So I'm CLUELESS about TTC other than #1) get off the pill and #2) have lots of sex. Do you guys know of any good books that tell you how to track your cycles and when the best times to try are, etc etc? I need help! lol

"Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler

It's a wonderful book. It tells you about temping and tracking your cycles, how to tell when you're most fertile, etc.

So...that book was totally awesome!! It really opened my eyes to some things I never knew before. It kinda depressed me though...because it finally told me what was happening to me when I'd bleed every 2 weeks - anovulatory bleeding :( Which means...I'm not ovulating. Not that I necessarily need to be until next May when we start trying...but I'd rather get that sorted out sooner rather than later!

My OBGYN (stupid witch that she is) just told me to stay on my birth control until I'm ready to start trying...then they'll stick me on chlomid if I don't get pregnant within 3 months. How about you help me control my PCOS so that this isn't even an issue instead of just trying to cover it up with BC!

So anyways...I'm going to see an endocrinologist next week. Crossing my fingers that he knows what the hell he's talking about and will actually help me.

I'm glad that you found the book informative and that you got some answers. I think it's great that you're going to see an endocrinologist now.

My sister is battling infertility and has found that OB/GYNs are only able to help so much before it's necessary to see an RE.

Good luck!

This is a very informative book. FH and I plan to TTC starting next month (about 3 weeks before the wedding- I know we're crazy!) and I stopped taking the pill 2 months ago to prepare, and have been charting ever since and it's very helpful and informative to know I am ovulating and my luteal phase is long enough to sustain implantation.

Also, I know when to expect my period which is helpful since after 14 years of 'controlled periods' on the pill I had no idea when I'd get my period!

I know more about my body than I ever thought I would care to!:D

This stuff is really cool, even though I am not TTC at the moment.

Endocrinologists really are the right way to go. My ob/gyn referred me to one when I was first diagnosed with PCOS at 14.

At least the two I have had really were helpful. Hopefully you have good luck on getting a good one.

I was told I could never have a baby, but they started me on a new medication (which causes birth defects) because they didnt think I could have kids and I would be safe taking it. And after two months of taking it I was pregnant. From what I hear a lot of women have had the same thing happen.

The right combination of medication ( that arent used for fertility) seem to work to get you pregnant somehow. It was crazy how many people I have heard it happen to. My son was my little miracle and I am sure one day you have a miracle of your own :-)

I hope that made sense. haha. It sounded okay to me when I was typing it.

My best friend had tried to conceive for 2 years. She was not ovulating on her either. They put her on chlomid and with the first dose of it they got pregnant. Good luck with getting it all takeb care of so you can concieve when your ready.
