I was thinking about having the wedding later in the eveing, since at 2:00 in June is SO HOT. My Dad thinks 8:00 is too late. We would have the reception until 11ish. If we have it any earlier, dinner will be expected.. And if we have it late, we can spend the hors derves money on wine/beer and a signature drink. ;)
Cake, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Truffles, Groom's Cake, and Brie.
Whaddaya think? I'm so indecisive! :bbneutral:

A late wedding sounds like it could be nice. Definatly dinner wouldn't be expected and the hors d;ouvers would be nice. I say go for it. It could be a little more romantic!

I personally like the idea of a 2pm wedding better, but the 8pm would probably be cooler. Either way, it will be wonderful!

We were originally going to have ours at 8pm (on May 13th, the sun sets at 8:13, and I wanted a sunset wedding), but we moved it up to 7 since we are having the reception at the house. Im scared its gioing to be hard to get people to go home after the reception.

I think everyone has to deal with that reality. We are going to stop the DJ at 10pm so that everyone will be winding down and getting ready to leave by 11pm. I think that should help.

i think evening receptions are nice aswell!
we won't be having a dinner either,
our reception starts at 7, and we will just have a few platters of different things.
we have out DJ until 1am ~ our family likes to party :D
One thing I would love to get it a chocolate fountain.. that would be a nice for an evening event??!!?

My dad just thinks it's way too late! I mean, I'm doing all of the flowers, food and decorations myself for the most part. I think that a late start will give us all more time to get the room ready, ourselves ready, the flowers ready, etc.
I think I'm just going to tell my Dad that 8 is it! ;)

Hey....its YOUR wedding! The reason I moved mine up an hour was so the people driving an hour to get here wouldnt be quite so late getting home. Most probably wont be getting home till about midnight anyway!!

Well, Everyone that is coming from out of town is going to have to stay the night in San Antonio anyway. We're going to cut the cake pretty early in the reception since there isn't any dinner being served..
I just think that 7:00 is too early for a dessert reception. I'm planning on serving some fruit and brie, though, so it's not all heavy stuff. I really think it will be beautiful having the ceremony at sunset. On weather.com it said that on June 3 the sun will set at 8:36. I figure that by the time everyone gets settled in, the moms get walked down, the bridesmaids, flower girl, and I get down there, and we get around to the vows, it'll be sunset. I can put candles everywhere and paper lanterns all over the place on the patio.. And my step mom has all of those christmas lights and tulle. I can use those too. I can use zip ties to attach the string of lights to the banister. I'm going to use the tulle (if it's long enough) to make the pew decorations.
Oh, I'm going to have a blast getting this all set!! :bbmrgreen: :bbmrgreen: :bbmrgreen:

Thanks! I think it will be really nice. I mean, it's not really that late, you know.. No one will be in bed before 10:00 pm on a Saturday Night. No one is obligated to stick around.
I just think that I'll have more time. I'm afraid of having to do the bouquets really early in the morning, getting lunch, getting the reception ready, the ceremony area ready, the food ready, and myself ready. I'm afraid of being rushed.
I'll be able to take my time and have a good day that way.

I think 8:00 would be fine. The laterns and the candles at sun set will be beautiful. Aren't you getting married somewhere by the Riverwalk?

We were going to, but it's WAY EXPENSIVE on the Riverwalk.. Heck, anywhere Downtown is VERY Pricey. We're going with the Clubhouse at a Golf Course. Better deal all around, and free parking. Downtown everyone woukld have to pay like, upwards of $7 for parking.

I think a late wedding is good when you are doing it all yourself!! Unfortunately, my isn't that late, but that is because our reception will be full of red-necks and military. We are having beer/wine and I don't want anyone getting trashed. So ours is ending at 7 pm. Then if they want to party hardy more, they can go elsewhere.
And Cindy, now I wish I had planned a sunset wedding. I never thought of that!! Darn it!!!
