So, FH and I didn't know whether or not we would have enough money left-over to do anything really fun for the honeymoon. Over the weekend, he mentioned going to Las Vegas for the honeymoon! I've never been, so it's going to be so much fun! We have been trying to figure out where to stay and think we've decided on The Luxor. Has anybody ever stayed there before? I can't wait! We're leaving on Saturday, July 19 and will be coming back on July 27. I'm sooo excited!!! :D

I haven't stayed at the Luxor but I've been to Vegas a number of times--a few of my friends moved there after high school. It's a BLAST! And I don't even gamble. Well, other than nickle slots just to get the free drinks. ;)

My friends normally stay at the Luxor when they go, BUT right now it's undergoing major rennovations, so you might want to inquire about that before making reservations.

We're going in September, and we looked at the the MGM Grand, the Signature at MGM Grand, and TheHotel at Mandalay Bay (all are about the same price point as the Luxor). We decided on TheHotel just because the rooms are a bit nicer looking than the others, and they're BIGGER -- largest standard room in Vegas (their standard room is a small suite).

Also, since we shopped (price compared) for months before we booked, I found that LasVegas.com had the best pricing on packages (airfare, car and hotel) -- we saved several hundred $$$ over Priceline, Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, or Hotels.com. (and since LasVegas.com is now owned by Southwest, it was the ONLY site we could book a non-stop flight on without spending an arm and a leg).

Mandalay Bay is completely booked for two of the days we need...otherwise I would have picked there. A friend told me that the Luxor kind of has the "hotel look" going on...what do you guys think, for those of you that have been? We really just want a nice view, a decent sized room, something nicer than the typical hotel, and a smoking room! LOL The same friend I referred to earlier suggested we stay at the Paris hotel. I've been looking at the MGM Grand, too...I just can't decide! I don't think I want to stay at the Luxor, though...

Ah, rats, then I think that lets out Signature, The Hotel and the other one I was going to suggest (the Platinum) as I think they're all 100% non-smoking. :(

Hi There,

We went to Vegas in Dec 05 and we stayed at the MGM grand. It was PERFECT. HUGE! It had everything, (lions, casinos, a spa, a gym, restaurants, a juice bar, dance clubs, etc) and it was still quite new looking and fancy.

We really enjoyed it and the service was quite good as well.

It was a fun experience. Hope you enjoy it!

We ended up going with the Mirage cause we found a really good deal! I'm so excited!!! I can't wait to see everything! And eat, drink, shop, etc.! I think it was a good deal anyways. Five nights for a little less than $600. Just a little bit more than we were going to be paying for a different place and we have a guarnteed view of the strip! :D

You will have a great time!

There are walkways across the top of the strip that you can take pictures from- be sure and get some at night!

It really is a blast.:D

(and good luck if you gamble! My sister won 5K on her honeymoon at a casino last year!)

We were just in Vegas this past May, there is alot of construction going on everywhere. At the Mirage, they took out the lions exhibit they had and are re-doing the waterfall out front.

Anywhere you go, you will be happy, You have to be happy in Vegas, I think that is the law. :)

It's hard to believe that this time next week we'll be in Vegas! I saw all the construction that was going on, but there's so much to do I'm sure we'll find plenty of stuff to do! FH was looking online for things to do in Vegas and found a mobster tour. Here's the link: http://www.vegasmobtour.com/html/about.htm
Think we're going to go on that tour! It would be really interesting!
And he also found one for Haunted Vegas, which would be really cool, too! Here's the link: http://www.hauntedvegastours.com/index_2.htm
If anybody has any suggestions on other places or things to do in Vegas that we must do in Vegas?

You could rent a car and go out to Lake Mead (that's where we stayed for our honeymoon) they have a wonderful dinner cruise that will take you really close to the Hoover Dam... there website is www.lakemeadcruises.com (http://www.lakemeadcruises.com) actually we had our wedding reception on it, but it is beautiful, and the Valley of Fire is really neat to see. All of this is about 45 minutes to an hours drive from the strip.

Thanks! That's an awesome idea! We are actually driving and we were going to go to the Hoover Dam, too. I'll have to check them out! :D

I will definitely post some pics! It will probably be about a week before I can, though. If I get enough time before then, I will post them sooner.
