For those who have to deal with rude people, here is a little saving grace I picked up....ironically....from my wretch of a FMIL...

The next time someone is being out and out MEAN or RUDE or other wise acting UNACCEPTIBLY, (as can happen with conversations about weddings) try saying this:

"It doesn't cost anything to be nice. When you can be nice, we will continue this conversation. Until then, I really do have to go. Good-bye."

BANG-O!!! It's not rude, it just stops the behavior.

Or as i always say.

If you can't say anything nice. Then it's best to say nothing at all.

^^^^^^ my mom's favourite.

I should have used either line on the pushy real estate agent we met up with yesterday. She would also do well to learn that people do not buy from someone that they do not like.

I agree. When you are in a store and someone treats you like an inconvinience, I just tend to leave and take my business elsewhere.

Likewise. I worked in retail for years, and even if a customer was petty and nasty, I was polite, personable, and 100% helpful (to get them out of the store faster :bbevil:)!

Oh, me too.

I tell rude people that my Mom raised me according to the Golden Rule. Treat others the way that you want to be treated.

Ditto!! Unless they are getting super nasty.. Specially to my baggers! :irked: I don't make enough to put up with peoples sh!t.
