pit bull...do I want them at the wedding? No. But I know it must happen that people do want their animals in their wedding since most pets are like family anyway. I am just curious about the topic and wanted to know everyone elses thoughts on it.

I think having the cats in the wedding may be a bit tough because cats are very much 'i do as i please' animals. Were your pit bull would probably be alot more controlable and perdictable. I have seen things on TV where they have gotten a doggy tux and such. But i think a nice bow tie or fancy collar with a leash that matched the wedding colours would be cute. Watch out for any possibly doggy 'gifts'.
If you pets are that important to you i think having them be apart of your wedding would be ok.

I would love to have my kitty cat Rudy in the wedding, but I'm pretty sure that he would destroy a lot of stuff. I keep threatening to get him a kitty cat tuxedo and take pictures and them super impose them into a formal wedding shot of me and my FH...lol...but I don't think that I would be able to get the tux on him.

I would love to use my dog, Peanut, in the wedding. But I don't think she would be very well-behaved for that length of time. Plus, if I used her, I would feel like we would need to use the other family dogs, so no one else would be jealous ;). I think it's cute when people's pets are in their weddings though I've never been to one.

I'm sure it's been done. I found these pictures of dogs that aren't necessarily in the wedding, these dogs are the wedding.

LOL, I did a wedding once that had a dog as the Ring Bearer ;) It was cute and the dog was very well behaved. I don't know what kind of dog it was, I think it was a mutt ;)
I did another wedding where I took pictures at the brides house getting ready and she had to have pics of her and her dogs, but they were not 'in' the wedding.
I am sure it happens, I see wedding clothes for dogs all over the internet ;)

I have two Scotties that are like children to Sean and I. Ruffles is 13 and Ellie is 3. I would totally have them both in the wedding. Ruffles would be walking me down the aisle and Ellie could be a "flower girl". Ruffles wouldn't be a problem because after her moment of glory (she is really al ittle ham) she wouldn't have no problem going over and taking a seat with my parents. THe only thing is that her snores when she fell asleep would probably drown out the ceremony. Ellie on the other hand is a total nutcase with ah yperactivity disorder. Plus she doesn't much care for other people outside of Sean and I. So there would be no way that she could be there. But Ellie were a couple years older and bit calmer, they would both be in.

I almost ended up with a dog in our wedding but not by choice!!!! My DH's parents have a farm and they have a farm dog who doesn't know not to jump up on people. Well we were taking pics and some how he got out of the back of my FIL's truck and Bailey (the dog...a golden retriever) was headed straight for the wedding party!! Now being a farm dog and outside all the time, well you can guess he's a little dirty and smelly!! Thank God the assistant to the photographer was quick enough that she snapped up his leash and he didn't make it to us! (I know he woudl have come straight for me because we are buds and he seems to like me better then anyone but my MIL.) I can only imagine this great big dog leaping on the front of my dress and how upset I would have been!!!!!
Also, my DH's family are a bunch of tree huggers and for some reason they thought we SHOULD take pictures with the dog!! My DH and I were quick to say "HELL NO!! We are not wasting time trying to get a dog to take a good picture!" A couple days later we did family pictures again (I have no idea why and I wasn't told about it until the last minute!) and they just HAD to have one with the dog! It took about a half hour to get a good one with the darn dog!! So i'm glad we didn't waste the time on our wedding day!!!!!!

They would probably love every moment of it too...

I would love to have my dog Sadie in the wedding! She is my baby! However, the place we are getting married at does not allow dogs and I don't think Justin would appreciate it and neither would my parents. But I love the idea and think it's totally cute.

Me personally, I think it's hokey to have your pet in your wedding. That is like when people call thier pets 'kids'. That just drives me batty!!! Hope that doesn't offend anyone.

I know that some people love their pets like they were their kids. Amber thinks she is one of them. It doesn't bother me at all. But if Amber was serious about having her animals in the wedding, I would work really hard to try to convince her not to do it. We might as well have the wedding in a barn.

Even if I wanted to I couldn't.Emmitt is too snooty(Poodle) and killa (shepard mix)is something out of a "Goofy Movie"(lol) and it would take the entire wedding to keep them from chasing one another. One once more attention than the other. That would be a sight!

Your opinion does not offend me, but I will have to say that I am one of those people. I call Sadie my daughter all the time. I will have to say that I love her as much as I love the people in my life. She and I have a very strong and special bond that not many people can understand. But I do have to say when I have kids they have to come before Sadie. But kids come before my comforts were met and my kids would come before my FH even.

I have to agree with you Kacie...all of my girls are my kids. Jason and I are their dad and mom. It is too funny my FH's son even we will tell our dog Sassy, "go see dad" when she is bothering him. Of course things change when you start having kids, but that does not affect how you feel about your pets. Most of the time I like my girls more than people becasue all they want is love and all they give is love...not like humans at all.

If I wanted my girls in the wedding there is nothing in this world that would change that, but I think it would be a bit "too much" if they were there...and I do love my girls very much.
