I'm a thrift store junkie. I can spend HOURS in those places and find some of the coolest stuff. BUT I'm getting sick and tired of them STAPLING the price tags to the shirts and ripping holes in them!! I bought three shirts the other day from The Salvation Army and one of them is completely unwearable because of the **** staple holes! :irked: It's hard enough to find clothes there that aren't already ripped/stained...but to take the ones that are perfect and RIP THEM UP just infuriates me!! They could at least staple them to the back of the shirt...the collar...or somewhere less noticeable! GRRR!!

I'm totally with you on this! I bought some baby clothes for my niece at The Salvation Army and by the time I took the staples out of her clothes, I ruined one onesie. Argh! Also, when you try the clothes on, sometimes the stupid staple doesn't even keep the tag in the clothing. Then you can't even buy it because they think you're switching tags or something. You have to give it back for them to re-tag and put out on the shelf (they don't just re-tag it in front of you). How irritating! There's a new Salvation Army in my town and I stopped by over the 4th of July. Had a HUGE cart full of clothes to try on. I ask the saleslady where the dressing rooms are, and she said they DON'T HAVE ANY!! Huh? How do they expect to sell clothes when you can't even try them on? There's my rant about the Salvation Army for ya... :)

I've never seen that!! I'm glad, cause I love thrift stores too!
On Friday I bought an H&M dress, cute shoes, and new purse all for less $40 from a resale shop! Complete with no holes. LOL My new recycling/fair trade efforts are to only buy resale clothes. (The dress looked much better when I wasn't slouched, btw.)

I didn't even know that some of them used staples! That sucks. It's a rather trendy thing to resale shop around here so maybe that's why. There was even a pair of Jimmy Choos at the resale shop, but they were $50. They were hot!!

I got my Wedding Dress in a Charity Shop. (I assume that's the same as a Thrift Store)
Cost me £7.50. Approx $15.
I get all my clothes from those kinda of shops. Can get some great designer stuff for a fraction of the price. Plus all proceeds go to Charity and not some Fat-Cat sitting in an office somewhere.
I've even got Furniture from Charity Shops. Especially when we were first setting up home and funds were tight. Bought a Single Bed that converts into a Double. One bed fits under the other. It came still wrapped in the original warehouse packaging. And had been delivered to another address in town less than a week before i bought it. It still had the delivery notice on it. So we reckon someone bought it for a couple of nights then gave it to the Charity Shop. Cost £15 Approx $30. To buy one new in the Shops would cost £200. Approx $400.

Ooh, I love thrift-store shopping too!!! Not only do I hate staples in clothes, I HATE how Goodwill writes with Sharpie on the bottom of dishes, cups, etc. or on picture frames.

I've never seen that, but I've never been in a goodwill store, just other thrift shops. I love thrift stores too (and garage sales), but I never get to go to them. That sucks about the staples, though, that doesn't make any sense for them to do.

I HEART thrift stores! My mom and I used to go every week before we would go grocery shoppping. All of my furniture is either from family or thrift stores! There are a few places around here that staple tags and it drives me crazy! It is so hard to get them out sometimes!

I love thrift shops too!!! I finally got FH to agree to go look when he said he was needing new work clothes(t-shirts, jean shorts or jeans) and he was psyched to find he could (and did) buy two shirts & 5 pairs of jean shorts for $23!!!
I was like "now do you see why I love this place!"
I always try to find my summer shorts, capris & dresses there b/c I hate to pay full price for anything much less somethign that doesn't have enough material in it to warrant paying that price to begin with:grinhappy:
I was so excited the other day b/c I got a black suit coat(can't wear til winter but hey it was only $5 and they sell in stores for closer to $30) and a gorgeous little white eyelet sundress....which when I got home the dress was too small in the chest:( so I took it over to my cousin to see if she could fit it.
Gotta love the Thrift Stores!

I love thrift stores!! I love it when I'm able to get clothes for my six year old son. He goes through clothes within a couple of months and going to thrift stores really helps me not break my bank. Savers and Goodwill do staple their tags, but I've never really cared because I guess I'm always carefully pulling of the tags. Now I'll be more aware of the tags...
DH also loves me going to thrift stores because I've found some really great furniture thats still in great shape. How can someone not love a good bargain!! LOL
