Daylight Saving Time begins for most of the United States at 2:00 am on the first Sunday of April, that is tomorrow!
I almost forgot until someone reminded me ... so don't forget to change your clocks ahead an hour tonight when you go to bed.

My alarm clock changes on its own I love it.
I wish mine would do that! The time on my cell changes by itself, as does the computer and the alarm system in the house. But we have to change the clock on the microwave, the stove and the ones in the bedroom (DH and I have our own alarm clocks 'cause we usually have to get up at different times) and the clock in my car and the one in the radio. I usually make DH do most of them, I will do the ones in the kitchen and my alarm clock ;)

We have daylight savings here in Canada as well ... Cool, I always wondered what if any other areas did it ;) So is it all of Canada or just certain parts?

I'm pretty sure every where in the world has some sort of time change or everything would get all messed up when you try to figure out what time it is in other places. Like for instance, if some place is 10 hours ahead of us, then at some time of the year they would only be 9 hours away from us. That would screw things up. But who knows. This is just my theory.
We had are daylight savings time change back on the 19 March. We had to put our clocks back 1 hour. I perfer it the other way round though. I love it when its light in the evenings. It feels like you have more time to do stuff. We are in Autumn (Fall) and its diffently changing tempertures in the weather. It wasn't so bad this weekend though and we took Keira to the beach for her first time today. (I'll post some pics soon.)

We don't have it here in Arizona. We already have too much daylight as it is, we definitely don't want to save any of it.

They don't have it in Hawaii either, so that will make calling Hawaii at work so much easier! YAY! Usually I have to wait until two in the afternoon and then I only have two hours to do my Hawaii work...which isn't too much, but sometimes it can get complicated.
Thanks for the reminder...although, , we still haven't changed our clocks over.

Hawaii SHOULD have it though!! (JMO...lol) It always gets dark at 7:30...gets kinda annoying when you are there because we were used to having day light until 11 at night and being able to do things! Mind you, we still went out and did things but it kinda made somethings impossible. (like swimming in the ocean because I am petrified of sharks in the light, I deffinately couldnt swim in the ocean in the dark and not being thinking the whole time that a shark was going to eat me!! Lmao!! )

In parts of Austraila like Adalade (sp?) , it's more on the south part, they set their clocks only 1/2 hour difference. I had a close friend there for a few years and half the yr the time difference was like 13 hours and then the other half it was 14 and 1/2 hours because the go oppisite then we do. They have winter when we have summer and visa versa. My freind from thre is from Brisbane and the change the hour but back instead of forward like we do. She came here during her summer the first time she was here and she thought she was gonna freeze to death. It was Feb and we had alot of snow that year. Last yr she came in her winter and our summer. She felt more at home. Sorry got off track there. It just amazes me some times.

I thought all of the US did it hmmm ... I wonder where all that started anyway. Sort of seems like a hassle to me.
My husband always gets a little messed up with it for a few days ... it usually doesn't bother me much, I don't think about it and I don't miss the hour we lost. This morning though was a different story ... the dog woke me up at 9am instead of our usual 10am, I guess it the time felt the same for him ;)

I pulled this off the internet.
Daylight Saving Time was instituted in the United States during World War I (http://history1900s.about.com/cs/worldwari/index.htm) in order to save energy for war production by taking advantage of the later hours of daylight between April and October. During World War II the federal government again required the states to observe the time change. Between the wars and after World War II, (http://history1900s.about.com/cs/worldwarii/) states and communities chose whether or not to observe Daylight Saving Time. In 1966, Congress passed the Uniform Time Act (http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/XJ&sdn=geography&zu=http%3A%2F%2Ffatty.law.cornell.edu%2Fuscode%2F1 5%2F260a.html) which standardized the length of Daylight Saving Time.
No More Sunlight in Arizona and Hawaii
Arizona (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0108181.html) (with the exception of the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0108204.html) and the territories of Puerto Rico (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0113949.html), Virgin Islands (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0113951.html), Guam (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0113950.html), and American Samoa (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0113952.html) are the only places in the U.S. that do not observe DST but instead stay on "standard time" all year long. And if you've spent any time in the sweltering summer sun in those regions you can understand why residents don't need another hour of sunlight.

I heard two different things about daylights savings time. First was that they were going to switch it to two hours and the other was that they were going to get rid of it all together. It was originally started for farming and seeing as how America doesn't do anything on it's own soil anymore, I guess they figure it's not needed anymore...that's what we pay our congressmen to do! :)

Yes it is definately a blessing in disguise for my DH's family! They farm over 5000 acres of canola, wheat, barley and a few others!! They are very busy people and need all the day light they can get! (Even though they tend to run much into the wee hours of the morning and sometimes only get about two hours of sleep on average for about two months!!) I think this year we'll probably get roped into helping since my FIL won't be able to do much farming becaues of the blood clots in his leg! Whatever, we could use the money for sure! And with two of us working we could pull in close to three thousand a month!! YAY!

It stays light there until 11 PM! Wow! I love it now when the time changes and it stays light until 8 now. When the time changes back in the winter it gets dark around 5:30 or 6. I can't imagine it being light at 10 or 11. Wow!

I actually did pretty good on the time change. I had to be a to work by 6am Sunday morning, so I re-set all the clocks Saturday night. I was exhausted so actually feel alseep early. And have been good every since! I'm more of a summer person anyway. I don't know why, but my body works much better when we "spring foward".

The time change is realy fun when there is a baby in the house. My kids were still asleep at 8 am on Sunday when Nicholas left for work. but then I remembered about the time change and realized why. They were up very shortly after that.
