View Full Version : To Cut or Not to Cut? That is the Question.

Over the years I've colored my hair just about every color there is. Sometimes on purpose, other times tragic accidents. But I've had basically the same hairstyle forever. I was just about to cut it short when my FH proposed. I have an appointment tomorrow night and I just don't know what to do now. I'm afraid that I'll want it long for the wedding but that's not until next June. What should I do?

How long is it; got a picture of you now?
I say go for the change; it will grow out by the wedding if that is what you want. Maybe you can just get some sort of new style but not go too short if you don't want to.
Brandi's right, you have plenty of time to grow it out for the wedding if you don't like it. What does it look like now?

I'm facing the same dilemma. I have very long hair that I've been considering chopping off for some time. I still have no idea if I want to or not!
My FH's argument has been that I also will have plenty of time to grow out my hair if I don't like it. I'm still scared.

You have fine hair like mine and good bone structure. I'm sure you'll love short hair and never want to go back (or maybe I'm just projecting - I remember when my hair was your length - I HATED taking care of it!)
Here's what my hair looks like now:

Yes, my hair is fine. It's also wavy which I straighten most days. Mind you in this picture it had been slept on so it was a little flatter than normal. (We were on a cruise and got into port really early.) I have had it pretty short about 12 years ago and I looked, well, about 12. I guess I'd be less concerned about looking young at this point in my life - that might be a good thing. My FH doesn't really want me to cut it either. I'm just tired of it. Sigh, what to do...
I think you're hair would look really good shorter! It may even give it a little added volume. Mine did when I cut it!

ARGH, my hair is naturally wavy too. Fine and wavy... I kinda feel like I lost the genetic lottery in the hair department. :irked: Thankfully, my FH has a MAJOR short-haired girl fetish, so that worked out in my favor.
Why doesn't your FH want you to cut your hair?
Although I think you'd look really pretty with short hair, I worry about what wedding hairstyle you'll choose - There are tons of cute styles for your length hair but precious few bridal hairstyles for short hair out there.

maybe dont go super short? I'm trying to keep the scissors outta mine til after mine & my sisters weddings so the last time I went to the salon(this past Monday:grinhappy:) I couldn't tell her to cut it all off (like I REALLY wanted to)
what about getting it cut in a bob with layers all in the front? It could be a long bob, just above your shoulders instead of almost to your ears. then it really wouldn't take too long to grow back and you would have the volume your hoping for? Just a suggestion, Good luck!
Let us know what you decide:grinhappy:

Yeah, I was thinking a bob around shoulder length slightly longer in the front than the back. It would be less weighted down and I could still put it up to exercise. Thanks!
