I just got my caterer!! It's costing about $2300, which is a bit more than I was expecting, but I wasn't accounting for all the costs (linens, servers, dishes, etc.) I know one of the owners, so they are giving me a deal too!!!

Yea! One less thing to mark off the list ;) In my experience the food is usually a big expense ... how many people are you having to feed?

We are expecting about 100 people. Of course, we haven't finalized our guest list, but that is the preliminary head count.

Oh, I am sorry.Canadian Bride. You asked about the broom bearer. An African wedding tradition is for the Bride and Groom to hop over the broom! It represents the new start of their lives. A lot of African American couples use this at the end of the wedding ceremony.after you are pronounced mr and mrs john doe. You hold hands and hop over the broom! It's fantastic! The broom is small and decorated with lots of ribbon.and you get to keep it forever!

Well that is about $23 pp that is pretty average around here. The menu sounds yummy
As for the honor attendant thing, that sounds no matter what you call it.
Some asked what was a broom bearer, so I figured I would share my insight on the subject *wink* ... this is someone that carries the broom that the couple will jump after the ceremony. This is African tradition that symbolizes a "leap" into a new life and 'sweeping' away the old one. At least that is what I heard. I have seen it done many times, by different couples, a couple of times at the reception instead of at the church. I think it is nice.
Here are a couple of pics I found

that's the part I have to get, the reception I am clueless about this.once I get into that part I will really need your help.by the way when did you start looking for reception venues.
countrygirl
03-31-2006, 01:35 PM
We started looking right after we were engaged, which was this past Feb. We are having it at the reception hall at the church. It's cheaper that way.
You want to start calling for quotes soon, the most popular ones book quickly, and then you also want to take into consideration the time of year of your wedding.
