heres the deal girls: i've fallen in love with a dress! and i need help because its about $10,000! yikes!
if someone could post a picture since i am dumb and dont know how to, its www.stpucchi.com (http://www.stpucchi.com) and style # 9267, that would be awesome!
anyways, i've been dress shopping and nothing i try on compares to this one that i saw in a magazine. i love it!!!

so...has anyone else fallen in love with a dress that you definitely CANT afford?! :sob:
hopefully i'll find something similar, but so far i havent found anything with the dropped waist that is that exaggerated and the pleats in the skirt. i just feel like its the perfect blend of the mermaid styles that i like (since the whole top is fitted down to the bottom of your tush) and ballgown (since the skirt is full and has a train).
what to do?

Well considering $10,000 would buy you a Car in the UK.
Have you thought about seeing a seamstress and she what she can come up with?

I haven't fallen in love with a dress I can't afford, mostly because I have cheap taste! I did fall in love with lace overlay dresses that couldn't be altered to fit me, though, so I do understand your pain!

What is your dress budget? Maybe we can find a knockoff or a similar cut for you!

I had the same problem! My dream dress was about $12,000!! Fortunately I have a very talented mother and she custom made me a dress with all the features I loved from the designer gown, for about $100!!

umm...my dress budget is...well i dont really have one. but i guess no more than $1,000 at the most. lol.
unfortunately i dont have a talented mother (she can only sew buttons haha), and i dont know that i want to go to a seamstress because i dont really know anyone and i dont know that i'd trust someone to do it right.
i looked around online and couldnt find anything, but if you girls come across anything, i'd appreciate input!
also, i'm going to a bridal boutique that my fiance's friends own and they sell st. pucchi, but i dont know that even if they give me a deal, i still probably cant afford it. well, maybe i'll fall in love with one i try on when i go there... i hope so!

sarah, your mom is VERY talented...i love it!

Your Mum is certainly talented.
I think your Dress is better than the Designer. Which goes to prove that just because it has a posh label doesn't make it better.

10,000 is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a dress unless you are Beyonce Knowles and even then 9,000 would be better spent feeding hungry children. Look at the links to the dresses below. I think they are similar to the gown you love and more of a reasonable price.

Even if you don't much care for the dresses I linked to take a few hours (seriously) to search the internet for designers and retailers that are realiable but cheaper.

These aren't exactly the same (no pleats. :( ), but they have a similar silhouette. While I don't know how much they cost, exactly, people I know have bought gowns from these designers, which is generally a good sign that they won't cost an arm and a leg.

This one also comes in white.

I'll ask my other friends where they got their dresses and see what else I can find for you!

These dresses are very similar. You can get it at Alfred Angelo, and price is about $2600. The only thing is, it doesn't come in pure white but in diamond white. I did try one of the dresses from that collection in Alfred Angelo, and was rather happy with it, although it wasn't it.

Have you tried this dress on? If not then you don't really even know how it fits on you. I think for $10K you need to put it aside and either find something that's close or find a way to mimick it, like with a custom-designed dress. More $$ does not equal more beautiful. You're going to find something that makes you feel fabulous and you will find it for a reasonable price. I know you can!

Besides, honestly, when I look at the dress all I can stare at is her hips. I don't even think the shape is necessarily that figure-flattering. A dress like that can really make someone's hips look wide, which is always what I notice when I see them, and maybe not in a flattering way. So definitely try it on and see.

Good point! I loved dresses with a drop-waist detail in pics, but when I tried them on, I looked like a total pear - and my hips are 3" smaller around than my bust!

I'm looking at mermaid style dresses. You really need to go try them on because I have been to several places that admit that not everyone can pull off that style. I just tried on one at Davids Bridal that looked super similar to that dress...I don't know if it is on their website or not, but you might be able to find it..and I know it was just or less than $1050.

Oh I found it! It doesn't have as much jewels and beadwork, but you could get that added for way cheaper than $10,000.

Just go to a seamstress with the picture. Designer dresses tend to be more expensive because of the name and the fabrics. You could go with cheaper fabrics and have the dress made for way cheaper.

Some Brides look like they are walking with a Coin stuck up their arse and scared to drop it in a Mermaid Skirt.
Or look like they are going to fall over.

ROFL, I looked pretty good at a standstill in it, but I was totally walking like that when I tried on a mermaid-style gown! I called it the "Barbie-Doll Shuffle."

:D Hi ladies... I'm new here but I just had to comment on this post... The dress you picked out is absolutely beautiful... (in fact, I'd picked out something similar from the place I got my dress from, but I decided to go with something more of a ball gown, since I'm a full figured bride, lol). But the dress I picked out is this one: http://juliusbridal.com/product.asp?DressName=Laura . I actually had this same dress shipped to me, but I decided that it wasn't as beautiful on me as another style would be. It's pretty similar in style to the one you picked out, very well made too, and cheaper. Just thought you might want to look at it. :D Oh, and is there some introduction board on this site? I don't want anyone to think I'm a spammer or anything, since this is my 2nd post on here. Hope the link helps some.

$599 is a lot cheaper than $10,000. Great Find.
