I went yesterday to Best Buy and got a laptop! I love it! I've been wanting one for some time now. At work, I use a laptop from the library (I'm a teacher) and hook it up to an LCD projector to show images since I don't have a whopping number of art prints. But it's a Mac (which I totally know how to use) but it doesn't have PowerPoint which I would love to use to make presentations for the students to be more interested in what I'm saying (the macs at school do have a sort of powerpoint but it's slooooowwwww to load and do stuff with - I hate it)... so I would love to use it at work... plus I'm always hogging FH's computer and we have to share it which can sometimes be a pain.

So I got a laptop so I can sit in the living room and write up lesson plans, make PowerPoints, and surf the internet. Yay! It's one of the HP special edition computers... it's got a built in webcam, cd-burner, dvd player, built-in wireless, and a ton of other junk that I have no clue about but FH says it was good :) It's so pretty too!

Oooh, that's so awesome! I think the father of a great friend of mine just got one recently too. He was using the built in webcam for the fireworks last night and was VERY happy with it!

Definitely get the extended warranty! I have an HP and their is a problem with the hinge breaking due to overheating. I had to go through a huge ordeal to get it repaired.

Congrats on the new computer though. I love mine.

The mac should have Keynote, which is WAY cooler then PPT!!!!

Nice job on a new computer...you might have to get an new dongal for the projector!!

Hmm... I didn't think about that... I should check that out soon... I plan on using a projector and this laptop for the screenshow we're going to do during the reception. Thanks for the heads up! :)

The only think on our macs at school that I've found is NeoOffice, which sucks in my opinion.

I agree on the extended warranty suggestion. I had two HPs that were awesome until the part where you plug it in on the laptop broke... which could've been fixed if I had more warranty (or in the case of the second one, if my dad hadn't dived into to trying to fix it without realizing there was still warranty). They're probably made differently now 'cause that was a couple years ago, but warranty is always wise to have.

I'm with you 100%. Having a laptop as a teacher is vital. With all the security features they have on the lab computers at school I couldn't get school info home or home info to school. Congrats on the new computer I'm sure you'll get a ton of use out of it.

We sat at the register for a while, me asking FH "what do you think? Would you get it?" And he responded with "it's your decision, your laptop, I hardly ever get the warranty"..... (which is why he has a cell phone that doesn't work, and why when his laptop screen busted, he had to stop using the laptop and hook it up to a monitor so it became a desk computer)....

But I decided that since I'll be carrying it back and forth every day, and taking it with us on trips, and since we have cats (one of which was the culprit of the screen busting - jumped off a tall speaker, causing it to wobble and fall onto the laptop... grr), I just decided to spend the extra $250 and get the 3-year extended warranty including accidental. So :).

Ooooh awesome. My hp has a pretty design on it too! (You see what I'm concerned about, huh?!) :D I love it though. It's ten thousand times better than the Toshiba that I last had.

Congrats!

Not as nifty as yours, but it's cute! My favorite part is the LightScribe. I have too much fun with that thing.

I also love the pretty design on the top! And I love Keely's, too! Now I want one. I'd love to sit on the couch and watch tv and surf the net. I don't have any "real" use for one, though... so I can't really justify getting one. We do have a wireless router, though, for my boys' PSPs, so it's not like we'd need to get one. Hmm...

Cool! I want to get a new laptop but mine is working just fine for me right now. I have a Sony Vaio and have had it for 3 years, which means my extended warranty is out. I got the things in the mail to extend it, but it's not worth extending when they want me to pay like $300 for it. I'd rather put that toward a new one.
